Magical Academy: Rise Of The Supreme Magic Craftsman Chapter 48

The battle between the 4 academies continued and Wallace was able to notice the quirks of each academy that weren't on the intelligence report from the student council.
As a member of the council, Wallace was able to see and share with his fellow participants the information that they've gathered. Aaron, the student council president had given him some printed copy of these intelligence reports allowing them to better understand their opponents.
Some of the information they have were like how Stoneheimer's magic engineer instructors, alumnus, and current students are all specializing in earth and wind-based elemental pathway.
The Skywalker specializes as well in a wide variety of pathways as long as they are fast-paced spells. The academy believes that pursuing speed casting was the right path in the magician's battle.
The Mystic Gate academy, known for its mana artifact creations pursued elemental combinations. They are not satisfied with elemental spells and like to combine their elemental pathway. This is a very powerful path but also quite difficult for mana technicians and combat mages as well. Luckily, only 2nd or 3rd-year student of this academy is capable of creating and utilizing the mana artifact.
Anyway, almost all 1st years would use their own acquired knowledge in this competition instead of the path that the academy had taken.
Compared to Leonhearts Academy, it doesn't specialize anything in artifact forging but known for its amazing training method for combat magicians allowing those who graduate here to be sought after.
It isn't bad to have specialization in artifact since you have to consider the future.
The mana artifact has grades depending on its complexity. The highest rank is Grade A and the lowest is Grade C. But the grades magic spells or skills that could be used have 5 ranges. The highest rank this time is Grade 5 and the lowest is Grade 1.

The artifact that Wallace made containing Magic Jammer Canceller, was graded A because of it's complexity.
The Grade C complexity was those standard mana artifacts that contain mana spells that could be released easily by even a rookie magicians and has less valuable materials in its mana artifact.
With all those said, only those magic engineer who reached a profound understanding in their elemental pathway was able to create a Grade 5 magic spell. As a matter of fact, there weren't even a dozen of them recorded in the whole Zairus. So it was said that its better for mana technicians right now to have them select an elemental pathway they like to further study especially when they became magic engineers.
The battle between the 4 academies lasted only for half an hour.
"Amazing, those students from Mystic Gate has some kind of ability somehow interferes in magic casting."
"All the mana artifact that is being used by the 4 academies were Grade C with Grade 1 or Grade 2 spell as the limits. The spell that they're using must be the unique magic spell that is only for this magic competition."
"That's true, I haven't heard of any spell that could stop magicians on casting except the legendary magic jammer."
Everyone who has heard of this nodded as an agreement. The audience watching the battle below couldn't help but be amazed at that part. It seems that the Mystic Gate Academy has sufficiently prepared.
Mystic Gate won completely against Stoneheimer scoring 3-0 and Skywalker had only lost the first battle against Eternal Fey scoring 3-1.
After about 5 minutes of cleaning the battlefield or stage, dozen of automatons stood guard at the edges of the arena. Only the referees are allowed on the stage during the battle.

Wallace took notice of these automatons as he was very interested in how they were made and very much like to have one for his use.
'Hmm... Are they guarding the edges of the arena to prevent any misfire to the audience as well?'
Wallace spread his Divine Sense to check the automatons and while doing so, he noticed a Lamat stone that has a dormant magic jammer contained in each of them! It seems that it is a second protection aside from the barriers protecting the audience from any misfires of these combat magicians.
'As expected of the Capital, it seems that this competition is really important for the country. Dispatching two dozens of these important automatons that have magic jammers must be already the treasure of this country.'
Wallace felt that someone was also sneakily tracing his Divine Sense so he immediately retracted his skill.
'It came from that direction, it must be the security. After all, it would be a nightmare for the country if something happened to these automatons.'
Standing at the edges of the arena may look like they are unimportant machines. But it seems that it is a secret for these automatons to have magic jammer. He better have to stop himself from further checking these automatons as it seems to be highly guarded by security personnel too.
"It was now the start of the next battle! Leonhearts vs Honeysuckle and Isolde vs Abuxorth! Another exciting battle is about to commence!"
Felicia continued her job as the students from the academies entered the arena. The first fighters took the stage and readied for battle.
"Leonheart's Michael vs Honeysuckle's Grant"
Michael is wearing two mana artifacts since the 3 mana technicians, Samantha, Alice, and Escanor created a total of 8 mana artifacts. Being a vanguard, his victory would give confidence and would set a mood for the whole team. Possessing 2 or more artifacts is a must to have a better chance of winning.
His Bracelet of Earthen Spirit and Paleness Ring were created by Samantha.
As soon as the signal to start the battle was made, the two had activated their mana shell.
"Earth Attunement!"
"Blinding Fog!"
Michael made the first move and cast 2 magic spells.
The spells that are unique to its mana artifact was activated, it was all due to the materials that the 3 mana technicians gathered. By having these special materials, the magic structure they could use would also be special allowing them to have special magic spells. It is unlike those Enchant Series and other which are standard and can be placed in almost any mana artifact materials.
The Earth Attunement allowed Michael to have a grasp in any movement in the stage even if he was also blinded by the fog he summoned.
"Hmph! Wind Enchant -- Howling Wind!"
Grant seems to disdain this type of magic as he calmly used a spell to push away the fog.
As soon as he thought that the wind he summoned could remove the fog, the wind seemed to only pass by and hadn't affected the fog itself.
Grant frowned at this but didn't lose his composure.
'I should strengthen my defense then. As long as you got near to me, I'll give you a surprise.'

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
