Half an hour's ride away from the vampire's den was one of the city's largest malls, now resting in shambles among the fallen buildings

Still the place was much better than most of the other larger buildings dotting the destroyed city, mainly because none of the huge beasts had crossed it, yet

In front of this surviving building two high speed figures came to an abrupt halt

"Is this it"

"Yes Master, this is where we recruited the blood bats now serving under us"

Nodding YuJu surveyed the broken glass walls and the rubble filled entrance, deciding it was best to jump in straight through the first floor rather than wasting time trying to find a clear entrance through the ground one

Taking a leap he easily crossed the high walls landing lightly in one of the shops, Mia quickly followed with the same ease

Having a look around the two found themselves in a candy shop, much of its colorful pieces of sweets still laying around with no one to enjoy their taste

'Candy, haven't seen any in a long time'

Useless food like this has been cast away by the human race in their struggle for survival, not to mention the meat of many beasts was sometimes tastier than any sugar coated piece of chocolate

'That reminds me, it's been a while since I really wanted to eat'

He might have had a bite at the house when he just got back but it wasn't really out of hunger, in fact he hadn't been hungry ever since drinking the blood of that Fodiens Harenae back in the nameless desert

Still he couldn't help but pull open one of the preserved containers, throwing in a gumball into his mouth before continuing into the mall

The sound of heavy boots and clicking jewelry soon filled this eerily empty place and before long the duo found themselves standing under a dome giving view to the night sky

"Something is wrong Master, there doesn't seem to be any living creature here"

Mia voiced her concerns

"If the residents of this place are indeed bats then it's natural for them to avoid this area, what with the glass walls and big dome letting in sunlight during day time"

"Oh.."

Feeling embarrassed for not thinking this on her own even with her vampire status she kept silent for the rest of the way in

The deeper they went the darker it was, it wasn't the dim type of darkness but a heavy one that seemed to even muffle the sound of their steps, they had no doubt however that whatever lived here has been alerted of their presence already, not that they were trying to hide anyway

Feeling that they've gone deep enough YuJu halted his steps, his mind wondering why he'd not sensed a gaze on him yet as he blew a bubble with his gum

Pop!

It wasn't that loud, not even as loud as their footsteps, but the sudden pop attracted the hidden residence to finally open their eyes and look upon those who intruded their territory

"My, what numbers they've grown into"

With a smile Mia watched red gleaming eyes of many sizes glare at them from the roof, each belonging to a bloodthirsty bat no doubt

Bam!

A heavy body fell from the group to greet them, the two looked on expecting a strong bat or even a mutated one but the creature was a tad bit more surprising

"Great, just what I needed"

YuJu commented seeing it stand on two legs with an upright stature, a sturdy body under the wings still attached to the arms but a clear tear lay between the joints hinting that the two parts would soon detach

'Since its evolution is taking it down a humanoid road it would make its blood essence that much more useful, it's much easier to mix with the thralls than a pure beast's blood after all'

Thinking up to here he spit out the gum, straight at the semi-humanoid bat

Seeing the small pink object approaching the bat quickly deflected the attack with its claw only to notice the soft and stick feeling coming from the harmless object

Turning its head toward YuJu it found him to be smiling condescendingly, this threw it into rage as its eyes slipped into a darker shade of red

"Its using a skill"

"KIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE"

YuJu just barely warned before the bat heaved all of its anger into one loud screech

The sonic sound emitting from the screech was a few notches higher than what their ear could handle causing them to burst with blood, even the bats around them couldn't handle it fully with some of the weaker ones directly falling to the ground, no longer conscience

"What a bother"

Not even flinching YuJu pointed Mia to the disorderly bats flying all over the place while he went to meet the problematic one

Mia wanted to say something but realizing neither could hear she just shook her head and proceeded to transform into a bat herself, plunging into the dark cloud above

Meanwhile, on the ground, YuJu deployed his own cloud of smoke, blocking any and all assistance to the beast from its kin

"Kiee!"

Seeing the approaching strange smoke it tried to disperse it with a sonic attack, naturally that failed miserably since it had no aura to counter it like the wind sphere did

It wanted to fly up to escape from it but before it did the smoke seemed to do the job for it, circling around the bat and above it, leaving a great deal of space for it to move

"Don't worry, this will be a head on fight, I am a little rusty after all"

Intent on having a face to face confrontation he walked ever so slowly to this still angry beast

Unlike him though the beast didn't seem interested in the fight, it only had that dangerous other two legged beast on its mind, for something told it a fight against that creature was almost unwinnable

Still the one before it did insult it so it lunged at him with a claw, planning to rip his head off for the offense

With a quick swipe the battle was supposed to be over, however the feeling of flesh never rendered in its sharp pointed fingers YuJu dodged and was delivering a knee to its stomach at the moment

Wuu!

With a quick flap backward it barely avoided getting kneed in the gut

It was a very small exchange but anyone could determine something quite quickly, aerial advantage in any type of fight made huge difference, and the beast didn't waste time capitalizing on that

Lunging forward it started to swing at him left ad right, sometimes trying to grab him with i fight while other times biting at him with its extra large fangs, all while keeping good flight balance in order to escape at the drop of a hat

The fight seemed unfair, and it was, very very unfair to this ignorant beast

'The best way to nail a flying beast'

YuJu suddenly stopped dogging and made a huge swing with his leg

'Is to lure it into landing on its own accord'

His somewhat slow swing missed its target but still continued on its trajectory, leaving him open to attacks, something the bat could not miss

Diving toward him it opened its mouth to take a good bite from the slippery prey, happily falling for the feint

Smirking YuJu halted his leg mid swing, easily so with the lack of force behind it, swinging it in the other side to slam the bat to the side

The kick was merely the prelude to the end however as he didn't stop there, chasing after the beast before it regained balance and finally kneeing it in the gut like he first attempted to

"Kiee!"

Thrusting a claw forward and flapping away it wanted to escape his range but sadly it only succeeded in going up to the air, with him clutching onto its outstretched arm for the ride

Realizing it wasnt a match for his melle experience it resorted into its sonic attacks, he was way ahead of it with the though however as his fist came smashing toward its face, knocking its square in the jaw

Once the threat of attack was dealt with he placed his leg on its shoulder, where the arms and wing were joined, as well as the location of the natural tear, there he applied pressure while pulling at the arm he'd been holding

"Kieee!"

Screaming and swing with its other claw the bat tried to get rid of him as the two spiraled toward the round in a matter of moments

Riiip

Came the dreaded sound before YuJu jumped off it, accelerating its slam into the ground while he rolled into a stable landing

"Well, I guess it's over, not too much of a warm up though"

He commented, only to fall on deaf ears as the creature who got slammed head first didn't seem to be in the right condition, swaying left and right with uneasy footsteps as its wing and arm dangled to the side, useless after the forceful separation, while he himself had his eardrums burst open….

Deciding it was time to finish things he made way to the creature with slow steps, only this time he was met with a dreaded gaze rather than a dismissive one
