The Last Embrace Chapter 368

Six days later.
At 5:00 in the afternoon.
Jessy and the queen were having a conversation in the study room.
"Mother, Ruth is going home tonight, I'm just thinking about the baby. How about if I will leave the baby outside their door? You know...although Ruth will no longer remember her baby daughter but maybe if she sees the baby outside the door of their house, her maternal instinct might be awakened and she will then decide to adopt the baby. I know it's kind of impossible, but it might work, we just have to try...please?" Jessy suggested.
Queen Margaret was silent for a moment.
"Okay, but make sure the baby is safe. If they will send the baby away, take her back, we should be the one to take care of the baby at least we know for ourselves that we will not harm the baby, besides we owe it to the baby because we erased her mother's memory," she said, she was feeling a little bit guilty already even before the actual time to erase Ruth's memory has not come yet.
Jessy smiled. "I will, Mother. I just realized that it's too cruel to separate the mother and daughter during this critical moment that they needed each other the most."
"Now that's settled. I will wait for Ruth in the study room later at ten o'clock in the evening after your blood transfusion," Queen Margaret said.
Jessy rose to her feet. "OK, Mother. I will leave now to resume blood transfusion in the clinic."
The queen nods her head. "Go on, child."
Jessy exited the study room quietly.
While she was walking in the hallway, she was thinking of Jagger. She still needs to know if all his power has come back in full force and what he will do next if that is the case then? Would he start planning revenge towards the facility again? Hopefully not, or else she will have to kill him for good if he even has the slightest notion to resume his revenge.

She doesn't want that time to come. But she already knows what to do just in case things will progress to that level.
Upon arriving at the clinic, she went inside to resume blood transfusion.
...
Two hours later.
Jessy teleported to the residential area located outside the city and had a quick tour around Ruth's house. The house was quite spacious, and modern in style when it comes to interior and exterior design, it's located in a peaceful neighborhood. Based on the house's appearance, Ruth belongs to a wealthy family.
She explored the inside of the house.
There are two middle-aged folks in the living room sitting side by side together on the sofa, watching television together.
They must be Ruth's parents.
The house was grand looking and the folks are okay. Everything looks good, no need to explore the second floor. The place is safe for Ruth to come home to.
Jessy planned to go to the city to buy a bassinet for the baby. She will send Ruth home first, then a few minutes later, she will leave the baby outside the door. She will not go home unless she was sure that they will keep the baby inside the house. She was hoping that Ruth's maternal instinct will easily connect with the baby and she will keep or adopt her daughter as her own. If not... then she will bring the baby back to the Facility.
Jessy left the house and teleported into the city, she landed in a dark alley.
She advances towards the busy streets where the majority of the stores were located. After a few minutes of walking, she found a department store, she went inside and sauntered towards the baby's clothing section.
She found two cute portable baby bassinet on display, she was debating which one to buy since both of them are cute...one is color pink and the other one was tangerine in color.
After a few minutes of deliberation, she picked up the color pink bassinet and ambled towards the cashier's section. Done paying the bassinet, she was heading out of the store wanting to buy some take out food for her mother, before she entered the department store she spotted a pizza parlor across the building, that's where she was going next.

She was about to get out of the store when the guards immediately closed the glass door, preventing anyone from coming and going out. Then she saw people outside panicking and running in all directions in the street.
"What's going on, guard!?" she asked one of the guards.
"There was a mass shooting happening across the street, you see that disco club over there, there were gunman inside and shooting at random people, several wounded victims were already lying in the ground outside the club, the gunman was last seen entering the disco bar and probably at this moment they were already taking the people inside as hostages," the guard explained.
Jessy left immediately and went to find the restroom. She happened to pass by a baggage section inside the store, she left the bassinet in there and continue towards the restroom and then entered one of the empty cubicles.
Inside the cubicle, she transformed into her invisible form, then teleported outside the department store. She zoomed towards the disco house...and watched in horror upon seeing the carnage outside the venue...gunshot victims were lying in the pool of their blood outside the disco bar...she made a mental head count...about ten victims ranging from teenagers to adults...looks like they were just passerby in the streets that was unfortunate to pass by on this dangerous place at the wrong time.
She heard the police siren and ambulance closing in on the area.
Jessy's eyes scanned the main door of the disco club, it was closed, the gunman must still be inside holding everyone hostage...or worse all the customers inside were already shot dead.
She quickly zoomed inside the establishment.
Inside, Jessy was even more horrified to see not only one gunman but two of them brandishing their assault rifles at the terrified faces of the disco goer as they all huddled together in the corner like a terrified chicken about to be slaughtered. Tables and chairs were upturned, splintered glasses were scattered everywhere.
The whole place smells death, so thick that it's nauseating especially if you stare at the loaded rifles pointed at your face. Jessy understood very well the raw emotion of fear and panic emanating from the faces of these hostages cowering in terror in front of the terrifying gunmen.
The masked men were swinging their assault rifles for everyone to see.
Sobbing and crying can be heard from the ladies while the men are completely frozen in fear as Jessy saw five more victims sprawled on the dance floor, bearing multiple wounds that are visible to the naked eye and blood oozing from the open wounds of their body. Two of the victims were no longer moving, they must be dead already!
Jesus Christ!
Why these men are randomly killing people!?
One of the masked men loaded another magazine and attached it in his rifle...his companion did the same.
Jessy knew for a fact that they were ready for another round of killing rampage, they are planning to kill everyone inside the disco club! Based on her rough estimate there are more than fifty people trapped inside.
Holy Christ! Where these evil men come from?
From hell?
One of the masked men spoke...his voice thundered around the place.
"Friends, I just want to inform you that my baby here," he was tapping at his rifle... "Is carrying 30 rounds of magazines, we got a total of 3 magazines here enough for everyone...everyone will get bullets on their head as a gift from us...so yeah... we all die tonight...let's start the party...hell yeah...welcome to hell!" the deranged man took off his mask and grinned diabolically.

The Way Ahead
What do you do when you don't fit in? Edwin never really felt many connections to other people, but as a physics student, that was fine. He didn't really need it, anyway. He was content to peel back the mysteries of the universe... not that there were many left to find. Modern-day research was just too well-established, too well-trodden for any single enthusiast to make any significant headway. But that doesn't apply to other worlds. Not ones where magic and Skills run rampant, where well-defined roles and Classes dominate much of society with little room for novel experimentation from its residents. That kind of world would be perfect for an overeager, newly-minted Alchemist to make his mark. Things are never that easy, though. The Way Ahead is a very slice-of-life story following the story of someone trying to find his place in a world that doesn't know what to do with him. Expect lots of science, lots of alchemy, a few sarcastic quips by the System, and lots of exploration involving the world, self-discovery, and above all, science. After all, further research is always required. Updates every other day at 9 AM PST. Congratulations! For writing a story during the month of November, you have unlocked the Royal Road Writathon Participant path!
