As A Cardinal, I Don't Do Overtime Chapter 42

"I refuse to accept the task!"
Monn's resolute and calm rejection rang out in St. Servant's Cathedral.
The entire cathedral suddenly fell silent.
He…he refused?
Almost no one would have thought that there would be someone who would refuse to accept the Pope's decree.
That had never happened in the history of the Orthodox Church. But it had happened, right in front of them.
Had they witnessed history?
Everyone believed that today's Monn's rejection of the Orthodox Church's decree would spread throughout the entire Land of Xena.
It would also pass down through generations of bards!
Although they were shocked by Monn's rejection, the clergies looked at Monn with anger.
How did he dare to refuse to accept the decree of His Holiness the Pope?
The decree of His Holiness was like the words of God to the devout believers of the Orthodox Church.
Rejecting the Pope was tantamount to rejecting God!
Especially Pope Elton of Preston Church.
He stared at Monn with his widened eyes. His eyes were burning with anger, and his pale beard straightened out in anger.
Even Lucious was frowning, dissatisfied with Monn's refusal to accept the decree.
Andrew was the calmest among all. Although that surprised him, it seemed reasonable when he thought about Monn's usual behavior.
However, Monn's action troubled him. Rejecting the Pope had angered everyone, and he had to calm this matter for Monn.
The Pope waved the staff of the cross lightly and stopped everyone just when everyone wanted to question Monn.
He half-opened his eyes. He was quite astonished about the new feeling of being rejected, and at the same time, Monn's behavior interested him.
A young man with quite a personality?
Pope Sénart quickly asked as he thought about Monn, "Can you tell me why?"
Monn looked at Pope Sénart. He did not feel the anger around him and replied calmly, "My office hours are from 9 am to 5 pm. My army will not be in the work safety guarantee hours after I get off work."

Ah, okay...
Everyone had an indescribable feeling in them when they heard that reason.
Get off work?
When did the Orthodox Church have such a rule?
His reason even stunned Pope Sénart for a moment. He wondered if he had made such a rule.
In the end, the Pope, who could not recall anything about it looked at Andrew and asked, "Pope Andrew, does our Orthodox Church have such rules?"
Andrew tried to think of a way since Monn's performance was admirable. He clenched his teeth and said, "Your Holiness, it was I who carried out this action without permission. Please punish me, Pope!"
There was finally a flash in Monn's calm eyes. He did not expect Pope Andrew to take responsibility for him.
The position of cardinal was just a job to Monn.
He could easily find a good job in the army or the kingdom with his advanced-level Holy Rank ability.
He could work in other places if he wanted to resign from his job here.
However, Pope Andrew's action was a little out of his expectations.
Monn looked at Andrew, who had his head lowered, and said calmly, "I made this decision myself."
Pope Sénart looked at the two of them and suddenly smiled kindly.
He could tell that this was indeed Monn's idea with his intelligence, and he knew well that Andrew was covering up for him.
Sénart was not angry at all. He was a little relieved instead.
Moreover, he did not want to pursue the matter.
Pope Sénart thought for a moment and decided, "How about this? I'll let Lucius go with you. Lucius will take over after you get off work."
Lucius took a step forward upon hearing the pope's decision. He had no objections to the pope's decree. It just so happened that he wanted to see the result of Monn's training on the Holy Knights.
Monn looked at the silver-haired middle-aged man who stood out and got to know that he was Lucius.

At the same time, he nodded in agreement to the Pope's arrangement as long as it did not affect his getting off work.
Andrew heaved a sigh of relief after the Pope amended the condition, but some among them were not happy about it.
"Your Holiness, protecting the light and punishing the darkness are our basic principles as a member of the Orthodox Church. This mere cardinal had flatly rejected your decree just because of a little break time. What he had done was not appropriate!"
Pope Elton grabbed the white oak cane in his hand and pointed it straight at Monn, speaking righteously.
Even he, the Pope of a cathedral, did not have such a treatment. Why could a cardinal have so many privileges?
Monn did not seem to hear Elton's words. He took out his pocket watch and looked at the time.
'Hmm, there was still half an hour before work ended.'
His attitude made Elton even angrier. His beard trembled.
The pope lowered his eyes. "Does Preston Church have a more suitable candidate?"
Hmm...
Elton, who was furious, was stunned. He instantly shut up when he recalled that his highest combat power in the church was only intermediate level Amethyst Rank.
'Do I have to go to the battlefield himself as the Pope?'
The Pope shook his head when he saw Elton remaining silent, "It's settled then."
No one else had any objections after that. Only Elton stared at Monn unwillingly.
Unfortunately, Monn did not even look at him.
"I hope you both can resolve the demonic beast riot as soon as possible."
The Pope looked at Monn and Lucius and continued, "The demonic beast had invaded many villages outside the city. We cannot delay this matter."
Monn said calmly, "I will do my best when it comes to working."
Lucius lowered his head and promised, "This subordinate will do my best!"
The pope nodded his head in satisfaction. Then, he looked at a distance as if he had crossed over a building that blocked his view. He saw the refugees wailing in pain, and he saw the beasts that were eyeing him like tigers. He saw the blood-red eyes that flashed in the deeper part of the forest.
He sighed silently. Then, he closed his eyes and gently tapped the ground with the cross-shaped scepter in his hand. A ripple quickly spread out.
Monn squinted his eyes when the ripples passed by him.
Monn felt a strong healing aura sweep through his body.
A healing effect divine spell!
Monn was sure!
It would probably heal him instantly if he had any injuries on his body.
Monn's gaze followed the ripple and looked outside the church.
Raindrops with holy light suddenly fell from the clear sky.
The raindrops nourished the wounded refugees and instantly healed their wounds!
The crippled refugees suddenly had new fair limbs!
Even the veterans who had been disabled for many years recovered instantly!
"A miracle! A miracle!"
"A true lord! A true Lord!"
"Thank you, my Lord!"
Those who had received the favor and saw the miracle knelt on the ground and shouted out their gratitude.
The entire sky suddenly shook, and a golden door appeared after the Pope made his move.
"Heaven's Gate!"
Everyone in the Holly Church exclaimed.
The Pope stopped the scene in time.
Only then did the golden door disappear.
Monn squinted his eyes. The Heaven's Gate that gave off the aura of God shocked him.
As expected of a True God Realm!
He let out a light sigh.
At the same time, it strengthened his determination to work from nine to five!
