Master Of Myths Chapter 97

Swords and scyths clashed repeatedly on the otherwise silent land, each clash carried the two fighter's will to be victorious giving them a dignified feeling, especially the purple covered woman who had the most dignifying presence
Around them however was a dark figure jabbing its own attack from time to time to tilt the balance of the fight to an unfair degree, and this figure was actually helping the woman which wiped away any respect the opposing insect-like creature might have for its enemy
"Kiaaa!"
Giving its death throes not long since the fight began the creature tried to leave at least one injury on its opponent only for another knife to block its final struggle, forcing it to leave the world with a heavy heart
"What a bother"
Allowing the smoke covering his body to disperse YuJu complained, not about the creature though but because he's yet to find a good way to put his aura to good use
"Can't use it to achieve any result on the physical realm, doesn't help my stealth and in fact makes it easy for them to spot me, furthermore I cant strengthen my body or senses in any way, hell it actually disorients them somewhat"
There had to be some sort of use for the new aura but he didn't have all the time in the world to mull on it, his hands were out of commission so an extra technique for battle would be appreciated right about now, kicking his knives wouldn't help him go far and Ellis wasn't that capable to bein with
"Thank you Master"
Speaking of the redhead he was actually surprised she'd not complained about his interference, it might be because she knew there were a ton more enemies awaiting her or perhaps because of how her aura centred around him already, either way it was a welcome change

"How many tickets did it give"
She glanced at the air hearing his question, her actions clearly meant she was reading through the notification in her system
"Three"
"Just three? Then we better not kill any of them yet, we don't want to be short by a ticket or two at the end of this"
Deciding not to waste any time on fights he led her straight forward
"What are these tickets Master?"
"You'll know when we use them, focus on destroying these hindrances for now"
He pointed her to the humanoid shapes rising out of the ground to bar their path
Her path, to be exact as he passed by them unnoticed
'I need to make sure no one can use the tickets yet'
Destroying the bunkers wasn't enough for his plan, he needed to guard the castle before anyone got to it too, though no one should be lucky enough to take the thing he wanted there was still a minimal chance of that happening
'Hmm?'
The system's notification started flashing out of nowhere in his vision
'Is it because she gained a ticket?'
He thought, when Ellis kills those things she has a chance of getting a ticket so this might cause a notification? Either way he opened it to check

-Anput requests Class Change into [Shadow Keeper]

"Huh?"
The hasty footsteps slowed down to a stop as he tried to clear his mind, this seemed like an important message and an empty mind was needed to think it through
'Anput….Anput!...I can't reach her from another dimension'
Not to mention the distance, just the fact that they were in different space-time dimensions made communicating an impossibility
'What could the reason for this sudden request be? Unless she did it consciously it wouldn't appear'
The first possible answer that came to mind was her facing trouble, from unwelcome visitor coming into the cavern to the little Dreneonates taking full form due to an accident

'I should have just brought her with us'
Leaving her there was a choice he made due to the unknown dangers of this region, who knew it would quickly bite him back
Laminating wouldn't do any good though, a decision needed to be made about the class change now
'Shadow Keeper? Why would she need this class, if I recall correctly it's all about extracting shadows from the dead, there shouldn't be any dead bodies nearby?... The Orelic!'
Remembering the dead stone giants he thought it made sense, if she was really in trouble those things would be of great help
'I have to permit her class change, with zero information there really is no other choice'
Pressing Allow gave him another surprise as another unexpected notification instantly came after his agreement

-Anput satisfied Unique Conditions, Skill "Shadow Evoke" Changed into "War Shadow Evoke"
_________________________________
"Unique conditions? What's the difference between War Shadows and Shadows? Did she perhaps want this and isn't actually in a bind?"
So many questions couldn't help but come out his mouth, every one of them a puzzle of its own
"Ugh, whatever, I've already done what I could, my own task requires focus now"
With that said he rushed to the castle-like building once more, a little more speed put into his legs now that he wanted to get out of this place much earlier than before
He wasn't the only one rushing toward it though, every other aura holder who discovered the ruined state of the small buildings was now heading straight toward the centre where the only remaining building lay while killing everything they met on the way, whether it be the things dropping these tickets or other aura holders whom they chanced upon
"Looky what we have here" "A small vampire, how disturbing"
YuJu wasn't spared the troublesome matter of fighting others either for his speed guaranteed the absence of any stealth resulting in the meeting with these two werewolves now flanking his sides
"Sorry to burst your happy bubble, I'm no vampire"
"Oh? Hmm, you do look different from them indeed" "Well, your race looks very similar to them, can't help but piss me off haha"
Hearing the two cackle wildly put a wry smile on his face, just how many times has the human race gotten this exact reaction when meeting werewolves? The mortal war between the furry and the bloodsucking races caused no small amount of conflict to this innocent new race
"You know what happens when something pisses us off?" "We slowly eat it, ripping the flesh off until nothing is left to its body but the unsavoury bones"
"You know what happens when I get pissed off?" Shik! Shick! "Didn't think so"
As the two bodies fell to the ground rolling with a dagger stabbed into their eyes YuJu shook his head with a laugh, they were all bark no bite after all
"Seven tickets for both combined? That's rather crappy"
Each person had a quota of ten tickets so for two to not even collect enough for one...very shabby indeed
On the bright side the top of the building was already in sight meaning soon he wouldn't have to worry about someone sneaking away with the treasures
'With that thing in hand I wouldn't have to concern myself with battles for quite some time'
It will be a great tool to aid his rise

The Harrowbird's Crown
(Formerly: Tales of a Harrowed House) Synopsis: This is the tale of an exiled royal family who, after their bloody reunion on the island of Providence, return to a war-torn homeland where once more, powerful forces pit sibling against sibling in a bid for the crown — and once more, the magical streets of Auctor echo their infamous motto: “Fire will Reign as Harrowbirds Soar!” From his humble beginnings as a shoemaker’s son, his year spent as a daringly brazen orphan caught between rivaling Houses and a mad ghost, and his fight for the crown after his return to Auctor, Corbyn faces a coming-of-age story unlike any before him as he discovers magic and birthright are two things he never knew he had. From the intimate narrative of a childhood that was never her own, her year spent struggling to find the person she is rather than the person her family needs her to be, the secrets she hides, and the truths she finds, Halle discovers herself on the fabled island of Providence as her House collapses around her, bids to enter a legendary school of magic in her homeland of Auctor, and fights for a crown she never knew she wanted. A high-action, character-focused story written with a poet’s styling, The Harrowbird’s Crown is a tale that will transport readers into the conflict and conquest of a royal family back on the rise. General Information: This story is more traditionally plotted. While the beginning may seem to start out slowly, when shit hits the fan: the action is constant, the mysteries are satisfying, and the character development is rewarding. Chapters are usually between 2.5-3.5 thousand words (though some, like the first and second chapters, can run up to 5k words). The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
