Sword Among Us Chapter 542 – Fight the Mighty Northern Clan
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Happy remained still even when he faced an oppressive momentum that came at him from all directions as he stood on Dragon Tiger Arena. He stood proud and tall, and his robes fluttered loudly, but he never frowned. He just stared at the strongest of the young genii, Bei Lie, from the mighty northern clan with an indifferent look.
Bei Lie might look very heroic and built, which gave him a careless appearance, but he was a very keen person. It was something Happy could tell based on the words he used to help Dongfang Xiong regain his dignity.
When Bei Lie heard Happy speak in such an arrogant manner, he did not dare to be careless. His expression sank, and an astonishing heat wave that did not lose to Dongfang Xiong’s final move came charging at Happy.
However, this heat wave did not contain any aggressive force. Instead, it had the presence of a furnace that would never be destroyed, and it caused sparks to appear in the air.
The mighty northern clan managed a business selling all sorts of weapons, and their disciples all had exquisite skills. They trained beside furnaces since they were young, and each one practiced the mighty northern clan’s unique Zhurong’s Qi Cultivation Technique [1]. They had astonishing understanding and control over fire and power.
Bei Lie was also born with great strength, because of which, he was an outstanding person in his clan!
The moment the fight started, Happy sensed a suffocating pressure from the well-built man. Fortunately though, after he activated Golden Essence Nine Yang Skill and circulated his qi once, he recovered. But he was still wary.
The Murong Clan Lady was not exaggerating. Bei Lie might really be the strongest among the young generation in the eight aristocratic clans.
Dongfang Xiong had already forced Happy to use Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palm to carve his way to victory, but now an even stronger opponent showed up. Happy sucked in a deep breath and cast a glance in the direction of Guo Jing and Huang Rong, who were both below the stage.
‘I shouldn’t care about them anymore! I’ve already exposed knowing Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palm, but they did not interrogate me on the spot, which means that I have room to ease up the situation. There’s no need for me to continue hiding. I must place the priority on winning.

‘I’ll think of what to do after I win against Bei Lie!’
“ROAR!”
The originally muffled dragon roar suddenly increased in volume, and the dreary sound filled the arena.
The people at the foot of the stage were worked up by the dragon roar that was not at all hidden. Many of the martial artists had surprised expressions when they sensed the familiar dragon roar and mighty momentum from Happy…
Even Bei Lie’s pupils shrank. He stared at the dragon-shaped vortex surrounding Happy’s right arm, then held his breath slightly and revealed a solemn expression that was never seen before on him!
Right when he was about to speak, Happy took the initiative to attack. He did not give him the time to exchange words.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The palm-generated wind was incredibly fierce and tough.
Bei Lie raised his arms to block it. He did so easily, but he quickly realized after the next few punches that Happy’s strength was increasing with every punch, and he immediately became on guard.
“I knew it, he is indeed adept with the skill!”
While attacking, Happy’s fists became even faster due to the vast increase in speed provided by Golden Gloves. He attacked with both palms, and he soon executed eight punches. His momentum instantly increased to an astonishing degree, and even Bei Lie frowned. He had to retreat slightly under Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palm’s fierce punches.
It should be known that when Happy went up against Master Yuan Mie at Punishment Mount, his mastery of Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palm was not very high, but he could already suppress Yuan Mie with a firm hand at the tenth move.
Right then, the realm of his technique was already very close to great completion—the eleventh realm—and its damage had increased by more than one thousand!
Bei Lie was somewhat unable to handle the eighth move, and he sensed that things were going bad.
But Bei Lie clearly did not have a great understanding of Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palm as Yuan Mie. He thought of suppressing the increase in Happy’s momentum, but when he realized that the situation was not going great for him, Happy was already in front of him, and he had already gathered up a qi wave with a diameter of three feet. It resembled half of a dragon’s body. Furious roars rose soon after, and it crashed violently against Bei Lie.

“Break it!” Bei Lie shouted. His arms flashed red, and he pushed quickly forward.
BOOM!
A loud bang rose on the stage.
Even though the fight’s momentum could not compare to the time when Guo Jing and Zhang Wuji fought, the eyes of the elites who were watching the fight between the two young martial artists lit up and their blood boiled.
It was a true clash.
The two sides were actually well-matched, and they fell back at the same time.
Oh, wait, that was not true.
Just when everyone thought that the two would end the fight in a draw, Guo Jing suddenly discovered that Happy had turned his left hand into a claw. The inertia when he retreated instantly vanished, and as if god himself had decided to attack, he seized Bei Lie’s arm.
All the spectators below the stage instantly burst into an uproar.
They watched with wide eyes as a huge golden dragon appeared behind Happy. It was large and mighty, and it stared into Bei Lie’s eyes coldly. Then, as Happy punched forward without any hesitation, the golden dragon came charging downward at a speed of lightning with its great body.
Bei Lie did not have the time to react. He grunted and was pinned against the sturdy stage by a violent energy.
Bang!
He landed on the floor with his back, and a large circle of cracks appeared on the stage.
A huge power crashed against Bei Lie’s chest in an endless stream and broke down the body fortification around him.
At the moment the great dragon vanished, Bei Lie’s body fortification announced its destruction. His robes were torn and he was drenched in blood, which made him look incredibly pathetic.
A large number of people at the foot of the stage were dumbfounded!
Happy had used ten moves to force Dongfang Xiong to admit defeat on the stage. But if anyone said that he had resorted to trickery to win, then he had truly only used ten moves to pummel Bei Lie, who shared the same status as Dongfang Xiong, to a bloody pulp.
After all, Bei Lie could not compare to A’san from Ruyang Mansion!
A’san’s defensive technique had already reached transcendence, but he still could not remain damage-free under that one move, and if he could not do so, then what need was there to say anything about an outstanding disciple from an aristocratic family…
Happy did not attack again.
He placed his hands behind his back while he calmly watched Bei Lie stand up slowly. The image of the great dragon behind him might have disappeared, but his blood was still boiling, and his momentum remained. As long as two minutes did not go past, he could still deliver damage that was greater than before.
“Bei Lie, come down!”
An old voice with endless might traveled forth from the seats among the eight aristocratic families.
Bei Lie cast Happy a deep glance. His gaze was incredibly complicated, but he grunted coldly, “Thank you for your time.”
Then, he turned around and walked down the stage.
Happy obtained the notification that he had won two fights in a row.
Happy took the initiative to wrap his fist in his palm in the direction of the eight aristocratic families, and his clear voice reached their ears. “Is there anyone else from the eight aristocratic families who would like to fight against me?”
At that moment, there was no one below the stage who dared underestimate Happy’s strength anymore.
Even though he was only in Life and Death Realm, what he showed just then was definitely the power of those in Inaction Realm!
The people from the eight aristocratic families discussed among themselves. Nangong Ruoshui never went up the stage, which showed that no one believed that she could do any better.
“Happy is about to get into trouble…” The woman beside Guo Jing smiled. “If the eight aristocratic families do not dare to fight, there will definitely be someone who will fight against him. If there’s someone who has a grudge against the Murong Clan, this is the perfect time for them to suppress Happy.”
As if to verify Huang Rong’s assumption, a loud voice rose from beneath the stage. “You disciples of the Murong Clan truly look amazing and vicious once you steal the martial arts from other clans. I, Long Armed Ape Shen Tong, will fight against you!”

Paladin
When the first derelict alien spacecraft fell to Earth, humanity took what was found in it and propelled themselves to new heights. In their new Golden Age, humanity developed technology that they had only dreamed about. The following years saw hundreds more ships crash into the planet, spurring even greater technological leaps. An unassuming spacecraft, one of the dozens that fell yearly, descended on Siberia in 2021. The world took no particular notice of it. However, this one contained something beyond the miraculous technology that had made humans so prosperous. Three years later, in a top-secret underground facility in eastern Colorado, the automated construction of an army of Paladin Mobile Infantry Suits was underway. With this new, state-of-the-art weaponry, the military would turn the tide against the alien incursion that was consuming the planet. Humanity fell before that could happen. Sam was an engineer responsible for overseeing the facility. Now alone, he lives in utter boredom and near insanity, his only company the base’s pseudo AI and an army of empty Paladins. With the world gone to hell around him, and the things that caused it still living above, he decides that he is much better off staying exactly where he is. Unfortunately for him, that is no longer an option. This is the first novel I've written. The first fifteen or so chapters are going to be a little slower. I want there to be time to get to know the characters before they start blowing stuff up. Also, though the MC will be strong relative to the world, he won't be OP, and won't win every fight. Not every fight will be physical either. Currently, I'm aiming for something like 5 fairly short chapters a week, after the introduction part is done, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if I've made mistakes!
