Chapter 268: 268
Chapter 268: No Water Vapor, No Mosquitoes
The Twin-headed Snake had evolved into a Swamp Hydra.
A huge amount of mana had surged into his body, and it had allowed Locke to immediately advance from Stage 3 to Stage 4.
Nevertheless, Locke did not rest.
Level 1, Level 2, Level 3.
He continued to break through, and his mana capacity did not increase as violently as before. At the very least, Locke’s appearance did not make any drastic changes.
To the observers outside, Locke was sitting quietly and guarding against possible dangers.
In truth, however, Locke was fully focused on his internal state.
With the sudden increase in his strength, all his muscles, bones, and tendons had to be adjusted accordingly.
Even his body had grown three inches taller.
The amount of pain caused by the stretching of his skin and tendons was excruciating.
However, Locke did not move at all. Even though the pain he felt was unbearable at times, he had only frowned at most.
By the time the sun had risen, the power in Locke’s body had finally calmed down.
The bonfire had been extinguished as well.
Since they were camping in the wilderness, a large amount of water vapor had formed overnight. The guards who were sleeping on the ground were covered in a thin layer of water vapor.
Their clothes were soaked, and it was sticky and uncomfortable.
However, within a three-meter radius around Locke’s position on the carriage, there was not a trace of water vapor to be found.
The weeds on the ground formed a distinct circle, and there were even many small mosquito corpses at the edges.
The moment the guards spotted the scene, they immediately gained a firm grasp of Locke’s strength.
Their attitude towards Locke had become more respectful.
Locke looked very young, and as such, they did not expect him to be such an amazing Beastmaster.
Not only had no water vapor made it into his dome, no mosquitoes had entered as well.
‘Only a Beastmaster above Stage 3 could do that, right?’

‘Even then, only descendants from big families in the main city could possibly achieve such a feat.’
Locke also felt the change in the guards’ attitude, but he thought little of it.
In the carriage, Hathaway’s breathing had already calmed down.
Although he did not make any physical contact with her, he was certain that Hathaway’s fever had subsided.
He did not know whether it was because of Angela’s help, or the strange mist surrounding them.
Healing magic was not Locke’s forte, and thus, Angela’s help was considered indispensable.
In order to express his gratitude, Locke did not take Hathaway away upon the first sign of daylight. Instead, he waited for Angela to wake up.
It was only when the guards had finished cooking breakfast and knocked on the carriage with steaming hot porridge, that Angela yawned and walked out with sleepy eyes.
There were traces of saliva on the side of her mouth.
“You woke me up this early again?”
“Don’t you know that I’m still developing? Do you know how important it is for us girls to rest and develop?”
Angela looked down at her chest with dissatisfaction. She seemed to blame her lack of endowment on the guards.
“Ma’am, we still have to travel today.”
The guard reminded her in a low voice.
Although the men in black were killed last night, it still was not safe.
Especially since Locke’s method of killing their pursuers was extremely weird.
Although he did not seem like an enemy, they could not tell for certain.
So long as Angela was not in the main city, they could not let their guard down.
The two Stage 3 Beastmasters that had accompanied them had already died. As such, the heavy responsibility of guarding Angela had fallen to the captain of the guards.
If anything were to happen to Angela, he would face a torture worse than death.
“I know, I know. You’re so annoying.”
“You’re even more talkative than an old nanny.”
Angela waved her hand unhappily and stretched her body. Under the morning sunlight, her beautiful curves were exposed.

The guard quickly lowered his head.
This was Angela’s personality.
Although she looked like a lovely young lady, she was actually very rough in private.
Especially right after she woke up.
She was already awake, but her brain was still sleeping within the carriage.
At this time, she did not look like a Holy Maiden at all. Instead, she looked no different from the little girl next door.
It was also at this time that Angela seem to look a little like a woman.
Although she was still a child, Angela had already matured quite well.
Although she was still a little lacking to Hathaway in certain aspects, the kind of pure and lustful girl was often more fatal to men.
The guards dared not look directly at Angela, as they were worried that they would desecrate the dignity of the Holy Maiden.
Locke was not so polite, however.
‘I better get my day’s worth of peeping.’
After making him wait for all morning, it was only right that he was offered compensation.
Ah!!
A scream broke the silence of the morning. The birds sleeping in the forest were startled awake, and they immediately flapped their wings and flew away.
Angela had just remembered Locke. She turned her head and found that the other party was staring at her with great interest.
She subconsciously covered her chest and screamed.
In truth, however, she was rather happy.
‘So what if Hathaway’s figure was impressive? I’ve managed to attract his gaze as well, didn’t I?’
Upon this thought, Angela let go of her hands and puffed out her chest.
Like a proud peacock, she took a few steps forward to demonstrate her beauty.
In order to perfectly show off her figure, she deliberately went against the wind and wrapped her loose pajamas around her body.
“Thank you for taking care of Hathaway.”
“We’ll be leaving after taking breakfast.”
Locke smiled indifferently.
Angela was very beautiful, but for someone like Locke who had already witnessed many great beauties, he was immune to her advances.
He was willing to tease her, but he would not fall for her.
Hathaway had a deep affection for him, and now that she had been poisoned, he needed to rush to Cloud City to treat her.
Otherwise, should any after-effects linger due to his delay, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
Had they met each other at another time and place, Locke might have gone for her.
However, the circumstances had no permitted him to do so.
“There’s no need to rush. I don’t have anything important to do.”
“Also, I know some healing techniques. I can help you take care of her.”
Angela was a little flustered.
The two had just met, but she did not want him to leave just like that.
“No need, I should be able to reach cloud city in another day’s time.”
“If there’s a place in this world that can cure her poison, it’s definitely Cloud City.”
Locke rejected without any hesitation, but he did not notice Angela’s eyes lighting up.
“So you’re going to Cloud City?”
Angela was about to mention that she was the Holy Maiden of the Illumination Society in Cloud City, when suddenly, she remembered that she had failed to cure Hathaway’s poison.
‘If I were to reveal my identity now, would that make him change his mind in heading to Cloud City?’
‘It’s better that I tag along with him, and once we arrive at Cloud City, I’ll ask the bishop to personally act.
The bishop was a Stage 5 Beastmaster. There was no poison in this world that the bishop was unable to cure.
Thus, Angela held her tongue.
In any case, everyone was heading in the same direction.
Should the situation arise, she would willingly allow Hathaway to stay in the carriage, whilst she would take the horse and chat with Locke along the way.
‘I’m a genius!’
Angela clapped her hands happily and commended herself.
