Chapter 635: The Last Mighty Enemy
“Die…” Even though Feng Luo took care of two ninjas, the situation on the battlefield was not looking great for the Storm City people.
Ten Mile Tiger had a gray ninja blade sticking out of his chest as he lay on the ground while staring at the sky. A bunch of items, including the core information chip, dropped on the ground beside him.
The good thing was that a ninja was lying right beside him with its neck snapped by Ten Mile Tiger’s bare hands. It was clear that the ninja was also in the Heavy Injury status and was going to die soon.
It was very close to when both of them would perish together.
“Flash!”
Zhao Yun’s body was emitting the white light of death. An expression much like one would have during constipation could be seen on his face.
As a player on the same level as Sword Ki Long River who also had the title of being the “Shell God,” he should have lasted a long time in this battle.
It was unfortunate that they had encountered these agile and high-damage warrior type units. No matter how high his defensive stats were, when faced against these high-attack units whose attacks were higher than the top-class players that also had high attack frequency, he could not last very long.
Apart from that, as a manipulator player, his stamina consumption throughout the journey was quite high and he no longer had much strength to dodge anymore, one of the main reasons for his defeat.
…
“These bastards’ attack power sure is high!” At a third spot on the battlefield, Big Pineapple was a wreck as he continued running to avoid the blades and darts of the Rebel Army ninjas.
Big Pineapple being alive was not all that surprising, as he was now equipped with two Legendary-Grade items.
Although the incredibly heavy shield provided by the Nine-Star Guild was completely useless against the Commander-Grade ninjas’ attacks, he was still equipped with the Legendary-Grade breastplate that he exchanged from the special agent equipment warehouse. It provided him with 5,000 extra HP, and with the effects of potions, his HP had exceeded the high threshold of 30,000.
When it came to defensive strength, with the “Heavy” talent, his physical defense was a few times higher than Ten Mile Tiger, it was natural that he would not die so easily.
However, at the fourth location on the battlefield, Phoenix was still holding off the attacks of a ninja.
Feng Luo was surprised after seeing this because Phoenix’s strength was, undoubtedly, not among the best in their group. One could even say that she was at the bottom. She was still around at the end because of her possession of Jelly, which made the Nine-Star Guild decide to protect her as much as possible.

However, at the moment, the people from the NIne-Star Guild could barely keep themselves alive. With Zhao Yun and Ten Mile Tiger gone, Phoenix was still alive and had more than half of her HP remaining.
However, seeing that Jelly was no longer around, Feng Luo quickly understood the reason.
Although Jelly did not have any attack power, if it did not activate the “cannon” mode and charge forward to protect its master, it was still a tank with more than 20,000 HP.
Apart from that, another reason Phoenix was able to remain alive until that point was also partly thanks to her equipment set.
As top class items designed by Old John, the dynamic armor set had no gaps during combat, and its defense coefficient was amazing.
After the ninja killed Jelly, he had struck Phoenix a few times, but all the attacks were well defended by Phoenix’s armor set, so the damage was never too high.
“Yes, Sword Ki Long River’s combat style, it is like…” When Feng Luo looked over the fifth fight on the battlefield, he could not hide the surprise from his face.
In a battle against a ninja, Sword Ki Long River was in a disadvantageous position.
However, this was not the reason for Feng Luo’s surprise. The reason was that Sword Ki Long River was still holding the suitcase which held the chip equipment with his left hand, and he was fighting with only his right arm holding a weapon. As such, it was not all that weird for him to not be able to maximize his strength.
What surprised Feng Luo was Sword Ki Long River’s one-handed sword combat skills.
The golden Legendary-Grade sword was supposed to be used two-handed but was wielded so smoothly and so elegantly in Sword Ki Long River’s single free hand that it looked as if it was a one-handed sword.
Of course, the number of players who could do this was not all that small in War, so it was not worth Feng Luo’s surprised expression.
Feng Luo was so surprised was because, apart from the amazing one-handed swordsmanship displayed by Sword Ki Long River, his footsteps that continued to shift and move had reminded Feng Luo about something familiar.
“Wushu?”
This action felt familiar to Feng Luo because Sword Ki Long River’s one-handed combat style highly resembled a Chinese martial art sword skill routine that he had seen before on a TV show back in his Earth days.
Of course, those routines were only performances that pursued aestheticism, while Sword Ki Long River’s skill routine was a lot less appealing visually; however, practically speaking, they were a lot better.
Faced against the ninja’s flurry of attacks, he was able to block most attacks with just one hand. He even managed to release a few sharp and precise counterattacks in-between skillsets.

“Bang!”
While thinking, Feng Luo’s hands never stopped moving. He aimed his rifle and fired a bullet at the ninja who had just finished off Zhao Yun and was charging towards Sword Ki Long River, intending to execute a pincer attack.
In truth, while it seemed like Feng Luo had been observing for a long time, Feng Luo processed the information very quickly in his mind with just a glance. As such, no delay would have affected the battle.
…
After half a minute, before dawn broke, the final battle finally ended.
On the ground lay the corpses of the eight ninjas. However, seven of the players had also transformed into white lights.
After the battle, there were only four survivors left including Phoenix, Feng Luo, Big Pineapple, and Sword Ki Long River.
Among the four who took part in the special agent profession change mission, three of them survived.
And among the 250 players from Nine-Star Guild, only one was left. If news of this were to get out, the three of them would gain a rise in fame.
Of course, the data was not accurate, as some of the people were still on the island.
Some of the Nine-Star Guild players that stayed behind during their retreat, the players who dropped off the group during battles, as well as some who chose to retreat individually or by smaller groups after learning that the three players who obtained key items would have their position revealed.
As such, the real number of survivors was more than just the four of them. However, there was no doubt that the mission had suffered a huge loss.
…
After a few minutes, the sun rose into the sky and white mist began to appear above the ocean surface.
“Rumble…”
A black assault boat sped across the ocean surface at maximum speed, leaving white waves in its wake. It was quickly getting closer to the military ship which had just released the extendable ramp.
Facing the boat, about a dozen or so Nine-Star Guild players who stayed back as guards looked at them in delight.
Sword Ki Long River was holding the core device and led the way. Phoenix and Big Pineapple were walking in the middle of the group said with a lamenting tone, “Finally! It is finished!”
One could say that the mission was a lot of hard work. Although it was only one night, the process was grueling and they did not have a single moment to rest.
At that time, the mission was finished. Everyone could finally get on the ship and sleep or go offline to rest.
However, at that moment, while walking at the back of the group, Feng Luo suddenly shouted to the three people in front of him as his expression drastically changed, “Be careful!”
The expression of the others had changed drastically, the Nine-Star Guild players that stayed behind and were still smiling at them.
“Sword God, be careful!”
“Boom!”
However, both shouts were just a tad too late.
The ocean surface around the ship that seemed completely normal suddenly had a water pillar burst into the air. From within emerged a sword-wielding human figure. From behind them, the figure leaped over Phoenix and Big Pineapple and landed directly behind Sword Ki Long River.
Sword Ki Long River’s chest was directly pierced by a gray alloy sword, and with a look of disbelief, the white light of death engulfed his body.
Returning to the human figure, it directly reached out to grab the suitcase holding the core device that was falling into the sea after Sword Ki Long River relaxed his grip as he died.
“Ding!”
However, the human figure did not manage to grab a hold of the suitcase.
Just as his hands reached the suitcase, the suitcase was hit by some object and it bounced back into the air.
Feng Luo threw Ghost Weep and the back of the knife hit the suitcase from the side.
With the bonus provided by the skill, “Throw,” the suitcase carrying the core device was sent flying into the air, brushing past the fingertips of the alloy-sword-wielding human figure before flying towards the military ship.
“Whoosh!”
However, the human figure’s reaction speed was just as fast. He extended his hands to press against the hull of the ship, and then, like a hawk, he flipped his body over and onto the deck.
“Hurry, get up there!” Feng Luo shouted and the three of them also climbed up onto the military ship using the fastest method they knew.
On the military ship, the dozen or so Nine-Star Guild players had brought out their weapons. They stared angrily at the human figure standing on the deck of the ship, an NPC with stone-cold eyes and a knife scar on his face, holding the pet biochip core device with his left hand and a gray golden longsword in his right hand.
A wanted criminal with a bounty of over 10 million credits. The pirate captain of the Rebel Army camp for the mission – Hawkeye.
Even then, as the mission was ending, they still had to fight this one last Boss.

Sorry for slaughtering such a beautiful tradition. This novel starts off slower than most. If the slow-roll isn't your thing, you might want to give this a pass. If it's not for you, I understand. Also, releases may be broken up into smaller chunks. The goal is 5k words, but definitely more than 4k. If you see a short release, be aware that more is probably coming. I'll be honest and say that I'm struggling with each new scene, if only because I want to balance the scope of vision with good pacing. I hope the work I put into it is worthwhile.
