The Last Embrace Chapter 141

Jessy teleported into the mansion in her bedroom to take a shower and scrub her body clean from the blood of that psycho killer she just killed in the park a while ago.
She went inside the bathroom and discarded her dirty, bloody clothes and let the running water from the shower washed away the filth from her body. She lathered her body with soap five times to make sure the blood of that serial killer has been washed away from her skin completely.
She already killed two people to date and looks like the killing has no ending as long she will be constantly provoked to protect herself and the people she loves, she hoped she doesn't have to kill anymore because she feels remorse after she had done the killing. She will try not to have any mercy towards those military officials whose aim is to keep hunting the remaining vampire, as for Captain Mercado he is one exception, she will not try to punish him with death as long he will stay out of her way. But then he was just a government official with a lesser rank who accepts orders from his superiors, as long those superiors of his stop the operation against the Facility then Captain Mercado will stop as well, she no longer has any reason to kill anyone.
She soaked her body in the bathtub.
From there she continues thinking on how to effectively protect the surviving vampires now that their hideout was already exposed. She wondered if the adjacent resort-themed condominium habitat that was meant for the new dwellings of the newly transformed mortals is safe? As far as she knows the military officers only focus on the Facility, she hopes they will leave the new habitat alone or else it's gonna be hard to continue living in the human world even if the vampires were already transformed into 100% mortal being.

She was thinking of another place for the vampires to hide...
It will be a pretty difficult undertaking because they also have to relocate the 5k human beings, dang! the vampires' situation was getting super difficult as days passes by.
She closed her eyes...
As long she can find a way to protect the vampires silently without alerting them to the truth that they were already exposed, then everything will be alright, the thing she feared the most is when they know and they will start panicking. The vampires might do something stupid and act impulsively resulting in the total annihilation of the entire clan. The sad truth is that the vampires were outnumbered even with superpowers they can only afford a few moves on their own... but then if the entire military force will shift their attention to the Facility, the vampires' hideout will become a war zone and getting pulverize from all directions.
It will be a tragic outcome and she will never be able to fulfill the prophecy.
Although she can walk away and abandon the vampires just to save her ass...but then it would be impossible because her father is a vampire, her conscience won't let her abandon the very essence of her own existence. Being a crossbreed with a human and vampire blood, she carries a big responsibility on her shoulder and a decade long prophecy to bring to completion.
Done with her bath, she feels better.
She exited the bathroom and changed into her pajamas. She will sleep in her room for a few hours and go back to the Facility in the morning.
She needs her beauty rest because tomorrow she will undergo another round of blood transfusion.
Jessy lies down in the bed preparing to sleep.
Her thoughts went to Captain Mercado, she was wondering what was the confidential files that were inside the brown envelope that Colonel Brown has given to the captain? He mentioned of a mission, was the mission related to the vampires or entirely a different thing? damn! she forgot to check the envelope's content.

If something happens to the facility while she was away then it's all her fault!
Although she had erected five layers of barriers protecting the facility from any outside threats, there's no guarantee of how long the barriers will hold on just in case the military will nuke it.
Just to keep her mind from going insane, she must obtain that brown envelope and see what the mission was all about.
She shuts her eyes and forced herself not to think of anything so that she can sleep.
Two hours later, Jessy succeeded in falling asleep soundly in her bed.
...
The next day.
Jessy woke up to a bright new day.
It's already 8:00 in the morning.
The sun was already shining outside the window of her room.
She rose to her feet and went inside the bathroom.
A moment later she descended the stairs and went to find Nana Aida, she found her beloved Nana in the kitchen cooking breakfast.
"Good morning Nana!" she greeted the older woman wearing a bright smile on her face.
"Jessy! I didn't know you are here, since when did you arrive?" Nana Aida asked.
"Last night, Nana, I went straight to my room to sleep, I did not inform you because you are already sleeping. I'm just dropping by to check on you and to visit my rose garden," she said.
"Okay, you go ahead and tend to your garden, I will call you after I'm done cooking our breakfast," said Nana Aida.
Jessy sauntered towards the kitchen door and walked on the pathway leading to her rose garden.
She took her time admiring her rose garden, they continue to bloom with flowers even if she can no longer take care of them every day, she has to thank Nana because she never forgets to water the plants in her rose garden. She holds the water hose and began watering the plants.
A moment later.
Nana Aida called out to her. "Jessy, breakfast is ready!"
Jessy returned the water hose and walked toward the kitchen door. She washed her hands in the sink and went to the dining room.
Their breakfast consist of mouthwatering ham, scrambled eggs with lots of onions, sliced bread, and hot coffee displayed deliciously in the table.
Nana Aida and Jessy starts eating breakfast in silence.
Thirty minutes later they were done eating and Jessy helped Nana Aida washed the dishes in the kitchen sink.
"You can leave now, Jess. I will finish cleaning the rest of the kitchen," Nana Aida said.
"It's okay Nana, I still have thirty minutes left to spare before I will go back to the Facility, let me help you a bit," she said.
Nana Aida smiled fondly at the younger woman beside her. "Okay, as you wish...."
A few moments later, they were done cleaning the kitchen.

Divine Progress
Progress is a dubious god. After failing him, three people are banished from modern times and sent to another world. Seemingly out of place, Christoph is snatched from his own time and plunged into a world of violence and magic with no deity to lend him support. Instead, Progress has seen fit to curse him with an eternal hunger for magical energy. Branded as a demon, he must fight for survival while battling the servants of the god who sent him there, struggling against the 'gift' that Progress bestowed upon him and the past he sought to abandon. Can he make his way across the lands and gather enough strength to survive without the blessings of the Divine? Or will the gods bend him to their will, breaking him if he seeks to resist? This is not a short story, and the plot will take many twists and turns before Christoph's journey comes to a close. After all, it is not the destination, but the Progress that matters in the end. Like many other stories on RoyalRoad, this is my first piece. Feedback is more than welcome, so please leave a reply if you have a comment or question.
