Chapter 925: Shameless Boasting
Could it be that this damned dwarf is really knowledgeable in Alchemy? The metallurgists were hesitant. Even the two metallurgists hanging from Angelano’s body subconsciously let go.
“You’re boasting shamelessly. This Array Circulation Pathway is the technique that the first master metallurgist of the Rotterdam, Master Russell, was best at. It can increase the utilization rate of mana by almost 10 percent. This has been tested and proven!” argued an indignant metallurgist.
“It’s his best technique, and yet he still made it end up like this. Seriously, everyone really dares to call themselves a master nowadays,” Angelano said in a disdainful tone while fiddling with the Alchemy Colossus. He sternly hollered, “Increase by 10 percent? More like a 10-percent increase in wear and tear! Using the Array Circulation Pathway to reuse the remaining mana can increase the utilization rate, but didn’t anyone notice that in this Array Circulation Pathway, the mana left over from each cycle appears a second time!?”
“Well… Is that not the case!?” another metallurgist asked guiltily.
“Indeed, you’re a bunch of idiots. All you do is use it like fools. You people are clueless about the profound things. According to the design of the Array Circulation Pathway, the remaining mana that is circulating will not only not be utilized a second time, but will also increase the depletion of mana that is flowing in. You’re a bunch of fools who are deceiving yourselves and using it joyfully. You are hopeless!” Angelano exclaimed while readjusting the settings inside the Alchemy Colossus. He then leaped off and walked towards the other one.
“Could it be real?”
“Impossible, Master Russell couldn’t have gotten it wrong.”
“However, I find that the dwarf’s words do make sense. Don’t you think the Alchemy Colossus becomes a little underpowered when it’s been in use for a while?”
After Angelano left, the group of metallurgists who were continuously clamoring immediately gathered around the Alchemy Colossus that had just been adjusted. Looking at the changes, they immediately began to discuss them with each other.
Of course, it was impossible for Angelano to readjust all seven Alchemy Colossuses and get rid of all the flaws. He simply allowed the paralyzed ones to stand up and move again. He did not spend much time on each Alchemy Colossus, and each of them could stand up in less than one minute. All seven Alchemy Colossuses that were on the ground were repaired in six or seven minutes.
The metallurgists did not know if they had been repaired, but they didn’t find the speed of repair to be reliable. After all, given the degree of damage done to the Alchemy Colossuses, the least damaged one would take three or four metallurgists an hour to repair.
“Enough, Felic, don’t let me touch this trash in the future anymore, alright? Just dump the rubbish into the bin next time. What’s the value in repairing it?” After performing all the tasks, Angelano complained to Lin Li and returned to the team of the Tower of Dusk without looking at Donald and the rest.
Where did that dwarf come from? Could he have really repaired seven Alchemy Colossuses within such a short period of time? Was he telling the truth, or were they just frivolous comments? Donald looked at the colorfully dressed Angelano, and refused to believe that he could do that.

“According to your request, I’ve repaired the Alchemy Colossuses. Is there anything else you need?” Lin Li questioned coldly. What he meant to say was Donald should stop being an eyesore if he didn’t have any other issues.
Donald finally recovered from the shock and humphed coldly. “Is that so? How do you know it’s fixed if you haven’t tried it?”
At this time, there was actually no need for Donald to give orders, as a few metallurgists had already scurried over to each maneuver their own Alchemy Colossus after some discussion. As soon as Donald finished speaking, an Alchemy Colossus that was originally paralyzed on the ground stood up shakily from the ground.
Upon sight of that, Donald fell silent with a sullen expression. At the same time, he had more suspicions about Angelano’s identity. If everything that he said was true, and he had indeed repaired all seven Alchemy Colossuses, his attainments in alchemy were probably not inferior to Donald’s. However, Donald felt that he had never heard of such a clown in his circle before.
The top metallurgists of Anril were in the Rotterdam Kingdom, and that was a fact known to all. That was not to say that there were no other master metallurgists outside of the kingdom, but rather that not every metallurgist could research Alchemy Colossuses.
The Ledin Kingdom valued faith greatly, while the Felan Kingdom valued magic. In the entire Anril, Rotterdam was the only kingdom which would provide all kinds of superior conditions as well as enough resources for their metallurgists. Hence, metallurgists, especially those who specialized in Alchemy Colossuses, would find it difficult to progress outside of Rotterdam. Once they achieved something, their reputation in Anril would become greater, and they definitely wouldn’t remain unknown.
“Hey, it seems hard to control this Alchemy Colossus,” said Jeremiah, who couldn’t help butting in, implying that there still had to be something wrong with that Alchemy Colossus, thus making it inflexible.
Jeremiah had been waiting to see Lin Li make a joke out of himself, but not only did he have no opportunity to do so, he even watched Lin Li getting all smug. Deep down, he was much more anxious than Donald. Fortunately, he noticed how clumsy the Alchemy Colossus was, and thus quickly pretended to be shocked and reminded Donald.
However, before Jeremiah finished speaking, the Alchemy Colossus that had stood up already started to become more and more flexible, and even made quite a few complicated movements. Jeremiah didn’t understand the meaning of those movements, but how could Donald as a Master of Alchemy not know how hard it was for the Alchemy Colossus to perform those actions in the past!?
The other six Alchemy Colossuses stood up from the ground, apparently without any problems, at least for the time being. However, not all of them gained in flexibility like the first one did. After all, Angelano had only fixed the damaged parts, and was not obligated to give them a full-body checkup.
However, it was already shocking enough to know that the repair of the seven Alchemy Colossuses only took a mere several minutes. He managed to restore and even improve the seven Alchemy Colossuses within such a short period of time. That was incredible and godly.
“We still need to conduct further tests. I’ll take my leave first.” Seeing the situation, Donald felt that he could not continue staying there any longer. Besides, deep down, he was also eager to know the changes that had happened to the Alchemy Colossuses.

Donald bade them goodbye. Before the rest could react, he simply waved his hand and brought those seven Alchemy Colossuses with him to his own team.
At this moment, they could basically tell that the seven Alchemy Colossuses had indeed been repaired. Donald was most anxious to know about the changes in the performance of the Alchemy Colossuses, and he wanted to verify if the dwarf was telling the truth or merely spouting nonsense.
The Alchemy Colossuses were created by the first Master of Alchemy of the Rotterdam, Russell. It could be said that he was the one with the highest attainments in alchemy in the entire Rotterdam Kingdom. He was even almost a Guru-level metallurgist. Yet, Master Russell’s work was actually that flawed. If everything was real, the dwarf’s attainments in alchemy would be too terrifying.
“Terrifying” was not just about amazement with Angelano’s superb alchemical skills, but also something that would actually threaten the Rotterdam’s team. A metallurgist who understood the structure of the Alchemy Colossuses that well had to be very knowledgeable about the various weaknesses of the Alchemy Colossuses. If the two teams were to get into a conflict, the Rotterdam’s team would definitely suffer a great blow as the Alchemy Colossuses were their main combat power.
Hence, he did not ask that question out of curiosity, but rather really needed to know the answer to it. Otherwise, the situation would be extremely unfavorable for the Rotterdam’s team during the exploration of the Sky Castle.
At Donald’s gesture, the controllers of the seven Alchemy Colossuses each jumped out from the constructs.
“Did you guys feel anything unusual when you controlled the Alchemy Colossuses?” Donald asked in a low voice, hoping deep down that the signs of the Alchemy Colossuses being repaired were just temporary. Even though he suffered a bit of a loss, he didn’t really want to see a terrifying metallurgist in Lin Li’s team.
“Master Donald, aren’t you making a bit of a fuss? We have always had the technology of the Alchemy Colossus, and the other party must be cooking things up!” another leader of the Rotterdam’s team exclaimed. He did not think that that matter was worth Donald’s attention.
The person who spoke had curly brown hair that was draped across his shoulders. He was wearing a magic shield that was inlaid with a large sapphire. He was somewhat slim, and he was wearing dark golden magic armor with a large red cape. Although he was much younger than Donald, and seemed to be in his thirties, he was naturally a figure of status since he could be in the same team as Donald.
“Your Highness Kanber, if the other party is just an independent expedition team, we really don’t need to be too concerned. However, you should have seen that even Martin was very polite to that young man. This shows that they must have an unusual relationship with the Brilliance Shrine. Under such circumstances, if the other party really has such a metallurgist, we must be prepared in advance to avoid being in a passive situation,” Donald explained patiently about his concerns.
Although Donald was the chief imperial mage of the Rotterdam Kingdom who enjoyed high prestige, he was far from comparable to the princes. Prince Kanber was clearly not the same as the other princes, either.
The king of the Rotterdam Kingdom, Halsanki, had dozens of children, with the oldest being over 50 years old and the youngest less than 10 years old. He could be considered to have dedicated his life to growing the size of the royal family. Among the princes, Prince Kanber was ranked 17th, but he was known to be the most promising successor for the throne.
It was said that when Prince Kanber was born, the bloodline in his body mutated. Although his High Elven bloodline was quite diluted, it was already dozens of times thicker than that of the other members of the royal family, even more so than the old King Halsanki’s. That was the reason Prince Kanber became a Sword Sage with power at the peak of the Legendary-realm at the age of 30. He was also doted on by the old king.
In fact, from the fact that Prince Kanber had become one of the leaders in that operation, they could tell that King Halsanki was already starting to pave the way for him to inherit the throne. If the Rotterdam’s team could complete the mission successfully under Prince Kanber’s lead, no one would be able to question his eligibility to inherit the throne, since he would’ve made such a huge contribution.
Hence, facing Prince Kanber who had the biggest hope of inheriting the throne, even a highly respected figure like Donald had to show enough patience and express due respect. If it were someone else, Donald, given his status and prestige, would not even have to explain anything.
“Okay, okay, older people just like to be suspicious,” Kanber said while waving his hands. He then turned around to find a place to sit down, no longer caring about what Donald was going to do.
Donald shook his head helplessly, and said to the metallurgists who were manipulating the Alchemy Colossuses, “Tell me, did you feel anything unusual during the operation of the Alchemy Colossuses just now?”
The several metallurgists looked at each other. With an apprehensive look, one of them said, “I don’t know if it’s related to that dwarf’s repairs, or if it’s just a placebo effect, but the Alchemy Colossus does seem to feel a bit different now. I purposely performed some actions that would normally damage the Alchemy Colossus easily, and it didn’t seem to have reached the limit of what this Alchemy Colossus can withstand.”
“How can that be? Every single component of our Alchemy Colossuses is made from the best materials. Its performance has reached its limit, how could there be such a change just because that dwarf prodded it a few times!?” The metallurgists who had never controlled the Alchemy Colossuses began to express their disbelief after hearing those words.
Indeed, just like they said, the Rotterdam Kingdom had always had alchemy as foundation, and the Alchemy Colossus was the most advanced product of alchemy. It was also the representation of the kingdom’s strongest combat power. Hence, it was naturally valued greatly. Even the most insignificant screw of the Alchemy Colossus was made using a very precious magical metal.

Ars Magica
Our vision comes back into focus. Our eyes, while being able to perceive the immediate surroundings, still leave us with our minds uncomprehending towards what is actually occurring. Sure, there are definitive things that we can focus on, like the fact that we're either out upon the open sea or the open ocean, there not being much of a difference with no land in sight, as well as the fact that we appear to be upon a haphazardly constructed metal boat, whose seams are barely able to keep a hold of themselves in the crashing waves. However, that does not let us understand what exactly is causing the waves in the first place. If we were to rewind time, we'd find ourselves upon a calm sea under a peaceful sky with the only difference, being a small whirlpool that would be the precursor towards this uproar around the boat. Lightning flashes in the sky, with no clouds being near, and anyone actually manning the boat has either died towards the cause of the smashing tides in the first place, or are fighting amongst the flashes of lightning, all while trying not to become devoured, demolished, and utterly decimated by the beast roiling in the whirling waves. To better understand exactly what is happening here, there is one singular event that needs to be understood, that needs to be explained, and that is the arrival of a creature named Dave. Stepping back from current events and going towards this creature's first appearance in the world, we begin to hear the sound of water slowly dripping across rocky ground. The cavern is utterly silent except for this one constant, its cause feeding channels downwards, sloping towards cracks in the rubble along the floor from broken stalagmites and stalactites. And there, lying on top of something which had fallen over recently, judging from its cracks, is a person, the creature named Dave. His form is fast asleep, either from the impact or from an intoxication, judging from the smell upon its breath. A bright light suffuses into it for a second, giving life towards the pale skin, before it slowly dies down back to the comfortable black of the cave that it's within. Before this moment in time, Dave did not exist in the physical world. At least, not in the reality that he finds himself born into. We do not know whether or not his existence is simply a cosmic joke, or something that is being played out on purpose. All that we do know, is that one moment, the body was not in the cave, and simply formed in the next. The actual earliest time that we know Dave exists, is the interpolation of the memories of J-209, which we'll begin looking into shortly to gain context towards the coming narrative that is being written and hastily trying to keep itself written. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Warning: This story has several things which might turn its readers away. The first is that this story has shifting points of perspective. Don't worry about that previous sentence too much though, as the main character will always have a first person perspective associated with them. However, any other character from which we're viewing the story from will either be in third-person, as we are not necessarily in their shoes at the moment, or in first person, given that the narrator is an actual physical presence within the story. For the most part, chapters will be self-contained with their perspectives, so there will not be an abundance of switching perspectives within the same chapter. The most that an average reader would have to worry about is the fact that perspectives can switch between chapters. The second thing is that the main character is a bit on the 'special' side of things. He's not exactly mentally there most of the time, so there will be some times that his personality or his thoughts do not actively align with his actions. The third, and final thing of importance, is the fact that past the first couple of chapters, nothing has been planned in advance. There are arcs and plots that I want to do, want to implement, or have already been set into motion from our main character's introduction to the world, but the method that I use for my story writing and generating leads towards a bit more random chance being enabled. Basically...there's a lot of dice rolling behind the scenes. To not complicate the story further than its regular LitRPG elements, the rolls will not be publicly available. However, there will be knowledge within the author's notes on whether or not there were positive or negative critical rolls that had occurred within the chapter. You have been warned. Updates: Mondays & Fridays (Schedule permitting) Typical Chapter Length: (2,000-3,000)
