Chapter 111: Probing And Attacking
The butler, Löw handed a red letter to Locke.
After opening it, there was only one sentence: leave the Holy City in the next two days, or else, your next sleep will take place in the underworld…
Contained within the letter was a Daemon’s fang.
While looking at the sharp fang, Locke asked, “This fang looks pretty neat. I wonder, can we make it into a pendant…”
“Mr. Locke, this is no time to joke around! This is a death threat from the Daemon Fang Army!” Löw was sweating profusely.
‘Daemon Fang Army? What’s that?’
Locke’s serious expression had told Löw that he was not joking. As such, Löw immediately explained, “The Daemon Fang Army is a notorious Beastmaster mercenary army! They’ll take on any dirty you provide them! And they’re extremely powerful…”
Locke was even more confused. After taking a sip of his black tea, he asked, “Oh, so it’s like an assassin organization. But what does this have to do with Freddy?”
“It’s Frank… The boss of this mercenary group is Joey! He just doesn’t admit it, and the court has already been bribed by him, so no one has ever questioned this matter!”
‘No wonder Adelaide was arguing with those people over the phone earlier. So they’ve been bribed, huh.’
“The Holy City is the center of my master’s business. He absolutely can not leave…”
Adelaide also chimed in, “Mr. Locke, my life is in your hands. The Daemon Fang Army will definitely come for me in the next two days. Their methods are very cruel, and even my servants will not be spared…”
Naturally, Locke had taken this matter rather seriously! After all, he was hired to be Adelaide’s protector, and he had the System’s quest to incentivize him even further!

“Alright! I’ll be staying here for the next two days. Don’t worry! Oh right, you’re a great merchant. Go to the city and find some Beastmasters to help you. You can recruit them as gatekeepers!”
“Sigh… That’s impossible. Just hearing the Daemon Fang Army’s name is enough to strike fear to the people’s hearts. We’ve already tried to recruit some Beastmasters before we contacted you. However, no one was willing to come! There are several reasons, but it’s mainly because they fear both the Frank family and the Daemon Fang Army’s power. After all, they are all devils who kill without batting an eyelid!” Löw helped his master up.
However, now that Locke had promised to stay over to protect him, Adelaide’s expression had become slightly better.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Locke. The family’s chefs are all here! You can eat whatever you want! I will prepare the best servants and the best room for you. Please help me get through this crisis!”
Locke did not hear the last part. All he heard was the good food.
“Good! I’m hungry!’ Locke responded, while patting his belly.
…
During the night, Locke ordered Lil’ White to patrol the vicinity of the manor while he continued to study Beast Fusion. After all, the upcoming battles were great opportunities to test out the power of fusion beasts.
Around 11 o’clock that night, Lil’ White suddenly sent Locke a telepathic alert!
“South…” After confirming the location, Locke immediately leapt out of the window and had Gale Wings carry him to his destination!
There were quite a number of mercenaries who had invaded the manor, and they numbered around 15. However, Locke was a little disappointed by their strength. Although the Battle Beasts before him had come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, most of them were at the blue elite rank.

“A kid? Who are you, and where is Adelaide hiding at?! I’ll make sure you die a quick death once you’ve answered me!” The person standing at the front seemed to be the group’s leader.
Disappointed by his weak opponents, Locke dug his ears and said, “He’s in the living room, trying to drink his worries away…”
“Kill him…” The leader did not waste any time. After ordering his men, he then walked towards the living room.
“AH!!”
His subordinates suddenly screamed in pain!
“What’s going on?” The leader turned around and noticed that Locke had disappeared from where he last stood. Moreover, all of his subordinates’ eyes were filled with terror!
After all, one of their companions had vanished right before their very eyes!
“Kid! You better not provoke us. Get out of the way!”
Based on their expressions, Locke knew that there was no need to bring out his Beast Fusion.
“I’m the one who he invited to drink with, not you guys!” As soon as Locke’s voice fell, a hissing sound came from the darkness!
“Light up this area!” The leader ordered one of his subordinates.
“Lightbulb Bear!” The Battle Beast under his command was a fat brown bear. Interestingly, the Battle Beast’s tummy shone rather brilliantly!
They had located their companion who had disappeared earlier.
A two-headed snake had already strangled him to death!
“Pfft… Lightbulb Bear, as expected of people who do dirty work. The lighting on the battlefield is important after all, especially since you people usually operate in the dark. But still this name is really comical, hahaha…” Locke covered his mouth and reminded himself that he was fighting a “serious” battle.
Humiliated by Locke’s words, the owner of the bear said with a reddened face, “What can I do! This is the name given by the detector when the hatching was successful, and this is the only name it responds to! It’s very useful on the battlefield! What’s so funny?”
“Why are you explaining it to him so clearly? We’re going to break into the manor! Kill him!” The leader slapped the back of his subordinate’s head!
Instantly, more than a dozen Battle Beasts pounced on Locke!
They roared at the top of their lungs, and bared their sharp fangs and claws!
However, Locke was still covering his mouth as he thought of the funny name just now. He telepathically ordered, “Lil’ White, take care of them…”
Lil’ White’s Light and Dark Spatial Slash instantly froze all of its opponents!
As Locke had no interest in admiring ice sculptures, Locke transformed Infinite Fire Element into a flaming hammer and held it in his right hand.
“Bang…”
Countless pieces of ice fell to the ground and immediately turned into puddles of water. It was as if the scuffle had never even taken place.
“Sigh, this Daemon Fang isn’t all that good either. It’s really boring. Lil’ White, continue keeping watch. I’m going to drink some wine…” Locke turned around and walked towards the villa.
However, Locke did not seem to notice a presence on a tree nearby. Something that was invisible to the naked eye had observed the fight from start to finish!
“Captain, you were right. There really is a powerful Beastmaster here…”
“Mm, the probing is over… Come back. Master Joey just told me that we can deal with Adelaide tomorrow!”
“Understood…” Once the call ended, the transparent “thing” vanished from the nearby tree…

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
