I Am Not A Mage Lord Chapter 29

After the old mage apprentices spoke, a total of 200 mage apprentices from the 10 teams instantly took action. They split into two groups and approached the giant stone tablet, which had a circumference which would require 10 people linking hands just to encircle it.
One group stood about four to five meters away from the giant stone tablet and reached out their hands to touch it.
The other group chose a spot slightly closer to the stone tablet and sat down with their legs crossed, minimizing the interference from the outside world. Then, they silently activated the breathing technique to sense the solidified secret energy particles in the stone tablet.
Meanwhile, Lin Qi glanced at the actions of You Sirui and her group. Copying their actions, he sat down and felt the slight prickling feel of the grass on his buttocks. He maintained a meditative state.
The way to sense the stone tablet first was to sharpen one's blade without delay.
However, those who had sat down already held sharp knives in their hands.
Lin Qi cleared his mind and adjusted his breathing frequency to enter a state. He nearly jumped up in shock. Many mage apprentices present even grunted.
Their hearts pounded violently, only the word 'shock' lingered in their minds.
Even though they were descendants of mage families and were already mentally prepared, they still took a long time to extricate themselves.
After graduating from primary school and passing the "magic talent test", everyone present entered a special high school under the "magic system".
It could be said that breathing in the secret energy particles in the air had already become second nature to them, just like eating, drinking and shitting.
To ordinary people, feeling the secret energy particles was like trying to feel water vapor in the desert. Therefore, a large number of people failed the test every year.
For talents like them, the intensity of the secret energy particles in the outside world was water vapor on a cloudy day that could just barely be detected.
But on this Star World Island!
The strength of the secret energy particle was almost as strong as a storm!
The "stone tablet" was a deep spring that could not be taken in with just one glance!
Could this Star World Island be a high-energy training space that the Association specially set up for the apprentices?
Like the others, Lin Qi extended his "antennae" into the stone tablet with this question on his mind.
In that instant.
A mysterious dazzling symbol that seemed to have existed since the beginning of time filled every corner of their range of vision.

Countless streams of information and energy interwoven into the depths of everyone's minds like a web.
Some of the mage apprentices felt as if they had witnessed the truth of life. They burst into tears on the spot and even cried bitterly.
There was nothing better than this.
After a series of shocks, Lin Qi, who was hiding in his memory palace, quickly regained his rationality. He mentally analyzed that the Sisma language was fundamentally different from "traditional language". It was a "symbol system" that was purer.
The golden light inside the stone tablet represented the mysterious symbol of the pledge. It was in a three-dimensional shape, and its structure was complicated and exquisite. Every plane carried extraordinary power and profound resonance.
The moment Lin Qi saw this symbol, it was as if he was standing in the river of history, listening to its narration.
Apart from knowing the meaning behind this symbol, he also knew that when everyone passed through the tunnel, they would be implanted with the "confidentiality contract" spell.
They had to separate their consciousness from the stone tablet and find the "pledge" symbol in their memories. Thereafter, they would have to activate it and make their pledge.
In other words, they had to memorize this special symbol first.
They had to memorize it within a few seconds.
Lin Qi's consciousness left the stone tablet and returned to his memory palace. He walked to the bookshelf labelled "Star World Island" and slowly opened the book "Symbol Memory" that had just been generated.
In an instant, the "pledge" Sisma symbol, which had been copied from many angles by Lin Qi in the book, including several side profiles and perspectives, exploded after emitting a dazzling golden light.
Lin Qi felt a sharp pain in his eyes. Immediately after, the picture of the memory book was like a painting that had been dipped in water, thick ink dissolving into a shapeless mess.
The Sisma language had the characteristic of "memory repelling"!
At this moment, the mage apprentices who were born into normal families had clearly encountered the same situation. Some apprentices who had felt very smug at successfully memorizing it within 10 seconds, were now slapped in the face by this cruel reality.
They nearly blurted out "I passed", but had to urgently suppress those words so much so that they almost choked.
When did they, a group of "memory experts" who easily crushed their peers, ended up in such a pitiful situation?
It was just a myth that goldfish only had a seven-second memory. But didn't this mean that they were worse than a fish?
Countless magic apprentices turned around and entered the stone tablet again. They continued to charge at the mysterious symbol that was full of magic power.

"Do you need a hint?"
The young girl You Sirui, who was sitting behind Lin Qi, asked with a smile. Her companion also looked at Lin Qi with a smile, anticipating his dazed expression.
"Hehe."
Lin Qi grumbled but without looking at the other party's response, he turned around and entered the stone tablet again.
The entire process only took twenty seconds. Was he anxious?
He also roughly understood why the memory palace could not remember the "mysterious symbol" and would silently disappear.
The same memories!
The memory books in the memory palace were all his buried memories. It was just that Lin Qi could accurately pick them out and read them.
This proved that the Sisma language was truly completely erased from his memory.
It was as if the disk had been rebooted. No matter how much he tried to recover it, it was useless.
However, according to what Mo Feng said, the mage apprentices could still vaguely remember some of the mysterious symbols after much hardship.
He had the memory palace so as long as he was willing to try, he could memorize it faster.
Otherwise, no one would be able to pass this test.
Lin Qi's eyes locked onto the mysterious pledge symbol. He split his attention into two to materialize part of his consciousness in the memory palace.
However, in the next moment, he did not borrow the power of the "memory book". Instead, he removed the horizontal bar of the bookshelf as material and held it in his hand to transform it into the complicated symbol.
Fortunately, his 3D-modeling skills were more accurate than that of a 3D printer, and the entire symbol was quickly copied.
Mission accomplished.
Lin Qi shook his head. The turquoise blue sky of Star World Island took up his view again.
He smiled silently. The symbols in the memory palace books had indeed melted away. He could barely tell if there was any improvement at all compared to the last time.
But the mysterious symbol model he made from the palace's special material had bypassed the rules and remained intact.
Thirty seconds.
Lin Qi nodded in satisfaction and asked, "Mr. Mage, are there any rewards for breaking the record?"
The old mage locked his gaze on Lin Qi, slightly surprised. "If you succeed within three minutes, 10 people from your team can be allowed in. An additional 10 if you do it within two minutes, and then 10 more if you manage under one minute."
Upon hearing these words, the crowd burst into an uproar.
The apprentices in the venue all understood that it was fine if there was a distance of five to six meters, but if tens of thousands of people were to squeeze into this venue, the people on the periphery would definitely not be able to feel anything. It would be like watching a concert from the top of a mountain.
This was the reason why they were divided into groups.
If there was really someone who could break the record and bring in 30 people, it would definitely form a huge advantage and lead to a snowball effect. The space around the stone tablet might all be occupied by the people from the same team.
The hearts of the mage apprentices from the other teams raced when they heard this, interrupting their thoughts. They opened their eyes. But after the initiator, Lin Qi, asked, he closed his eyes in silence again.
It made people secretly vexed. They believed that Lin Qi was just putting up a false show.
Little did they know that Lin Qi was idly counting down.
In fact, he was not very interested in acting cool.
If there was no reward, he would have to keep a low profile until 2 minutes and 56 seconds, to only be a second faster than last year's record. Any second faster would be a waste.
However, now that Wang Ruoling was at 37th place, he would definitely not be stingy in helping her.
Time gradually passed until it was just over 55 seconds.
Lin Qi suddenly turned around and looked at You Sirui, the teenage girl from the major mage family.
"Have you realized your limitations?" Noticing his gaze, the girl retorted confidently.
"No." Lin Qi shook his head. "I'm thinking you're clearly so thwarted and yet so confident."
With that said, he stood up, visualized the pledge symbol in his mind, and shouted—
"I swear to never reveal anything about Star World Island!"
It was earth-shattering!
The stone tablet instantly shot out an aurora that was like a bolt of lightning that swept around Lin Qi's body, and it transformed the confidentiality contract that was implanted within his body into a mysterious force.
"Lin Qi, the pledge is in effect. Passed in 59 seconds." The old mage raised his eyes, which were shining brightly.
All the mage apprentices at present looked up silently at the figure in the white magic robe walking towards the castle ahead.
It was unforgettable.

Chronicles of Xod (returning from hiatus)
After a long recovery over a chronic motion sickness issue, I feel I'm ready to return to writing this book. It might be slow at first, but I'm hoping to pick up where I left off. I apologize again for the long hiatus. The pages following are a true account. An account of how I, Josh--a teenage nerd from modern suburbia--ended up in a strange world filled with fantastic magic, bizarre creatures, and terrifying dungeons. Despite the troped-up fantasy feel of the world, this is hardly an ordinary tale. For one, don’t expect a happy ending. With the trials I’ve been through, the horrors I’ve seen and the atrocities I’ve committed, believe me when I tell you, this is not a happy tale filled with friendly rainbow bears or teenage flying unicorns. It’s more likely you’ll finish this book mentally scarred as I will not spare the details of my unfortunate adventures. With the help of my trusted companion Gui, I gain an insight that no one else in the world has. This knowledge allows me to exploit and, for lack of a better term, metagame the system which gave me a clear advantage over its residents. “With great power...,” someone might begin to quote to me. In my defense, I think maybe even you, reader, might have acted similarly with how this reality changed my view of good and evil. This story will be updated regularly on Wednesdays around 6 PM. There will only be about 1000 words per update. The focus is to finish the story before doing any major changes or editing. Please read as if this is a work in progress, not a finished product. Feel free to let me know if you see any error, whether glaring or minor. If you help me out, I'll be sure to add you to a thank you list at the front of the book when it is published. Chronicles of Xod is a first-person fantasy novel that follows the adventures of a young man from Earth. Through unknown circumstances, he finds himself in a fantasy world where life is not all wonders and happy endings. The story takes common fantasy concepts from my favorite video games, books and movies and gives them an adult edge. It also introduces some taboo concepts often glossed over by stories written for broad audiences. The style is meant to be immersive and heavily detailed. The short novel will be written in a way that attempts to bring a sense of realism to an unrealistic genre. Where there are realistic consequences and dangers in a world populated with violent monsters, cruel demons, bloodthirsty undead, and immoral bandits. In this fantasy world, the inhabitants are essentially gender blind as far as sexuality is concerned. There is also more variation amongst male and female physiology. This isn't meant to be any kind of promotion or demotion of social behavior in reality. Just a concept I thought would be an interesting idea to have in a fantasy setting. I highly discourage anyone from reading this material if you are personally concerned with being offended or traumatized. Both violent and sexual content will be graphically detailed. All characters involved in sexual scenes are mature and of the age of consent(18+).
