I Reincarnated As A Shinai Chapter 63

"H-hakama and Kei---?"
It was the first time that Diether heard these words from his master.
However, since it involves the Tranquility Fabric, he guessed that it will be used to make some clothes or probably a piece of equipment that he was not aware of.
Diether was then approached by a male attendant and was asked if he would already like to take the item.
He consulted his master first before agreeing to the man.
"I don't think I'll see something that I could afford with what's left on my money…"
Diether mattered after realizing that the next item being sold has already reached 800 gold coins...
After getting the fabric, he would be left with 2,745 gold coins from his earnings but he had to save most of them considering the amount of money he had to spend with his next training session. It wasn't like he could hunt a top-grade Evil Beast every time within the Wailing Forest.
He was only a bit lucky that the Imp was alone and it specializes not in close combat but its control in Arcane Magic through Spiritual Energy…
"Mhmm… It really has a good quality now that I've seen it closer…"
Diether commented after seeing the item.
The attendant grinned widely after hearing this. He was proud of their products. Although these items were useless to Arcane students, he was fully aware of how good they were in the eyes of commoners. He then assisted the young man in wrapping it within a bag that was freely given by the Auction Hall to carry the item.
Instead of going out, Diether decided to at least listen a bit more to the auction that was taking place. Even if he may not participate, it would be a good thing to broaden his horizon.
"They all look common items but they have incredible uses… I've learned a lot…" Diether said interestingly as the auction was reaching its end.

Some of the items that were sold were uncommon materials that may be useful to other professions, like Mystic Knife that could easily cut meat, a Bee-Eating plant, Iron-Scented Candles, Free Lightning Sword Manual that teaches mid-grade sword technique, and an Order Whip that could forcefully command low-level beasts.
There were also some items or even toys that can be used by average people. Items like Super Bouncy Ball, Rumbling Kite, and even a figurine of a famous person in the Chorodan Kingdom, the Royal Magistrate Vepar. It was sold for 330 gold coins and it wasn't just a collectible item but was sold by the auctioneer telling that it could bring good luck to the house where it would belong to.
Luck or even mysticism was something that the current people of the kingdom were eyeing for. They would believe in these things especially to those who were in constant danger from the existence of the evil beasts.
Diether was similarly affected by this custom. However, because of his master, his belief in luck and other mysticism was no longer that strong since his efforts had much more visible results.
Soon, the last item for the auction was shown…
"Ladies and gentlemen, the long-awaited item for today's auction are here…" The auctioneer then removed the cloth covering the last item to be auctioned.
"Whoa!!"
"Finally! It's here…"
"Luckily, I didn't spend a lot on the last items… I can still try to get this…"
"Tsk… So they really have this item…"
"Amazing… To think that I'll see one in my entire lifetime…"
The audience exclaimed and couldn't help but marvel at the sight of the final item…
At the center of the stage was a silver cage designed to trap a bird. However, instead of an animal or a flying beast inside. It was a different race…
"It's a real fairy?!"

Diether was similarly stunned at the sight.
'Why would they sell a top-grade item in this low-level auction?'
As Diether thought of this, he heard his master's question.
"Is it rare to see fairies?" Reiji was already aware that different races exist in this world after confirming the existence of orcs in the continent… He was aware that dwarves and elves were similarly present somewhere in the northern continent.
"Yes… I read before that the fairies were treated as Magical Beasts instead… It should be difficult to catch them since they were adept in Arcane Magic…
"The kingdom doesn't prohibit such acts against fairies and they can surely fetch a high-price when it was sold to the nobles…"
Reiji was confused after hearing this. The current auction hall doesn't seem to have wealthy nobles…
"Oh…"
Reiji then noticed that the fairy within the cage seems to be very old and was already about to die. Its wings were also cut-off so it wouldn't be able to escape…
"They even cut its wings… That must've hurt a lot to the old fairy…"
He sympathizes a little bit as Reiji gave his thoughts.
"Eh? Right, its wings were cut-off… So that's why it is being sold here…"
Diether finally understood the situation. As Reiji was about to ask about it, the auctioneer gave some information about the fairy.
"Although the fairy had her wings removed and can't use any Arcane Magic, it is still a fairy… The starting price is 1500 gold coins…"
The price was very low.
Diether then explained more to his master while the participants started their bidding war.
"A perfect condition fairy can be sold for 30 to 40 thousand gold coins. I read it in a nobles newspaper before."
"I see… For a starting price of 1500 gold, it seems that the auction hall was only trying to sell it for 8 to 10 thousand gold." Reiji made a rough guess based on the previous result in the auction.
He wasn't exactly sure how useful or probably useless this fairy was since it could no longer use an Arcane Magic.
At most, it has some mystical knowledge but it was close to impossible to extract this information considering their current condition.
Soon, the fairy was sold for 11,400 gold coins to a hooded man. It seems that he did not participate in any other auction and only aimed for this last item.
Many participants sighed and regretted their impulse in buying some unnecessary items before the fairy was auctioned. This mistake resulted in their lack of funds to compete against the hooded man.
The auction ended without any issues and Diether decided to return to Rosen Town along with the other participants in the auction.
The duo was silent for a while until Diether finished his thoughts and decided to pose a question to his master.
"Master Reiji, I'm curious about something… May I ask you about it?"
"Sure, go ahead…" Reiji didn't feel that Diether was acting strange.
"U-uhmm… May I know what are your plans aside from regaining your strength?"
Diether wanted to ask this question for a while now.
The sentient Arcana wasn't his but was willing to teach him a lot of things that he could never imagine before. He would really like to thank his master for the opportunity that was given to him…
"Well, for now… I'm considering to build a dojo… Though that would take a lot of time…" Reiji answered from the bottom of his heart.

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
