Necromancer: Divine-Level Summoning Chapter 13

Very quickly, the two of them arrived at the arena.
It was a huge square filled with students that were seated and resting.
The square was divided into five different areas, according to the intensity of the magic waves triggered during the battle.
Each individual area was a complete battle arena, and from high to low, it was divided into five levels: red, yellow, blue, green and cyan.
They corresponded to the rankings of the mages: beginner, intermediate, advanced, archmage, and magister respectively.
Of course, the highest level experts in the entire Soul Suppression Academy were definitely not only Magisters, but those experts would no longer be students, but already serving as teachers.
If there was a duel between teachers, they would definitely fight outside the city. Fighting in the city would be too destructive.
Back to the arena.
Every student could enter the battle arena according to their own strength.
For example, Beginner Mages could enter the Red-level arena. As for those below mages that were not yet at the Beginner Mage Rank, they were only fit to be spectators in the arena.
Keaton and Audrey's goal today was the Red-level arena.
At this time, the battle arena was extraordinarily noisy. Whether it was the new students or the upper grade students, all of them were gathered here.
"There are so many people today, Keaton."
Looking at the crowd around her, Audrey sighed.
Kedan wasn't in the mood to answer, since Audrey was speaking like an idiot. He simply threw his arms behind his back and walked toward the beginner dueling ring.
"Hey, I'm talking to you. Why are you ignoring me?"
As Audrey spoke, she followed behind Keaton.
As they walked, they heard a commotion coming from the beginner mage arena.
"Damn it!"
"You're a second year student and already an Intermediate Mage. Why did you come to the Beginner Mage arena to beat up rookies like us?"

"How shameless can you be?"
"Did you see what you did to us freshmen? Our faces are swollen."
"Shameless, this person is too shameless. He can't beat the mages from the intermediate arena, so he came to bully us freshmen who have just entered the second stage. I'm going to tell the Teacher!"
Hearing the noise coming from the arena, countless freshmen standing outside the arena stopped their steps.
"There seems to be an upperclassman coming over to torture the noobs. Should we go in today?"
"Forget it. There are so many people watching today, including the girl I like. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of everyone."
"Let's leave. We can come tomorrow anyway, right? There's no rush for today."
...
Unlike the freshmen in the arena, the freshmen standing outside the arena all put on a nonchalant expression, as though it had nothing to do with them.
The whispering crowd wondered if they should leave this place and return tomorrow instead.
"Keaton, maybe we should leave."
Audrey turned her head to look at Keaton with a worried expression.
However, Audrey's pleas were destined to fall on deaf ears. Keaton was completely focused on the huge screen of the arena.
Different from other levels, the beginner magic duel arena was relatively weaker due to the freshmen's weaker magic.
However, the number of battle wins within a battle arena stages of this level far exceeded that of other battle arenas.
Dueling Platform No. 1: Year 2 student Karlot has 12 consecutive wins.
Dueling Platform No. 2: Year 2 student Clarke has 9 consecutive wins.
Dueling Platform No. 3: Year 2 student Snooker has 11 consecutive wins.
...
Duel Stage No. 9: Year 2 student Shaynce has 6 consecutive wins.
Audrey's heart skipped a beat when she saw Keaton's solemn expression.

"Don't tell me that you want to challenge these people on behalf of the masses…"
"Keaton, don't be rash. These people are all second grade students."
"Didn't you hear what they said? Some of them have even become intermediate mages. How can you beat them?"
"Especially Karlot. He has a 12 match win streak, which means he has already won 13 matches in a row. How can you win against that?"
As Audrey spoke, the data of the person named Carlot was updated again.
His stats changed from 12 to 13, meaning another challenger had just been defeated.
"Come, follow me in."
Without another word, Keaton opened the door of the arena and walked towards Stage No. 1
"Keaton, don't be rash. We…"
Upon hearing Audrey's continuous explanations, Keaton let out a long sigh.
If it was not necessary, who would be willing to consecutively challenge nine upper grade students?
Keaton was no fool, and certainly not the kind of man who liked to show off.
His goal was to make a fortune silently and pretend to be a pig to eat the tiger.
However, Keaton's system would not let Keaton rest of his laurels.

[Ding! Detected that the host has arrived at the beginner mage arena. System mission has officially begun!]
[System Mission: Nine consecutive wins]
[Mission Difficulty: Level 1, Intermediate]
[Mission Description: As a detestable necromancer, the best way to clear your grievances is to defeat those arrogant and orthodox mages.]
[Mission Tool: Mana Restoration Potion x10!]
[Mission Requirement: Host has to defeat all the upper grade students who continuously occupy the Dueling Platform within a day!]
[Mission Reward: After success, the system will give the host 300 points of mana and 300 System Shop points.]
[Penalty for Failure: If the host fails to complete the mission, the system will automatically leave the host and find the next suitable host.]
[Note: The faster the host completes the mission, the higher the rating will be. The system points will also increase!]
_________________________________________________________________
The difficulty of this system mission was much higher than the previous three missions.
However, the reward given by the system this time was much more lucrative. Just the 300 Mana points was enough to push Kedan to the peak of a beginner mage.
This was not the most valuable thing. The most valuable thing would be the 300 System Shop Points.
According to his previous experience, the faster he completed the mission, the more points he would receive.
If he could reach an SS rating, the system points would be multiplied to become 600 points.
Although this would not allow him to summon another deer girl, he could obtain another six perfectly disguised Skeleton Soldiers.
One had to know that the Skeleton Soldier's basic attack was comparable to two standard fireballs.
Once Kedan had 10 perfectly disguised skeleton soldiers, he would be able to dominate all lower grade students in the Soul Suppression Academy.
At that time, his life would be even more comfortable.
"You don't have to persuade me anymore. The justice in my heart doesn't allow me to retreat."
Audrey looked at Keaton with admiration. At that moment, the image of Keaton in her heart suddenly grew manifold.

Leaves of Terranthir
DISCONTINUED - I won't be writing more of this fiction. Check out the latest post for a worlbuilding summary / final thoughts. Leaves of Terranthir is a gamelit blend of ARPG, action, fantasy, and slice of life. It's inspired in part by some of my favourite games, borrowing in themes, sense of exploration, and aesthetics from the Soulsborne and soulslike genre, mixed heavily with arpg itemization from Diablo/PoE style games. While many may remember their Soulslike experiences as nothing more than suffering, I personally loved the sense of progression, to prevail over challenges and monsters that seemed impossible to defeat at first. If any of that seems interesting to you, do check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. Cheers, and thanks for reading. Cover by Baconstrap.
