Sword Among Us Chapter 167: Hunting Down the Thousand Year Corpse King
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Zombies dressed in gray and coarse coats and who looked evil shot over from the distance. They stopped near Corpse Grave. Then, the timid Little North carefully crawled out from behind a tomb that was not too far away. He stared at the deformed corpse king that stood among the large group of zombies ahead of him.
He could sense a very thick and dangerous presence coming out from it. He gulped while feeling wary and approached Happy with anxiousness and doubt.
"Big Brother Happy…"
"You sure came quick."
"Hehe."
Little North had been very excited when he received Happy's messenger pigeon. But when he saw the situation before him, he suddenly felt a little afraid, and the urge to withdraw rose in him.
"Big Brother Happy, um…" Little North looked nervous. His voice was slightly hoarse when he spoke while staring before them. "Did you ask me to come here… because you maybe, possibly wanted me to help you handle the Thousand Year Corpse King?"
"You know the Thousand Year Corpse King as well?"
Happy's eyebrows shot up, and he cast Little North a glance in slight surprise. Even though the youth belonged to Corpse Sect, the Thousand Year Corpse King was a guard banished from the sect. It did not belong to Corpse Sect. Logically, Little North should have never come into contact with it.
"Ahem, please don't say anything about that." Little North sighed sadly. "Right when my two babies got to Blessed Realm, I came here once. At that time, I ran into the Thousand Year Corpse King. This monster is incredibly powerful, and one of my babies was torn to shreds. Fortunately, my legs were quick."
While speaking, Little North observed Happy's reaction. 'I've poured my thoughts on the battle in a very heartfelt manner. He should get rid of that impractical idea now.'
But against his expectations, Happy only nodded quietly when he heard it. He looked as if this was entirely expected.
"The Thousand Year Corpse King is a powerful fighter in Mystical Realm. Its bones and tendons have been seeped in medicine and corpse poison for years, and it has long since mutated. Its strength will not lose to the powerful fighters in Life and Death Realm. It's only normal that it can tear apart a zombie in Blessed Realm."

Little North was stunned speechless. When he heard the words Life and Death Realm, his expression froze, then turned incredibly sour.
"Should we—"
"I'll handle the Thousand Year Corpse King. You're in charge of helping me handle the zombies around it!" Happy knew what Little North was aiming for, so he explained, "The Thousand Year Corpse King can summon zombies, so while I'm fighting against it, I don't want even the shadow of another zombie enter my field of vision."
"No problem!"
When he heard that he did not need to personally deal with the Thousand Year Corpse King, Little North regained his happiness and agreed to Happy's request.
However, when he turned his head around and saw the dozen or so zombies with extraordinary presences around the Thousand Year Corpse King, the smile on his face quickly fell. He started wallowing in self-pity and great anguish. "When I go back this time, I'll have to make more medicine to repair my two poor babies."
All puppets had a durability rate, and it was very easy for them to be injured. Since zombies were unique puppets, once they were injured, they had to be submerged in the medicinal liquid created specially by Corpse Sect to be repaired.
Every single time after he dealt with a few normal Mystical Realm zombies, Little North needed to repair his precious puppets. It was only minor things, but this time, after the upcoming fight, he would probably need to perform major repairs.
However, in Little North's eyes, he was already lucky. It was still better than being completely destroyed by the Thousand Year Corpse King or Happy.
Little North thought for a moment and commanded one of his fearless zombie puppets to jump toward the entrance of Corpse Grave.
In the eyes of the Mystical Realm zombies, one Blessed Realm zombie in rags and with a weak presence was incredibly lowly and inferior. The few zombies who first noticed it shot it intimidating glares.
Thud! Thud!
The Blessed Realm zombie continued jumping forward as if it did not know the meaning of death. In fact, even the Thousand Year Corpse King looked at it slightly.
"Growl!"
Three zombies seemed to have noticed the Thousand Year Corpse King's displeasure. They growled and left behind afterimages of themselves as they vanished from their spot to pounce on the Blessed Realm zombie.

The offender, however, seemed to have noticed that danger was imminent. Its arms turned one hundred and eighty degrees, and it jumped to flee madly. However, it could not stop the Mystical Realm zombies from approaching it.
Soon, the dozens of feet between them shortened until there was only around a dozen feet between them.
A nauseous aura of the dead came wafting into the nostrils.
The Blessed Realm zombie began to jump even more quickly and anxiously. Even Happy frowned as he watched. He originally thought that Little North could lure all the zombies away, but he did not expect that the zombies would act like professional guards and split their duties. They would leave behind a huge group of people to protect the Thousand Year Corpse King and only send three mooks to form a group to chase away the Blessed Realm zombie.
"Have it stop running. Help me hold them back."
When the Blessed Realm zombie lured the three Mystical Realm zombies to the area near the tombstone where Happy and Little North were, Happy patted Little North's shoulder and leapt out from behind the tombstone. He moved as quickly as lightning and went straight for the zombie at the very back.
When it heard a new sound, the zombie reacted by turning its head around. Its arms moved around like wheels, and it left its group to head for Happy!
"Perfect timing!" he roared!
The saber glare on the Hundred-battle Saber in Happy's hand increased in brightness.
He went up to receive the zombie's attack with his body, then extended his left hand outwards in the shape of a claw. He swung his Hundred-battle Saber downwards. When he completely ignored the fearsome blow directed at his chest, it looked like he had decided to fight against the zombie with his life. Little North, who had been watching behind him, felt as if his heart was about to jump out of his chest.
But was that really the case?
Was Happy truly going to risk his body to fight against a dead person whose body was so strong that it was at the level of a metal?
What a joke!
The moment the two of them clashed head-on, Happy's one single action made the tragic battle that was about to occur change completely.
Dragon Capture!
An astonishing absorption exploded from the center of his palm.
The zombie's black arms instantly fell into Happy's hand. His robes fluttered, and with a yank, he pulled the zombie to his side with minimal force. Because of it, the zombie looked as if it had delivered its neck to Happy's saber by its own volition.
Happy helped himself to the zombie's neck. He lifted the saber and swung it down!
Clang!
The head did not fall.
The neck was as sturdy as metal too. However, the zombie was sent skidding by the powerful slash. Two deep trenches were dug under its feet, and it did not snap out of its daze even after a long time had passed.
Happy followed closely, like a shadow. Moments later, an astonishing glare shot out of his Hundred-battle Saber.
Shing!
With a whistle, a smooth, dazzling, dark-blue, circular saber glare that looked like a plate of blue pearls appeared in the air.
Little North's gaze fixed on the moment when the zombie head flew high into the air. He sucked in a sharp breath, dumbfounded!
Thud!
The zombie stood on the spot for some time before it fell to the ground dejectedly.
Little North stared at the zombie's head that rolled far into the distance. He did not manage to register the situation even after a long time had passed. If it were not because his precious zombie was still jumping around and fleeing, he would have really thought that the zombie that had its head easily cut off was a Blessed Realm puppet that had yet to reach complete maturity.
Happy did not pay any attention to Little North, who had just suffered a huge mental shock. He picked up the spoils of war that spilled over the ground and, without ever stopping, chased after the other zombies that had been brought to run around in circles.
Tap, tap, tap, tap!
Happy moved as if he was treading on clouds. His movements made it seem as if he was flying.
Ting!
A throwing knife bounced off the second zombie's head. The clear sound of metal clashing against something and the slight pain enraged the zombie. Its fleshless and terrifying face instantly turned to Happy!
A foul smell entered his nostrils.

Truck-kun Gets Sacrificed
Driscoll is my own version of a world with a game-like "system" of endless possibilities. MC has his own status, classes, skills, magic, and a living greatswordstaff in a world of monsters, demi-humans of all kinds, and even the supernatural. Sound good? Well, at first for Tru, it was a dream come true(I'm sorry). At least until reality hits him again and again. His quest from God is vague and must be discovered by him along the way. Hopefully, he can figure that out someday but for now, this new world's threats and his potential for power are motivation aplenty. With His new partner by his side, he's ready to embark on his mission of infinite sacrifice, however many lives it takes. The setting is pretty standard for fantasy, with my beginner attempts at writing. Litrpg elements are definitely involved here but It'll calm down as the story progresses and the world's foundation is laid. Judeo/Christian themes and principles take a major role and will be a backbone for much of the story. The fights will paint a picture in the mind rather than just be a bunch of number crunching. While he is meant to be a sacrifice to save all of Driscoll, he needs to gain enough power and influence to be a worthwhile sacrifice, or so he thinks. And so carnage will ensue as he avoids death as best he can while at the same time sacking himself for others. Truck Coon is your average determined, jiu-jitsu practitioner, tax associate that just started his new career. He dies to save kids from a semi-truck(Truck Coon got truck-kun'd, making him Truck-kun) and is transported to another world rather conventionally by God. Upon his arrival, he is quickly confronted with his first conflicts in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. Chapters are currently between 2300 and 4000 words and I try to post weekly, but also deal with severe limitations that cause late posts often. I have zero actual experience with writing stories and only recently started reading web novels in 2020. If you end up hating it, let me know your thoughts in a detailed comment or review, especially if you love it though :D I want to get better and welcome the feedback, so expect changes to be made with any flaws that y'all point out which I don't already have plans to address in future chapters. That being said, keep it constructive in nature, please. I have no Idea how the formatting and such will go, so if you like or dislike some techniques I try, give me that well-appreciated feedback! Thank you for reading.
