The Last Embrace Chapter 175

Thirty minutes later the couple was now touring The Habitat to see how the occupants were progressing in their residences.
They were greeted with a wide smile from the new mortals they met in the hallways, they were quick to praise their cozy accommodation...the spacious building, the cool amenities, and the delicious food.
Adam and Jessy were delighted to see huge satisfaction and happiness in their eyes.
They looked down below and saw children swimming in the pool with their families, some teenagers were now playing in the basketball and tennis court area. Far ahead, they see several people walking in the park. The transformed mortals were very much enjoying the condo resorts amenities.
"Let's go to the rooftop deck and see the view up there!" Adam suggested.
"Okay, let's go!" Jessy said excitedly.
They climb the stairs all the way to the 15th floor.
"Why do we have to take the stairs when we can use our power?" Adam said scratching his head.
Jessy grinned. "This is called exercising after eating a hearty breakfast and I have to remind each of us that we should not abuse our power," she replied in amusement.
"Whatever!" Adam said while panting...sweats were glistening on his forehead.
A few more steps to go and they will arrive in the rooftop deck.
Finally, they reached the top of the stairs!
"Whew!" Adam let out a groan.
No one is around, they have the entire rooftop deck for themselves.
"Wow!" Jessy went to the railings and roamed her eyes in the whole area as far as her eyes can see. "Amazing, I never knew there was such a stunning view up here!"
"Lol, what's impressive in the sight here, Jess? We have seen a lot already up in the air..." he said.
Jessy pinched his side playfully. "Don't say that... the little girl inside me always admire spectacular places like this!" she pointed her hand into the vast forest that surrounded The Habitat. "I love seeing lush greenery everywhere, so cool and refreshing to my eyes!"
"Nothing new here," Adam commented.

"You're such a killjoy!" Jessy pouted at him.
"Let's sit down on the bench!" Adam walked to the nearest bench and sat upon it.
Jessy followed him, Adam began wiping the sweat on his face with a face towel then Jessy took the towel from his hand and volunteered to wipe the sweats on his back.
Done wiping dry his back, she returned the face towel to Adam.
"Thank you Jess!" he said. "We will stay here for a few minutes and then go back to your room so that I can properly say bye to you," he said winking at her.
"Okay Boss!" she said.
Jessy loves the gentle breeze of the wind caressing her skin, blowing her hair.
Fifteen minutes later.
"Time is up!" Adam said.
"Okay let's go now, after you...Boss!" Jessy said grinning.
"Jess...you go first...I will watch your back," Adam said, leading his girlfriend gently towards the exit.
They began descending the stairs, occasionally smiling at each other's sweaty faces.
"This is fun!" Jessy said aloud.
Finally, they reached the ground floor.
The couple sauntered towards the direction of the function hall.
From there, they opened the secret door and went down to the underground tunnel linking The Habitat townhouse and the Facility.
Since no one is around, they were free to hold hands, Adam was quick to steal sweet kisses on Jessy's cheeks every chance he got and Jessy loves Adam's spontaneous romantic gestures.
"Let's teleport now!" Adam hugged Jessy tightly and they disappeared from the tunnel.
They found themselves inside Jessy's room.
They kissed on the lips passionately for a few minutes before Adam bid goodbye.
"Bye Jess! I love you!" he said.
"I love you too!" Jessy replied and blew him a kiss before he disappeared from her eyes.
Sigh. Adam was already gone.
Time to go to the clinic and starts another round of blood transfusion.
She went to the closet and picked up new clothes, she needs to get rid of her sweaty clothes before she will proceed to the clinic.
Ten minutes later she was on her way to the clinic.

She met Princess Abigail in the hallway.
"Jessy! I'd been looking for you all over the place!" Abigail said.
Jessy halted on her tracks. "Why?"
"Mother and Father want to talk to you, they will be waiting for your presence in the study room tonight after dinner," the princess said.
"Okay, tell them I will be there," Jessy replied.
"I will go now, don't forget, okay?" Princess Abigail said.
"Yes of course," Jessy nodded her head.
"See you later," the princess said and turned around walking the other way.
Jessy sighed, tonight's conversation would be centered around Hannah, Zain and her.
Well, she's ready for anything.
She finally reached the clinic and pushed open the door.
"Sorry, I'm late, Doc!" she said while easing herself into the bed comfortably.
The doctor raised his head. "It's okay, you're not late, I'm still preparing the tools for the blood transfusion...give me a second... we will welcome the first recipient for the day in a few minutes," he said.
Jessy looked at the doctor's back.
"Doc, I want to test the anti-vampire vaccine on one of the transformed mortals. I just want to know if the vaccine can still harm the transformed vampires. Now that the 600 mortals were already residing in The Habitat, I am afraid that the government will suddenly appear in the Habitat doorsteps and requires everyone to be vaccinated. I just want the mortals to be prepared for that time to come," she explained.
The doctor looked at Jessy, she caught his undivided attention. "We need at least one volunteer that is willing to be vaccinated, can you find one?" he said.
Jessy shook her head. "Hmm...I still need to find one volunteer...I will also try to obtain the anti-vampire vaccine one of these days," she answered.
"Okay, as long you had one volunteer and you already got the anti-vampire vaccine ready then bring that person here in the clinic so that we can test it on that person. I am also curious to know the result," the doctor said.
"I will let you know if I already found the volunteer, Doc. I think I already have a candidate in mind, but I need to convince that person first," Jessy murmured.
"Okay good. Now we shall start the first blood transfusion for the day," the doctor said.
"Bring it on, Doc, I'm ready!" she said smiling at the doctor.
The first recipient entered the door and the blood transfusion process has just started.
The first blood transfusion went well that morning.
Break time.
Jessy had a lunch break in the canteen together with her mother in the corner, far from the workers' earshot.
"So you and Adam were seeing each other?" Sarah asked her daughter.
"Yes, Mother dear," she admitted.
"And how's Zain nowadays?"
"He's still the same, Mother. He still won't give up on me. But the royal couple will hold a meeting with me and Hannah tonight to discuss the possibility of telling the truth to Zain. I guess it's about time for him to know the truth so that he can learn to forget me, and then Adam and I can freely express our love for each other," Jessy said while munching on her foods.
Sarah sighed.
"It's tough being loved by two brothers, Jessy!" Sarah not only felt sad for her daughter but she also felt sad for the fate of the two brothers. The situation between Zain, Jessy, and Adam is volatile and chaotic, but their lives were intertwined from the very beginning. Being her mother, Sarah wishes that her daughter will end up happy with the man she truly loves and adored and it seemed to be Adam is the one. She had seen how her daughter's eyes twinkled like the stars the moment Jessy laid eyes on Adam's face in the function hall, there was so much love and adoration in her daughter's eyes and Adam was also sporting the same look plastered on his face while looking at her daughter.
"Mom, are you okay? Why did you turn silent all of a sudden?" Jessy asked frowning.

Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me. Fateless: The Silver Lining
It has been ten years of peace for the Union since the end of the great war with the eastern barbarian tribes, yet in the cold north of the Union's land, a new threat is looming. This time, an ambitious Lord is seeking to restore the yore pride of his kin, forcing the weakened Union into yet another unwanted war, as he ramps up the ranks of his army with thieves, murderers and mercenaries.* * *The temperature inside the forge was nearly twice as high as the one outside. A black-haired girl hammered a steel ingot into the shape of a blade. The heat of the steam was draining her stamina away, but her focus remained sharp as her sweat streamed down her face. Hit after hit, for hours, the sound of the hammering steel followed the rhythm of her breathing. Exhausted, she placed the blade into the water and wiped the sweat off her face using a drenched rag. Why are they screaming? Vatra dipped the rag back in the water, twisted it, and approached the window. Her mouth opened as her world shattered again into the living nightmare she had wilfully tried to forget. She bit her lips; it wasn’t a dream. The pulse of her heart rose. A cold sweat prickled her back. A mother was running, and a child was screaming. A torrent of smoke was emerging from the roof of her neighbour. Vatra’s eyes blinked. The mother lay on the ground, a spear through her back. A torch circled in the air and landed on the roof of her workshop. In the distance, a man wearing a banner well known to the world… Fateless is a philosophical medieval dark low fantasy centered on war, militaristic campaigns and geopolitical conflicts between multiple empires. This story follows the fate of Vatra, a former slave from the eastern Nar Empire who was raised in a culture far away from her own, forced into warfare against her will, and the fate of Lanaya, an ambitious half-angel exiled from her home whose existence is seen as heresy. As they wished for peace, both chose a path opposed to one another until their fate crossed. In this story where war dictates the law, love strikes them as a poisoned balm to which they grasp for with all their might, as it is in the darkest of times that the smallest flames may burn the brightest. * * * Tome 1 already completed and available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Fateless-Silver-Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot/dp/B09LGSH1KK Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Hugo-Emmanuel-Simard-Wallot-100547579135891/ I will publish 1 chapter per week (sometimes 2 if the chapters are too short for my liking).
