Sword Among Us Chapter 348 – Beautiful Robes Faction in Danger
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
Lecture Hall 1 in the University of South China took up a lot of space, and it could accommodate one thousand people. It was only used when a lecturer gave lectures. On that day, a few classes from a particular class year in the Computer Engineering Department were gathered together for a major class. They listened to an old lecturer with white hair giving a practical lesson on how to protect computers.
Phoenix Dances, the Three Lonely Wolves, and a few members of the higher management of Beautiful Robes Faction listened to the lecture seriously. Suddenly, however, all of their phones vibrated at once. With astonishment on their faces, they quickly brought out their phones.
They were stunned silent.
Phoenix Dances straightened in her seat!
Her expression was cold, and her eyes were fixed on the news on her phone.
Qi Ci stared at the message for a while. “We have trouble! Bai Lang, help us explain matters to Old Wang. Chen Fan, let’s go!” After saying that in a firm voice, he stood up without hesitation and headed for the door.
Phoenix Dances looked hesitant, so Bai Lang said, “Phoenix Dances, you go. I’ll tell Old Wang.”
“Alright!” Phoenix Dances no longer hesitated. She called up Glutinous Rice, packed her things, picked up her bag, and left her seat in a hurry.
The old professor watched the couple people leave in a hurry through his reading glasses. He hesitated for a moment, but then continued with the lecture.
The next moment, however, an even stranger thing happened.
“Ring…”
All sorts of clear ringtones rose and fell in different spots in the lecture hall, and they were subsequently followed by urgent and hurried conversations once the owners checked them. The professor quickly noticed that an increasing number of students stood up from their seats. They either quickly gave him an apologetic gesture for their impoliteness, or picked up their things hastily and rushed out of the lecture hall with their waists bent.
Even though the lecturer was already at an age that he was no longer very strict with his students and did not make it compulsory for them to arrive for lectures, when he saw so many students leave their seats at the same time, he realized that something was off. He stopped the lecture and calmly pulled off his reading glasses before he wiped them with his handkerchief.

‘Old Wang, you really are a good man.’
Some of the students who received the message did not immediately leave. They were hesitant and uncertain of what they should do. When they saw that scene, they whispered in their hearts that Professor Wang was the kindest professor who understood his students the most.
The professor’s sight was not good. If he took off his glasses, he could not see what was far away from him.
If he took off his glasses and wiped them for so long, the meaning behind his gesture was very clear!
Rustle!
More people left their seats in a hurry. More than half of the people in the lecture that originally accommodated nearly one thousand people disappeared. Quite a number of girls stared at their classmates in surprise as their left. Their eyes were wide and full of questions.
When the stream of people moving out calmed down, Professor Wang put on his glasses again and looked around.
“Come, let’s continue,” he said with a calm expression.
Just when everyone thought it had ended, the phones on the tables in the lecture hall suddenly vibrated and buzzed again.
*****
When Phoenix Dances, Qi Ci, Chen Fan, and Glutinous Rice walked out of the lecture hall and exited the building, they saw a few students move past them on their bicycles and greeted them.
“Faction master!?”
“The Wolves as well? Are you guys skipping class?”
“Perfect timing! Hurry up, lend me your bike! Get it when you run to our dorm later!”
The group did not wait for bicycle owners to say anything. They quickly occupied them and rode into the distance with great force. They left behind a group of their friends who held their bicycle locks with dumbfounded expressions.
It was only when they heard the thieves shouting thanks at them did they snap out of their daze.
“Did something happen?”
“Who knows?”
They looked at each other and smiled wanly. They felt as if they had been wronged, but only a little. They were dressed in heavy cycling jerseys, but they did not have bicycles with them, and it made them look sort of weird.
When they turned their heads around, they saw countless people surging out of the lecture hall with a sound as loud as a thunderstorm. They came at them like a tidal wave and rushed past them without stopping.

They were even more eager and anxious than when they rushed to the cafeteria, and it instantly caused the few cyclists to be rooted to the spot.
They finally recognized a few familiar faces.
“Hey, what’s going on?” They pulled one person over. That person had an anxious look on his face.
“Something came up.”
“Duh, I’m asking you what came up!”
The cyclists had already noticed that something bad had happened. First, Phoenix Dances and some of their other higher ups had left, and they were followed by hundreds of students from the lecture hall. Something major had to have happened.
“War! Someone attacked our headquarters! Didn’t you receive the news?”
“Damn it! I left my phone in the dorm.”
The cyclists finally understood why Phoenix Dances and her gang had snatched their bicycles so urgently. They were alarmed, and while still wearing their cycling jerseys, they joined the crowd leaving the building. They looked really strange in the moving crowd.
*****
“Class One Hall sure knows how to choose their time!”
“Don’t it? One Circle and the rest went to Baokang, and there aren’t many elites who are left to protect the headquarters. The seven-day period over Happy’s head isn’t over yet either. Class One Hall is serious this time!”
Once Qi Ci and Chen Fan analyzed Class One Hall’s attack, they soon noticed that Beautiful Robes Faction was in a perilous situation.
If Class One Hall decided to show no mercy and did not care about consequences, there was a high possibility that all the effort Beautiful Robes Faction had poured into its growth over the last few months would go down the drain. The number of elites in Beautiful Robes Faction right then was simply not enough to handle the attack from Class One Hall.
Phoenix Dances gritted her teeth.
“We must defend the headquarters no matter what! I promised him!” Her tone was firm, and there was an incredible resolve in it!
Qi Ci and Chen Fan said nothing. They cast Phoenix Dances a glance before they sighed with complicated looks. They then looked at each other.
*****
Fifteen miles away from Beautiful Robes Faction’s headquarters in Wengcheng was a middle-sized county town. There was a large crystal mine nearby, so there were many sects that were gathered in that county town.
However, ever since Beautiful Robes Faction began to forcefully expand a month ago, those sects were almost completely suppressed. The valuable crystal mine had also ended up in Beautiful Robes Faction’s hands.
However, due to time constraints and Stone King in the second level, Beautiful Robes Faction had never officially explored the crystal mine.
Class One Hall had somehow heard of it from somewhere. Two days ago, a large group of their people suddenly appeared in that place, and they submitted an application to build a branch there.
Class One Hall’s people had appeared very suddenly, and they did not leave the town. Besides, most of the elites from Beautiful Robes Faction had left to carry out their own tasks or quests. Hence, their arrival was unknown to Beautiful Robes Faction.
However, since yesterday night, the people from Class One Hall had began to frequently enter the training spots and various resource spots that Beautiful Robes Faction controlled. They even sent a group of their people to the crystal mines.
The conflict of interests easily led to disputes…
Some squabbles appeared between Beautiful Robes Faction and Class One Hall. However, at that time, both sides still managed to control themselves to a certain degree.
But on that morning, the situation rapidly went downhill. During a quarrel between Class One Hall and Beautiful Robes Faction, the people from Class One Hall suddenly went into a rampage and killed.
Immediately, an all-out war broke out.
The resource points in the wild, the training spots, and crystal mine were all burned by the flames of war.
Class One Hall, however, was made of a group of elites. They also seemed to have come prepared. They managed to quickly control the situation, and Beautiful Robes Faction lost more than one hundred men, which included the people in the crystal mine. All of them were killed and sent back to the county town.
Class One Hall did not stop there though. They led their people to Beautiful Robes Faction’s headquarters, which was around a dozen miles away. And they went there with the force of a storm.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.
