Sword Among Us Chapter 187 – The Grand Situation in Fox Cave
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
The ratio of time in World of Martial Arts was 2:1 to the time in the real world. A day in the real world was equivalent to two nights and days. Hence, night came very soon. The moon climbed above the trees and illuminated Immortal Fox Village so brightly that it looked like it was day.
Once Happy and his party walked out of the apothecary, the people in the village began to move, and the traffic became extremely great. The four of them moved with the bustling crowd headed to Fox Cave, which was not too far away from the village.
There were plenty of people in the crowd who still did not know that the sects had decided to work together to clear the area. They walked in groups of three to five, and their faces were full of excitement. They did not know what sort of nightmare waited for them.
When they arrived at the edge of the forest outside Fox Cave, they found that their path forward was blocked!
“The cave is full now! Those at the back, please wait, don’t try to push forward anymore.”
“Damn it, there are even more people today.”
“We’re seriously unlucky. I wonder if there will be anything left after we go in. If I knew about this, I would have started queuing up since noon.”
Quite a number of players in front consciously stopped moving. They began to discuss matters on the spot.
Happy and his party looked at each other, but they did not stop moving forward. They squeezed their way through the crowd, which was still not very packed at that moment, and arrived at the edge of the forest. It was only there that they felt the crowd pushing at them.
The edge of the forest was filled with people. Human figures could be seen packed closely to each other, and there were even more people standing on the trees. They hid everything that happened inside the forest. From what the group could see at first glance, it did seem like they could not enter the place.
However, once they looked more closely, they saw that the players at the edge of the forest and on the trees had emblems from various sects sewn on their chests. They were all gathered together and guarded different spots to form a defensive circle that refused most of the people outside the forest.
However, once many people participated in such a matter, there would naturally be people who would reveal some secrets. Besides, when there were so many sects involved, there would almost always be some people who believed themselves to be above others and who loved to boast.

“Stop shoving people! If you come any closer, I’m going to hit you! Stand by the side! Fox Cave won’t be open to the public today, please go back.”
If the person who had his path blocked had not been concerned over the party members standing behind the person who blocked him and staring at him fiercely, he would have definitely flown into a rage. At the very least, he would have mouthed back and thrown a tantrum.
But that sect had almost one hundred members standing together. The ones with more members might even have hundreds of people standing together. If they were all packed into a forest, a normal player who had to face them would definitely be lying if they said they felt no pressure.
Of course, there were also some who were impatient, anxious, and had the desire to show their strength. They jumped out from the crowd, kicked the air a few times, and flew above the crowd. They headed to the edge of the forest. Clearly, they intended to resort to trickery to be the first to enter Fox Cave.
“Get lost!”
A group of people ahead of him attacked at the same time.
Light rays of different colors shone. They struck the player who flew above the crowd at the same time.
“Don’t!”
“It’s a misunderstanding— Ah!”
Before the players who wanted to resort to trickery could get to the edge of the forest, they were cut to pieces in the air. They fell on the ground like torn dolls.
The crowd was stunned silent.
Some people cackled because of the fallen’s misfortune, but there were also some who managed to see through what was going on. They frowned, and their expressions grew solemn as well as suspicious.
Even though those people had flown over everyone’s heads and made those on the ground a little displeased, they should not have received such a tragic end.
Besides, the people who attacked were all from different sects.
They attacked from different directions, as if they had rehearsed it beforehand.
Puzzlement arose in the hearts of many people. They could somewhat sense that the atmosphere around Fox Cave had become slightly off.
As time passed, more players arrived outside the forest. Quite a number of those who were strong arrived at front to observe the situation, and all of them became incredibly puzzled.
‘Why does it feel like… there’s even more people around Fox Cave today?’
What baffled them was that some of the sects’ people had moved into the depths of the forest once they arrived. It did not seem that Fox Cave was as packed as the people outside claimed.

Everyone felt displeased and puzzled, and those feelings continued to swell in their hearts.
The time for Fox Cave to open drew near, and more arguments erupted at the edge of the forest. When many people saw the situation, they felt that if they did not enter Fox Cave right away, they would have wasted an entire day waiting for it to activate.
A continuous stream of people charged forward and tried to squeeze into the depths of the forest.
But the people from the sects showed an even tougher side and drew their weapons. They pointed them at the players at the edge and outside the forest. The uniform actions by the sects finally allowed everyone to understand what was going on.
“Damn you! If there’s still space in Fox Cave, why won’t you let us get in there?!
“You scoundrels! You’re thinking of monopolizing the resources in Fox Cave! Dream on!
“Damn it! You’re thinking of not letting us in? Don’t even think about having an easy time in doing so! Brothers, let’s fight against these bastards! AAHHH—”
The player in the crowd who shouted to instigate the anger of the other players received an arrow in his throat. Blood gushed out in streams from his neck, and judging by the looks of it, he would not be able to survive.
After a temporary period of silence, the overbearing actions of the players from the sects enraged the players at the edge and outside the forest.
“Kill them!”
“Kill those bastards!”
Fights broke out in a few regions where the atmosphere was the tensest. The flames of war swiftly spread out, and they even showed signs to get the entire battle line involved.
Happy and his party were also part of it.
When the sect in front of them saw that the sects by their sides had become engaged in a battle against the players and the players they blocked off were also itching to fight, they instantly panicked. They lost their rationality and attacked first without even differentiating what was right or wrong.
It had to be said that the people before Happy and his party were a little unlucky.
Happy, All-powerful Medicinal Stone, and Thunderous Battle stood together while feeling frustrated, because they could not find a suitable reason to break into the depths of the forest. When they saw the enemies take the initiative to attack, there was simply no reason for them not to fight back.
*****
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
“Ah!”
Three fierce gusts of sword aura shot out from All-powerful Medicinal Stone’s hands. The three players who blocked his path were all struck down. One had his thigh hit, another his elbow, and the last his chest. One died, and the other two were injured.
“Roar!”
“Roar!”
The two zombie puppets who had hidden themselves in the crowd tore off the huge cloaks with hoods covering their bodies and charged forward like tigers let out of a cage! With savage expressions, they flew over All-powerful Medicinal Stone’s head, and with a single palm strike each, they struck the chests of two players who wanted to hit All-powerful Medicinal Stone.
“Hiss!”
The two players were taken off guard. Their clothes were torn, and their flesh ripped. They coughed up blood at the same time and retreated.
The two zombies and a human worked together, which instantly threw the players in front of them into chaos.
It was then time for Thunderous Battle and Little North to give their performance.
“Die!”
All-powerful Medicinal Stone, Thunderous Battle, and Little North attacked at the same time while following behind the two zombie puppets. There was not a single sect member in front of them who could last for even two rounds under their attacks. They would either be killed by Little North’s ruthless Ten Thousand Poisonous Palms, or be assassinated by All-powerful Medicinal Stone’s attacks executed behind his strange and agile body movements.
As for Thunderous Battle, he attacked at full force with his Infinite Sword Technique at Grandmaster Realm. No one could fend against his attacks. They would all cough up blood before they were flung away, no longer even able to hold their weapons firmly.
There were all sorts of powerful players from various sects in the depths of the forest, but they were all people who were waiting for Fox Cave to be activated.
When they saw that a fight had erupted in the perimeter and that their normal members were showing signs of losing control of the situation, quite a number of them were sent to take back the initiative.
The ferocious party of three soon attracted quite a number of the powerful players’ gazes!
Happy went with the crowd after the trio who madly pushed forward. He was dressed in his Yellow Dragon set and had his Green Jade Shrouded in Heavenly Silks equipped. A faint presence of Wind Spirit Spin could be found spiralling around him, but none of the powerful players paid any attention to him.

It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.
