Master Of Myths Chapter 110

Seeing him approach YuJu narrowed his eyes slightly, there wasn't anything out of the norm but his battle instincts seemed to kick in abruptly
'Is there anyone nearby trying to stir trouble?'
Passing his gaze over the surroundings revealed no enemy, he was quite sensitive to others observation so he should notice if anyone was lurking but only Latvia's drones were capturing the event live from their hide spots
'Paranoia? No, something is about to happen'
Locking his sight back onto the swaying bundle he thought for a moment, a moment too late as long spiked vines shoot from the soil at them
'He's attacking!! Did he get ordered to do so or is it his own-'
His debating thoughts were cut short as the vines approached, there was no time to think this through and immediate action was required
Kicking back against the scales he jumped into the now open cockpit, manipulating his aura to control the golem into quick flight
They took off the ground successfully but didn't make it far before one of the vines intangeld the tail, pulling it down while the others rose from all sides blocking all escapes but above
'It won't pull through!'
Knowing just how capable the rotten fellow's grip was he directly gave up further plans of escape with the golem
'How do I fight him, can I even fight him right now?'
Only a few thoughts yet the vines were already latched onto the cyan scales, pulling the twisting dragon from the sky to its inevitable loss
'"Control the golem"
He ordered the panicking red head who just entered with Anput while he jumped out once more leaving no room for useless questions
'Can't run, even if I could its useless'
Everything he planned for would be ruined if he so much as showed even the slightest hint at his current level of strength, he either had to fight long enough to think this through or convince the fool into stopping this sudden aggression

Running up the scaled while avoiding the swiping vines he stepped on the head of the golem and looked straight down, staring into the dark brown globes of eyes resting deep within the foliage covered figure
"…" "..."
There was a split moment where both parties paused, that was before a scowl overtook YuJu's usual calm face
'This rotten...he's testing me'
Knowing the fellow all too well made it rather easy to guess what was going on with a mere staredown
Though annoyed his heart settled down, as long as no major problem caused this then things could still be salvaged
The vines were not attacking YuJu after the two exchanged glances, instead they only dragged the awkwardly struggling dragon down, as if to say 'I'm going to destroy your toy, what are you gonna do about it'
'I can't back down here, if I do then my words won't carry any weight from this point onward, I have to beat him'
Easier said than done, or rather it was impossible to do in the first place, the level difference was just too huge to overcome, perhaps there could have been a way to turn tables and break even, that was only if he wasn't airborn though, this situation where he couldn't hide and utilise his main advantage of stealth made him a sitting duck
'If I can't beat him with force or convince him with words then…'
There was only one way
'My earlier plans are screwed anyway, might as well'
With that mindset he allowed himself to drop from the sky, straight into the enemy's hold
Considering this an attack the rattan quickly dispatched more vines to shoot at him, to this YuJu merely swiped his hand in the air, or at least that's what it appeared to everyone viewing the battle

Boom!
It wasn't until a black hole appeared in the sky decimating the attacking vines did everyone realize that was his method of attack
Sensing the danger the rattan sent another set of vines only for the quickly descending YuJu to wave his hand again, once more clearing the spiked wave in mere moments
With the distance between them shortening the fellow made the decision to retreat temporarily, sliding against the ground while his unending vines blurred the sky, shrowding YuJu's decent with their massive quantity
'Thats what Ive been waiting for'
Finally getting the opponent to break the viewers vision of him YuJu put the plan into motion
An outline of two intertwining barbed petals housing a strange flower once more emerged on his forehead, this time though it wasn't a mere decoration
Syphoning power from the seal his eyes gained a pointed look, red seeping through the iris, that along his scowl made quite the menacing face to look at, thankfully only the enemy was unfortunate enough to see it
"You!!"
Along with the confused shout light dimmed around the descending figure as from all around vines closed in, wrapping his arms and legs as creaking sounds came from the bones
All this YuJu ignored, his pain sensors were already occupied with the pleasure of power he was receiving from the seal, it was as if one's body was filling up with warm liquide, coursing through the veins gently and seeping into the bones
'Its running out quickly'
Even amid both euphoria and pain he didn't let his mind stall for a single second
"Let me down"
He ordered with a steeled expression and not even a second later felt the hard grip around his limbs loosen
Once more free falling he leveraged the thick trailing plants to slide his way down, avoiding another injury from the heights before walking toward the still yet swaying fellow with heavy steps
Arriving just in front of this annoying fellow he held the urge to curse the impulsive general, how many times were his perfectly laid plans thrown into disarray because of some spontaneous action from this one he didn't know but they were for sure more than enough to cause eneminity between the two
Trying to calm his raging mind he thought what words suit the situation
"Well...now you know"
Thinking it was enough he plunged his hand through the scarce leaves around the center and lifted him up a little, much to his struggling right hand's disapproval
Once this scene was set up he dismissed his seal bringing down with it all the cover the rattan held up in his shock giving view to any watching the fight

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
