Master Of Myths Chapter 194

After deciding on his course of action YuJu remained quiet in his residence, after three days of such wait he felt unsettled leaving his race to fend for themselves, and since this might take a while the Witness was sent back, accompanied with a blood message informing Mia on how to guide it to fight or remain hidden, so that it could watch over the settlement in case of any attack, though it certainly would blow his cover once its unique fire was involved
And so he spent another four days without anything but his thoughts to accompany him, something he found very frustrating after spending a lifetime of doing this very same thing
Thankfully, after the days totaled up to a week, he was finally able to make his move, heading from his room toward the dining room where he had all the maids clear out, calling for only one of them to enter and another to keep guard on the door
"How may I be of assistance Sir"
Politely asked the maid, after living with him this long, witnessing and hearing so many astonishing things, she couldn't be more clear on her role as a servant and not a spy keeping an eye on him for Aminta, if not then she would probably end up the same as that woman dressed in a skin bag walking around
"You merely need to help with an experiment"
"My pleasure Sir, should I bring any tools?"
"No, you will be enough"
Somehow those words sounded ominous to her, especially coupled with his very honest smile
'Oh no!'
Her pupil suddenly dilated as she realized why she was here, but before any sound could be uttered her entire face was gripped tightly by his hand before being smashed into the hard dining table, knocked out cold with just that
With the test subject laying obediently on the table YuJu pulled back his sleeves and took out several tools of surgical nature, proceeding to open the maid's skull up delicately, searching her brain without damaging any parts until he found the squirmy thing he was looking for
"That's one down"
Dropping the rice grain sized bug into a container he stitched the maid back up, wrapped her in a cloth, and threw her to the side of the dining hall like some sort of bag
"Next!"
And so the extracting spree began, with maid after maid going in, and none leaving, making the guarding woman sweat profusely as she felt her own turn nearing every second, not knowing what in the world that scary man was doing inside

"Next!"
She heard again, only this time accompanying the newest victim was that one armed monster stilled dressed as one of them which confused her to no ends, had the shadow and skin bag taken a liking to this form?
That was a question she would never know, nor was interested in asking, only watching silently as the two, who in reality were three, walked into the room and closed the doors behind them
Shortly after entering the maid accompanying the parasite was knocked with one blow, laid on the table for operation, YuJu quickly cleaned his tools for the newest surgery while addressing the parasite
"Yes?"
"Master, Gremm has called for me to go to his residence as soon as possible"
"Ignore it"
He replied with his back turned, looking dead serious as he performed yet another extraction
Watching the small creature being taken out the maid licked her lips in hunger
"Can I try one?"
"I'll give you the entire box when I'm done, for now, bear with your hunger"
"As Master wishes"
And so it diffused its body into two, a shadow that hid in the dark and a small fairy that hid up his sleeves, meanwhile a bag was rolled up and thrown with the rest to appear as if the one armed maid was also opened up for surgery
From then on YuJu sped up this process, calling them out in twos after getting used to the process, mid search he did stop for a bit to look over one particular maid up and down, memorizing her face o that he would keep an eye on her after discovering something peculiar with the parasite inside
"It merged with her brain so quickly, she must have been aware and willing meaning she is the second spy whose supposedly sending information to that dead mole on the seventh floor"
Finally figuring the identity of the second spy gave him all the power needed to really screw with their minds now
From there he wrapped the search up with the last maid who guarded the place, leaving no one in the mansion conscious before taking away the empty Bug Box and leaving toward the meeting hall, openly showing his arrival
"What is your purpose"
"I have some important information"
He answered the guard, shortly getting the approval to go in from Aminta
"I see you are still here"
"Well, something cropped up and now I have to stay and deal with the situation"

"And your visit concerns that matter?"
"Indeed so, in fact, I would like to call for a meeting"
"Hmm"
She contemplated the request, finding nothing wrong with it and calling for an emergency meeting
Within minutes everyone was gathered at the table, all eyes on YuJu as they were informed he had something important to announce
"I apologize if I must keep the suspense short lived this time around, for we are truly in a rush"
He started off in a joking manner, not amusing anyone
"After finishing off the infiltrator and returning to my residence I found some interesting things lurking about there too thought I'd look into it since I had the time and boy have I uncovered some shocking discovery"
Contrary to his opening he was already raising the suspense a notch, perhaps out of habit
"Through noting and tracing a weird blood signal in the bodies of my maids I have found a small creature of parasitic nature lodged in their brain, all but one maid whom I presume didn't get the chance to get infected due to staying with Ellis most of the time"
He was just getting started yet half the generals already leaned in closer, focused entry on him
"After extracting all these parasites from their brains I experimented with them, finding these things connected to a nest of sorts, through which they transmit the important bits of their host into the nest, precisely, into this box"
He pulled out the hole filled box, allowing everyone to eye it by placing it on the table
"What in the world is it?"
Latvia asked with a frown, not feeling any energy coming off the box at all
"A nest, its occupants all left to live in the maids so naturally, it is empty, and without any supplement it is incapable of producing more of those things"
"...So you're saying someone is spying on you?"
Basu asked, knowing how this may affect things around this place from now on
"No no, I am saying someone is spying on everyone!"
He waved his arm in a gesturing manner, pointing at every other general and even Aminta in his motion
"Ridiculous! No one is as careless as you to leave his servants running amok, we all have a trusted aids"
Roared Gremm angrily
"Run amok? My servants are sealed within my mansion, not allowed to walk out the doorstep, Id say they're on a tighter leash than your own"
To this reply Gremm could only keep quiet, it was true that among them YuJu was the harshest with his servants
"Now how the box came to be is not important, what is important is that after a little bit of tweaking I've found…"
Sneaky was his smile, letting them wonder what it was before mouthing it out word by word
"Tens of these boxes scattered all around Hortus"
"!!" "?" "?!?!"
Everyone, bar Aminta and Verbrand, had a unique reaction of their own, whether it was the surprised gen, the confused Basu, or the shocked Latvia, each one a rare occurrence when not in the presence of this man who always managed to get their emotions stirring
"How did you come to that conclusion?"
More interested in his way of discovering this Aminta questioned, which he more than readily explained
"I'll keep it simple, basically I established an imitative link to the box using one of the still living parasites, through which I tracked the signal being given by the box toward another source I believe to be a central hive set within this floor, after connecting to said hive a series of signals opened up to me, this means that the box is capable of transmitting information from itself to other similar entities using the central hive, I sectioned each signal to make out thirty five boxes within our floors alone, minus this one and the hive"
If this was the simple versions how complicated was the real deal? They couldn't mull on that question tough since a bigger one caught their attention
"So you're saying some unknown entity is keeping tabs on us?"
Basu keyed in on that specific point
"Glad you asked that, since my next reveal concerned the initiator of this whole mess"
He smil-"Just spit it out would you?!"
Gremm was almost about to pounce at him and his stupid suspense moments, ushering a disappointed sigh from YuJu who did not have enough fun as he revealed the perpetrator
"Genus Insania, it was they who planted spies in our midst"
The generals didn't react much, actually bearing a smile instead at how Gremm finally managed to ruin this annoying man's fun

Edge Cases (Book 1 Complete!)
Rare classes and powerful skills are helpful. Too bad the system doesn't seem built to handle them. What even are all these errors? Our team of outcasts and adventurers will have to rely on their trust - and the bane of all stories, healthy communication - just to survive, let alone understand what the system is doing. Because they're quickly realizing that it's doing something; to people, to monsters, and maybe even to the gods themselves. And their goal isn't just to survive; it's to make things better. It's a good thing they're not doing it alone. --- Edge Cases is an attempt to take the LitRPG genre and the overpowered MCs trope and write a story where numbers aren't everything. Sometimes it takes trust, support, and just a touch of being very, very clever. Expect a mix of action, slice-of-life, friendship, and ominous worldbuilding. Updates M-W-F at 6pm EST. Cover art by Alovck of Artstation, and typesetting by jessessey right here on RoyalRoad.

At first, William wouldn't consider these oddballs to be any important to him, but after being stuck with them for long enough, they might just let him melt his icy exterior. ------- -In a world where Superheroes and Villains have existed for only a few meagre generations, this story will focus on how a stoic supervillain comes to befriend people when he hasn't ever been allowed to get close to anyone. Imagine it like a sort of Boku no Hero Academia where the big bad villain is playing the same game as the kids, which happens to be a similar game to Legendary Moonlight Sculptor. The story will take place in both the real world and the game and these plots will interact and intersect. Characters will be fleshed out as the story goes along. Enjoy!
