The Last Embrace Chapter 221

Jessy walked towards the frozen arrows, she plucked them one by one and inspected them...she was amazed because the bow can shoot six arrows at the same time. She picked up the bow from the ground and inspected it, the craftsmanship is intricate and superb!
"This is an awesome weapon, how can one bow released six arrows at the same time—?" Jessy murmured in amazement.
"Easy..." one of the warrior picked up a bow and loaded it with six arrows in the slots and took an aim releasing them into the ground nearby. "These savages elevated the bow's performance at a higher level! I must say they are creative!" he said praising the slain enemies.
"Interesting!" Jessy handed the bow to one of the white-cloaked vampires.
The warriors gathered all the enemy's weapons for future use.
She looked at the warriors. "You can now go back inside the cave guys, I will unfreeze the women, much better that they won't see you so that their fear will dissipate quickly. I will take care of them and bring them to the other side after a few minutes of calming them," she instructed them to leave the area.
The warriors followed Jessy's command and they went back inside the cave.
When Jessy can no longer see the warriors back, she faced the frozen women, she waved her hand on them, unfreezing them instantly.
The moment they can finally move their body the women were about to continue fleeing...
"Calm down ladies! Please don't run! I'm here to save you all. Please don't be afraid!" she shouted at them.
The women looked at Jessy frowning...
"Who a-are you? Are you a vampire? Are y-you one of t-them?" one of the women asked in a stuttering voice.
Jessy shook her head. "No. I'm not one of the savage vampires. But trust me, I'm human just like you...see...I don't have fangs!" she opened her mouth wide showing her teeth to the frightened women.

They finally let their guard down.
They suddenly run towards her—seeing her as their potential savior.
"Please help us get out of here! We want to go home!" they said in unison and some of them start crying again by just the mere mention of returning home.
"Shhhh...please stop crying girls. I will make sure all of you can go home safely," she said. "Now all you need to do is follow my command, okay? Let's go back inside the cave," she ordered.
None of the girls followed Jessy's order, instead, they looked at her with distrust and horror.
"A-are you gonna imprisoned us again in the cage? No! We can no longer go back there!" fresh tears were running down their faces, as if the mention of the cave repulsed and terrifies them, they refused to go back inside the cave.
"Girls please trust me, I'm here to help you all! Please let's go back inside the cave, we need to get your friends outside their cages and free them as well..." she coaxed them.
Still, the ladies refused to listen to her.
One of the women sprinted trying to run away...Jessy's hands moved instantly freezing the fleeing woman before she can run far...
The rest of the woman gasped in horror upon seeing one of them got frozen, their eyes widened in fear, awareness registered in their mind that the stranger in front of them might also be a powerful enemy trying to trick them in coming back to the cave.
Jessy already anticipated what they're going to do next...
They start moving...trying to run away from her!
Jessy has to instantly freeze them on the spot to prevent them from fleeing, then she released a deep sigh.
She was shaking her head while watching the women, poor women! they must be so frightened that the thoughts of coming back into the cave are like a death wish for them.

Jessy gathered the ladies and teleport them on the other side of the cave.
She finally landed near the entrance along with the frozen ladies, she was greeted with the raw smell of blood and lifeless bodies lined up in the ground.
Jessy began checking out the dead bodies, trying to find the leader, damn! she can't find him!
Warriors come and go bringing more dead bodies coming from the inside of the cave. She scanned each of their faces...he's not among the dead!
A few minutes later when the last dead body was taken out from the cave. It's positive, the leader was not among the dead!
Jessy sighed deeply. The leader of the savage vampires probably saved his ass during the chaos!
King Antone and his men were able to dig a wide hole in the ground with a fire burning brightly in the center they were now ready to burn the dead bodies of the slain vampires.
Jessy's heart was suddenly gripped by a deep sadness watching too many dead bodies in front of her, no one should be dead! There should be no more war and fighting! Why can't everyone stay good and support one another and foster peace in their hearts so that blood will no longer be spilled into the ground?
Why can't it be done? WHY?
Why war and conflict have to happen all the time?
It's such a sad event, in every war and battle there are always dead bodies to burn or bury after the war ended.
Jessy saw that King Antone was wearing a grim expression on his face looking far ahead in the distance.
She sauntered to his side. "Father, what is it?"
"Nothing child, I'm just feeling weary of the never-ending killing that's happening all my life," King Antone replied absentmindedly. He looked at his daughter-in-law, "Have you found the leader?"
Jessy shook her head. "I was looking for the leader among the dead bodies but I can't find him even his shadow. Do you think he already escaped, Father?" she asked.
"That's more like it," the king answered.
"Did you already killed the women, the old and young, Father?" she asked because the dead bodies she saw were all males.
"They were still in the cave, about thirty of them, my men were guarding them right now," the king responded.
"Y-you want to save them, Father?" she choked on her words, hoping for a change of his mind.
King Antone sighed. "If I will let you decide on their fate, what would you do with them?" he asked.
Jessy was dumbfounded. Her heart was whispering that she got to save them but her mind says no, it's the contradicting decision that got her confused. "If we set them free, what will happen to them?"
"They will die in the wilderness if they can't find a permanent blood supply unless the leader comes back and took them back under his wings again. Their leader is the most capable being who can abduct humans to become their source of blood supply," the king replied.
"So, if the leader won't come back for them, they will die sooner or later?"
"Yes," King Antone nodded.
Jessy and the king fell silent while watching the bodies of the slain vampires thrown into the burning pit...
Jessy was thinking of a solution. "How about if we asked Mother to erase their memories?"

Fall of a Civilization - Modern Apocalypse
Today was an ordinary day. The same day as every day. The start of a monotonous day for some while being an exciting one for others. Today was supposed to be the latter for me. My first day in an abroad country, coming here for my studies. But everything changed when the world started spewing monstrosities, abhorrent creatures, and powers. This is the story following Rudy, who gets trapped in a foreign country when the world decided to metaphorically flip its table. If the [horror] tag didn't already tell you, this story tries to give more focus to the monsters than other Litrpg's and also intends to have a much more serious tone. My writing may be sub-par as I am a starting writer, but I promise to strive and improve as I keep writing along with your feedback and response. Updates will be at every 3 days.

So expect to see: -A mature main character who still has some flaws. -Character development over the course of the story. -No harems! (see last point) -A vibrant world full of interesting people, deep culture, and mysterious lore that gets uncovered as the story goes on. -Plenty of funny moments along the way! -The presence of a few cliched tropes and stereotypes only for the sake of poking fun at them. NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.

Life is Feudal
No OP stuff, status bars, levels or skills. This story is in favour of more realistic setting in a world of humans and various monsters. "Behind the mask of the assertive, resolute facade that employs ruthless routes at any given moment, lies the frail, anxious heart that were once but a puny human. Reviled and revered by many, none would ever know my true allegiance lies within myself, merely trying to survive this mess." Just the life of a grumpy man child living in a terrible piece of shit or a desolate state in which I call an alternate historical take on medieval Europe. Living as a peasant who is forced to take up arms to defend his own kin. This story grants an insightful take on the life of people living under constant danger, from vying nobles who commit atrocities in the name of justice, eager nations and barbarians aiming to take a piece of the bountiful land and mythical divine monsters who resembles a walking catastrophe in any possible way. [If you're easily offended by alternate-history religion and cultural practices, then you shouldn't read this.]
