Returning after a run to Delphine's house, I could not help but notice her absence in the hall. There was a note on the table in which, in casual handwriting, she said that she had gone to the laboratory to analyze the data and that I should clean myself up and show up there. So I did, and five minutes later, having cleaned myself with magic and dressed in loose army-cut pants and other home clothes, I entered the laboratory on the first basement level. I hadn't been here often, but it looked the same: tables with various artifacts or alchemical devices and distillation retorts, cabinets with books or numbered boxes and chests, a vacant section of the floor with a universal diagnostic diagram on it. In a simple dark blue long, strict dress, more like a business suit, Delphine was sitting on a chair at one of the tables and making notes in an ordinary notebook, eating breakfast along the way. Lady Greengrass's clothes hinted that today was the day of "Brainstorming." I had seen this picture repeatedly at the Ravenclaw table, so I wasn't surprised at all. I wonder what House Lady Greengrass was in? After all, I do not know this.
Noticing me, Delphine waved her hand, saying: "Sit down," and I, taking the next chair, sat down next to her, looking at the notes. With just a gesture of her hand, she showed that: "I'll finish eating, and then we will talk." So I just waited, reading her notes along the way. The woman suddenly froze for a second, and taking a plate with a large number of sandwiches with several varieties of meat, sausages, cheeses, and herbs, put it so that I could also reach for something. Without refusing the offer, I took the first sandwich that came to hand.

It took at least five minutes to empty the plate, and the drink, in general, was water created by Aguamenti in transfigured glasses.
"So," Delphine finished writing, and putting her fountain pen aside, she looked at me. "First things first. About last night's incident. Here."
Delphine extended her hand in front of her with a small vial, with a silvery thread floating inside it, as if it were a memory pulled from her head. She waved her wand over it, and a three-dimensional spectrogram of countless columns of different heights appeared above the table. Their colors varied throughout the range, from an almost invisible violet to a fading red.
"Right now, you can observe the magic spectrogram of your body and magic at the beginning of the ritual. To my surprise, it is quite smooth and does not have any outliers in individual indicators, which is somewhat strange, given your capabilities. And here..."
Delphine put the vial away on the table and picked up another, with a similar glowing string inside that floated there as if in liquid. Once again, moving her wand over the vial, she created the illusion of an almost indistinguishable spectrogram. Eh, how many different applied, specific spells are unknown to me?
"See? The differences are minimal, and it's hard to even notice them with a quick glance. Here," Delphine began pointing her wand at certain colored peaks and troughs of the spectrogram. "Here, and here. And here. This tells us that the body's structure, its proportions, the proportions of its indicators, and other interrelated parameters, even the genome, remain pretty much the same. For understanding, even relatives differ significantly in the spectrogram. And representatives of different species, especially magical ones, and even more so. The spectrograms of a werewolf wizard in their form differ like heaven and earth."

"It turns out that what the body seeks to turn into is not particularly different from it?"
"If you draw conclusions from spectrograms, yes. However..." Delphine dispelled the illusion with a gesture of her wand and put the vial aside, taking the other two and waving her wand over each in turn, creating the illusion of two very different spectrograms.
One spectrogram was quite flat, its readings were low, and the columns glowed in the range from blue to thick green, forming a kind of hilly surface. On the second one, these columns were much higher, had red and maroon colors, but the surface was not smooth, and there were hollows of infinite depth in it — it seems that in these areas, the readings literally fell into an infinite minus. Or a plus, it's not clear yet.
"On the first, green spectrogram, you see the interpretation of the body's numerical readings. I had to raise the average for the person to your level to get the right picture. Here and here," Delphine pointed to a couple of high spots on the graph, "you can see the production of magic and other energy components of the body. As you can see, it's high in relation to the other body parameters, which indicates an increased consumption of them by the body for some of its needs. This indicates a constant and powerful development and self-improvement of the body according to some program, instructions. This is observed in young children and other rapidly developing organisms. Or those who have undergone chimerization. In general, undergoing changes..."

Blood Demon's Retirement
Civil War had raged on the Al-Shan Archipelago for the past four decades, only recently coming to an end with the enthronement of the new Emperor. This is not his story. The Blood Demon, renowned general of said civil war, was tired of all the fighting and politicking that had described the last four decades of her existence. All she really wanted to do now is to go out into the world and see the many lands from her father's stories. Thus she retired, and went and did exactly what she wanted. This is the story of what happens when you toss a (retired) war machine with somewhat lacking common sense into an unsuspecting world at peace. Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. First time posting a story on Royal Road here, hoping you folks will enjoy. Expect: -slow going slice of life with occassional faster paced action -world building -detailed anecdotes on the world, its races, the magic system, and whatnot every now and then Do not expect: -romance, other than maybe some passing mentions -politics, again, barring passing mentions Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. ---------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road and Scribblehub websites. If you should find this story elsewhere or under another name, please let me know. Also please don't be too hard on me when I make occasional grammatical mistakes, English is my third language after all. XD Edit suggestions are very welcome though. Discord

Liam dies during a colision with a truck; to be precise he was the one who drove said truck into a lamppost. The manner of his death aside he is reborn after having his brain squeezed through the proverbial ringer of interdimensional transference, and to add insult to injury is forced into the body of a dungeon core (one of those things responsible for building fantasy type dungeons, labyrinths, mazes .etc).
