Chapter 445: Reappearance of Dark Phoenix
Chapter 445: Reappearance of Dark Phoenix
“Crash!”
The Tyrant T-100’s three-meter tall muscular body bent after getting kicked by Feng Luo, landing heavily on the metallic floor .
The Tyrant’s gigantic body fell as it could not help but kneel on the ground .
…
This was certainly unexpected .
With the Tyrant T-100’s body strengthened by the T-virus and its insane strength, not to mention a Gunner like Feng Luo who focused on his agility stat, even a Light Armor Warrior who focused on the strength stat and was under the positive effects of skills would find it difficult to send the Tyrant to its knees .
Although the Master Martial Arts skill granted a certain strength bonus in melee combat, the bonus was clearly not enough to create such an effect without the momentum produced by the Charge skill .
There was only one explanation, the light purple helix syringe that Feng Luo just used .
[Evolution Virus (Unnamed . Intermediate) Buffing Potion Type Five . ]
Gains Strength +80, Agility +40, Stamina Recovery per second 4% (Effect duration: One minute .
Cooldown time: 30 minutes) .
The Intermediate Virus buffing potion, an item dropped by the giant octopus from the night before . Feng Luo initially did not plan to use it . It was incredibly difficult to obtain Intermediate buffing potions . Among the three that Feng Luo possessed, two were dropped by the Quasi-boss Octopus while the other one was dropped by the Tyrant the night before when 24K controlled Feng Luo’s body and soloed that Tyrant .
These were potions that were, theoretically, only dropped by infected beings at and above the grade of Quasi-boss (Soloing the Commander Grade monster meant that the quality of the dropped items would also increase) .
Based on Feng Luo’s original plan, he wanted to bring these three potions to Lin in Storm City .
Feng Luo had the Epic Level hidden mission which was to help Lin research the perfect Evolution Virus .

The system did not provide Feng Luo with any clear hints in terms of that mission, but it was clear that any item that would seem helpful to the research of the Evolution Virus would help the mission progress .
Perhaps Lin would be able to use the potions to research and manufacture similar Intermediate buffing potions in the future . This meant an amazing money-making potential . Feng Luo initially wanted to preserve all three potions .
However, he took the initiative and used them just now .
Apart from the strength of the Tyrant T-100, there was also Digital Cat’s warning that came through the Special Agent comms channel just now .
“More than ten Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group elite players are back . They seem to know that something had happened at the base . I’ve already sealed all of the entrances but they are currently forcing their way in . You have, at most, one minute . ”
Many of the Roaring Mercenary Group members had already returned . Either an alarm system was installed at the base or the Earth Manipulator who was killed first had reported the happenings to the commander of the Roaring Dragon Mercenary Group .
The situation was dire, leaving Feng Luo no other choice but to “take drugs . ”
…
The Intermediate Evolution Virus buffing potion’s power was absolute . It could even be considered better than the B-grade rare potions that both Big Pineapple and Phoenix received .
A buffing potion increased 80 points in strength and 40 points in agility . This was three-fourths of the stats after the Force awakened . With the addition of these stat points and the bonus from the rare attributes of the SUV combat boots and the Master Martial Arts skill, even the gigantic Tyrant T-100 had to kneel .
Roar!
However, the Tyrant was still a Level 55 Tyrant T-100 .
Even after losing an arm to Feng Luo and being put to the ground by his kick, the Tyrant did not panic . Instead, it only let out an angry roar . The Tyrant swung its uninjured dark red claw towards Feng Luo’s head .
The Tyrant T-100 was very tall, even as it was kneeling on the ground, the height of its arm was just at the right altitude to strike Feng Luo directly .
Feng Luo had already predicted that the Tyrant T-100 would counterattack in a frenzy before he even swung his foot out . With the skill, Raging Charge activated in advance, Feng Luo immediately retreated .
“Boom!”
The Tyrant T-100’s claw slammed into the metallic wall of the tunnel and left five deep claw marks on the metallic wall . Feng Luo dodged the counterattack, however, the moment he retreated, a red fiery figure charged past him .
“Whoosh!”
A fiery red Rare female-style alloy sword was held by a pair of hands wearing red warrior gloves . With a sharp sound, the sword pierced towards the right eye of the Tyrant .
“Devastating Slash!”
The Light Armor Warrior’s most destructive skill, and it was at the Expert Level .
“Pu!”
“-3766!”
The Tyrant’s right eye was pierced by the red longsword, a damage number nearing 4,000 appeared above its head at the same time .
Whether it was in terms of the timing or the power, they were among the best .
It was always difficult for a Light Armor Warrior to hit the head of a Tyrant . After all, the Tyrant T-100 was way too tall . Now that it was kneeling, the sword pierced deep into the Tyrant’s head, right inside its eye .
The attack came from Phoenix, Dark Phoenix to be precise . She had a cold and black expression, giving off a very different feeling than usual .
When she was almost killed earlier, Phoenix’s passive talent, Dark Personality, was triggered .
Dark Phoenix, who had a far greater combat ability, already took the initiative to attack, even before her HP had recovered to a safe range . With one strike, she dealt a massive blow on the Tyrant and sent it into “Heavy Injury” status .
Roar!
To the Tyrant T-100, Phoenix’s attack inflicted damage much more serious than any of the previous attacks .
Although the damage number was less than Feng Luo’s previous kick, the latest sword attack targeted its eyes .
Roar!
The Tyrant T-100 was completely enraged now . If it were under normal circumstances, the Tyrant, which had human-level intelligence, might have been able to calm down .
With the Tyrant’s recovery ability, even an injured eyeball could be healed . However, the Tyrant was currently in awakened status . Meaning that it had become not much different from normal Tyrants . The enraged and irritable Tyrant did not even consider that fact .
The Tyrant only had one thing in mind . It wanted to stand up, charge at, and completely tear apart the woman in red .
The Tyrant T-100’s uninjured arm went from attacking Feng Luo to swinging towards Phoenix, standing straight up .
Even when faced with the enraged Tyrant T-100 that could easily K . O . Phoenix with its counterattack, Dark Phoenix did not seem to be moved .
She took one step backward and dodged the attack, her hair brushing past the tip of the Tyrant’s claws .
“Pu!”
Her right hand twitched as she retreated as she pulled her blood-drenched alloy longsword out from the eye of the Tyrant T-100, crushing its eyeball in the process .
Roar!
The Tyrant completely lost its right eye, and let out an angry roar . With its remaining left eye, it glared vengefully at Phoenix, who was moving backward .
Immediately after that, the Tyrant T-100’s greenish-gray pupils quickly shrank .
On the murky gray surface of the Tyrant’s pupil, the reflection of a dark red military knife could be seen closing in at high-speed .

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
