The Last Embrace Chapter 155

Jessy and her mother went down to the Core of the Facility where the gold was mined and being polished.
They went down hundreds of stairs to reach the holding point. The stairs ended in a holding area the size of a basketball court, but the ceiling was a few inches from their heads, it has chairs and tables, several vampires were scattered in the area, looks like they were resting.
Sarah spotted her husband in the corner inspecting some tiny shiny stone on the surface of the table, the stones look like gold as they went nearer to his side.
"Husband!"
"Dad!"
Hector turned around and see his wife and daughter standing behind him, they got a bright smile on their faces, suddenly he feels like the sunshine has found its way underground.
"Wow! I got a surprise visit from the two of my favorite women in the world!" he beamed and hugged his wife and his daughter.
"Our daughter here wants to see you," Sarah said.
They all sat down in the chair facing each other.
"How are you, Dad?" Jessy asked.
"I'm fine, how about you? We seldom see each other, looks like we are both busy, eh?" Hector said.
"Yeah," Jessy answered.
"How's the progress of the blood transfusion? How it's going?"
"Up to yesterday, a total of 580 vampires has already been transformed successfully into mortals, so, in the next five to six months...we are looking forward to closing the number to 1k," she said.
Hector smiled proudly at his daughter. "I'm so proud of you my daughter! The sacrifices you had to make just to fulfill the prophecy is not an easy task to carry...but I'm happy to see that you are willing to bring to completion the seemingly impossible task assigned to you," then he sighed. "Don't worry, when all this will be over, we can finally go back to the mansion and continue our lives as a family," he said wistfully.

Sarah smiled at her husband and rubbed his back lovingly.
"It's getting tiring hiding all the time inside this Facility, I want to see the world outside again," Hector continued with sadness in his eyes. He can still remember the days when the anti-vampire vaccine was still nonexistent, all vampires can roam around the world, they are free to go anywhere they want. They enjoyed freedom for many centuries, but when the savage vampire clans start killing human beings left to right, the government was alarmed, to the point of encouraging the best minds in the society to create any weapons that can annihilate all vampires and one day the vaccine was finally created, now the remaining vampire clans were barely surviving, driven to extinction hiding below the grounds like starving rodents, no way out.
Jessy saw the sorrow and sadness in his father's eyes. "You look so tired, Father," Jessy commented.
"Yes, I am," Hector admitted. At least he was honest enough to admit to his daughter that their situation is really bad. "The risk is high that we may never be able to get out here alive, as you already know, the military officials won't stop until all vampires will be annihilated from the face of the earth," there was real fear leaping from his eyes.
Jessy sighed. "Father...please don't lose hope, I can do blood transfusion with you in the clinic so that you and mother can finally leave this place and go back to the mansion and live like ordinary humans," she suggested.
Hector shook his head. "No. I can't leave this place, I can't abandon my clan when they needed me the most, I will stay and help the King and Queen in managing the Core, I might be fearful for our safety but I'm not a coward, I'm willing to die with my clan," there was an iron will vibrating in his voice.

Jessy looked at her mother. " How about you, Mom? You can leave this place and go back to the mansion, Nana Aida is waiting for you...you will be safe there," she offered.
Sarah shook her head, misty-eyed. "No. If your father chose to stay here I will also stay here. Besides, I managed 5k human workers outside the Facility, their safety is my responsibility. During times of chaos, I needed to be there in their midst to guide them, as you can see daughter, your father and I were carrying heavy responsibility on our shoulder, the kind of responsibility that we can't just shake off like dust. And I'm sorry to say that you...being our daughter...you are also being dragged to all of this," she sighed.
Jessy smiled a bit. "Don't say sorry Mother, we are all in this together. If you and father won't leave the Facility then I will also stay here until the storm will pass so that we all can go back to the mansion together once I finished transforming all the vampires."
Hector, Sarah, and Jessy looked at each other with full understanding that they will remain intact as a family through thick and thin.
"We will go overseas after we get out here alive, wife," Hector said.
Sarah smiled sweetly at her husband. "Yes...you still haven't forgotten what you promised to me before that you will take me to another beautiful country and do sightseeing as a tourist," she said.
"Of course, I did not forget my promise. Sorry that you ended yourself in this place unable to roam the world freely because of me. It must be a terrible fate to have a pathetic vampire husband," he said with sadness in his eyes.
Sarah kissed her husband's cheeks. "I have no regrets that I fall in love with a vampire-like you. I have no regrets, please bear that in your mind," she said.
"You have no regrets even if one day this Facility will turn into ashes and we can no longer go back to the mansion alive?" he said.
Sarah nodded her head. "Yes. I'm willing to die with you, my husband," she responded.
Sarah and Hector embrace each other and also includes their daughter in the embrace.
A few moments later...
Sarah wipes the tears from her eyes, she can't help but feel emotional.
Jessy looked at her parents, tears shimmered in her eyes...she was trying hard not to cry. One more reason why she has to find a way to prevent the government from bombing the Facility, she wants to see her parents back in the mansion alive so that they can live their life in a normal way and travel the world together as a family.
She will do anything for her parents.
She will do anything to guarantee the vampire clan's safety.
She will do anything to see Adam continue enjoying his mortal life.
Even if one day she will pay a heavy price for it.
One hour later.
Sarah and Jessy already bid goodbye to Hector.
Hector return to his job to supervise the mining of gold in another tunnel that he and his men had recently dug.
Sarah and Jessy went back to the Middle part of the Facility.
They go their separate ways after reaching the Middle part of the Facility...Sarah has gone back to the Outer part and Jessy went back to the clinic to resume her blood transfusion duty.

My Girlfriend, the Necromancer
The power of the Orb cleaves the skies and shatters the earth. It heralds the advent of a new era, one where humanity is no longer at the top of the food chain and we must rise to the challenge when faced with our own extinction as a species. I could hardly care less. All I ever wanted was to love my Allie, to grow old and wrinkly by her side as I held her hand before taking my last breath on this green earth. To have our love echo through the ages, an ode to the last great love story on the planet, one that would endure the end of humanity, the breaking of the world, and even defy the dread summons of Death itself. It’s said that when the gods unleash their fury upon mortal kind, they grant their wishes. Well, crap. This is a gritty end of the world survival story with modern fantasy/romance/game-like elements in it. The main focus will be character development while stats and menus are there as a fun vehicle to empower the imagination. This is a work in progress and I deeply appreciate any helpful suggestions, so please don't be shy with input! Currently posting at least one chapter per week.

Of Gods and Dungeons
March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.

A Hero Among Monsters
A worker goblin in service of a Dread Lord wasn't expected to do much more than maintain the sprawling, underground Machines Works. Although he imagined doing more, Tad had long accepted that he'd likely end up an old man like his boss, Glum, happily toiling among the gears and cranks. When an enigmatic orc named Hohza suddenly recruits the pair of goblins into his War Party, their duties to the Dread Lord Withering Sorrows switch to battling dwarves, sprites, and elves. If Tad survives, he may get to experience a world wider than he'd ever dreamed ... which may be too much for everyone else! New chapters are posted weekly on Thursday mornings.
