Chapter 282: 282
Chapter 282: Black Sandalwood Box
“I’ve never seen this poison before.”
“Even in the Code of Light, it has never been recorded. What does the mysterious person you’re talking about look like?”
Bishop Stevenson frowned deeply. This was related to the Divine Light Dragon, so there could not be any accidents.
“I’ve told you everything I need to say. Now you just need to tell me if the recovery spell can cure the poison.”
Locke already had the answer in his heart, but he still asked with the last glimmer of hope.
“I’m sorry, I’ve never seen this kind of poison. Even if I’m willing to use the recovery spell, the effect of the treatment is basically zero. The recovery spell can only heal the damage to the body. Lady Hathaway’s body is currently very healthy.”
As soon as Bishop Stevenson finished speaking, Locke’s expression changed.
Regardless of whether it could be cured or not, he had to give it a try.
Locke had even taken out the Divine Light Dragon. He was not here to talk nonsense with Stevenson.
“Of course, if you insist, I can help you cast the recovery spell. It’s just that I can’t guarantee the effect.”
Stevenson saw that Locke’s expression changed and hurriedly explained.
Originally, he wanted to say that he would use the recovery spell to heal Morgan and then he would help Locke resolve the conflict with the city lord. Now, it seemed that he was thinking too much.
“In that case, I’m already very grateful!”
When Locke heard this, he quickly stood up, tidied his clothes, and took the initiative to hold Stevenson’s hand.
Stevenson was the first person to be able to make the usually lawless Locke be so polite. It was enough to make him proud.
When Hathaway saw Locke’s appearance, tears flashed through her eyes.
For her, this arrogant man was willing to put down his pride and beg the other party.
Just based on this, even if she died, she would not have any regrets.

“Since you’ve already decided, then let’s begin!”
Stevenson was also a little surprised by Locke’s transformation, but he did not say anything.
There was a time interval between the casting of the recovery spell. The earlier he helped Locke resolve it, the earlier he could recover.
However, Hathaway’s poison was very strange. Only the deepest level of recovery could succeed.
In this way, Morgan would have to wait at least a year before he had a chance to cast the spell again.
However, this had nothing to do with Locke.
“May God bless you, my child.”
Stevenson raised his hand above his head. As his voice fell, a bunch of liquid that flickered with silver light appeared and slowly fell with his palm. Finally, a gentle beam of light seeped into Hathaway’s head.
From the beginning to the end, Locke did not make a sound.
He watched with full attention.
Only when Hathaway stood up did he dare to come over and ask anxiously, “How do you feel?”
“My body seems to have become lighter. My skin is firmer. I don’t feel anything else.”
Hathaway clearly felt that something had appeared in her body, but she could not understand it for a moment. She revealed a rare shy and embarrassed look of a little girl.
“The recovery spell will allow you to recover to your youth. You’ll understand after you study it yourself.”
Stevenson had a smile on his face, but Locke did not care. He just treated it as a kindness from a doctor.
The recovery spell was solved and the Divine Light Dragon was next.
Cloud City was Stevenson’s territory, so he was not afraid that Locke would go back on his word.
The reason why he was willing to sacrifice a part of his life to use the recovery spell in exchange was to be more secure.
After all, the success rate of snatching it by force was not 100% .
Since it was related to the Divine Light Dragon, Stevenson was not willing to take the 1% risk.

“You can also want the Divine Light Dragon but I want to go to your church’s treasury to take a look. I’d like to pick one treasure as exchange.”
Locke checked Hathaway and did not find anything unusual.
The Church of Light was one of the biggest forces in the continent, so their treasury must be extremely rich.
Presumably, it would not be too difficult to find a light-type Battle Beast egg.
Locke would not be at a disadvantage as long as he found a Battle Beast with the light breath.
After all, it was originally used for the Swamp Hydra to devour.
If he used the Divine Light Dragon, he really could not bear to part with it.
“As you wish.”
Stevenson also wanted to know what Locke was up to and personally led the way.
The treasury of the Church of Light was at the bottom of the church. They had to go through an extremely narrow tunnel and three secret doors before they could reach it.
Under the treasury was a huge underground lava lake. Hot lava was rolling and emitting huge bubbles.
From left to right, there were three rows of huge cages.
Some of the cages contained Battle Beast eggs that had not hatched yet, and some were newborn Battle Beasts.
Light Elves, Holy Unicorns, Pegasus, white-toothed light snakes, and so on.
There were not many light-type Battle Beast to begin with. Other than the relatively rare Divine Light Dragon, Raging Flame Lion, and other powerful Battle Beasts, there was everything else here.
To obtain the Divine Light Dragon, Stevenson was very sincere.
Locke used the system’s hidden evolution route to observe and found that most of the Battle Beasts here had the light breath skill.
So, he randomly picked a light-type snake egg that had not hatched yet.
Just as he was about to leave, his gaze was suddenly attracted to a small box in the corner.
The box was carved from ebony. From the marks on the surface, it could be seen that it was very old.
The system did not provide any information on it but Locke’s own instincts were attracted by the box.
“This is?” Locke asked.
“This was found in an ancient secret realm. No one knows how to open it. Through the clairvoyance spell, we can see that there’s a mysterious Battle Beast egg inside. Because we’re not clear about its attributes, it has been placed here for many years.”
Stevenson glanced at it casually. Fortunately, it was not an important item.
Although Locke said that he wanted to choose an item, if he wanted to increase the price at the last minute, Stevenson would not object.
After all, he had already paid such a huge price.
He had even used the recovery spell. Such a small thing was not worth mentioning.
“In that case, I won’t be polite.”
Locke directly picked up the ebony box and placed it in his arms.
To be honest, he did not know what was inside. It was just a spur of the moment idea to tease Stevenson.
After all, even a fool could tell that Stevenson really cared about the Divine Light Dragon.
The last-minute addition was just to tease him.
If there was really something very valuable in the box, Locke did not mind taking it for himself.
After all, the essence of the transaction was mutual consent.
No matter how high the value of the Divine Light Dragon was, as long as Locke agreed to use it in exchange for the restoration spell, then both parties would be on equal standing.
Stevenson had already used the restoration spell, so Locke would not do such a bad thing as reneging on the deal.
After both parties left the underground treasury, Locke summoned the Divine Light Dragon without hesitation and cut off the soul contract which linked himself and the dragon.
