Chapter 80: Like Oil And Water

“The first duel shall now… Begin!” Accompanied by the cheers of the audience, the judge announced the start of the first duel!

The two brothers locked gazes, and a pair of pistols appeared in their hands!

The two pistols in the hands of the elder brother, Mars, glowed with a silvery-blue light.

Locke could not see the level of Mars’ Battle Beast.

All he could tell was that it was an Equipment Battle Beast.

On the other hand, John’s pistols were outlined with red and silver stripes.

“Instructor, their pistols are pretty unique!”

Locke did not shy away from asking questions, especially when it came to things he did not understand.

Tristan explained, “Both brothers’ Battle Beasts possess two elements! The elder brother, Mars, owns a special and water-type Battle Beast, whereas John owns a steel and fire-type Battle Beast.”

“Huh? There’s such a thing?” Despite Locke’s extensive reading in the academy, it was the first time Locke had ever heard of such Battle Beasts.

After shrugging his shoulders, Trista continued, “Yes! They are a rather rare existence. Although I can’t speak for other locations, the two brothers are the only ones who possess such beasts in the Holy City…”

‘In that case, wouldn’t it be like owning two Battle Beasts at the same time?'[1]

“How convenient, but their offensive prowess remains to be seen…” Locke’s interest was immediately piqued.

John was the first to strike!

The bullets fired from the barrel of his pistol glowed with a faint red light.

However, Mars had anticipated his brother’s attack. He dodged to the right and fired two shots at him!

John did not dodge. Instead, he fired two shots in Mars’ direction!

The four bullets collided in the air, and they produced a metallic spark!

The audience was completely mesmerized with the brothers’ battle.

Just then, the two brothers began to move, and they were now engaged in a mobile battle!

After dodging the first strike, John launched a side kick and pushed the humanoid away!

“Don’t worry! There’s more where that came from!” Mars did not slow down at all, and he fired another wave of gunshots at John.

In response, John used his superior speed to dodge the bullets!

However, the gun shells that dropped on the ground had turned into humanoids!

A mere instant later, John was surrounded by dozens of strong-looking water humanoids!

Bang!

Although they were composed of water, the attack power of the humanoids were rather terrifying!

With just one strike, one of the humanoids had shattered the thick and heavy tiles of the platform!

“How many years has it been… You’re still relying on the same old moves? You really haven’t improved at all!” After using bullets to disperse the two water humanoids, John mocked his brother.

“As long as you’re strong enough, all you need is one move!” With just a thought from Mars, the humanoids began to merge with one another!

Once merged, the enhanced humanoids then pounced on John!

John no longer hid his strength. After a moment of silent chanting, the red stripes on his pistol began to detach!

The stripes began to burn visibly!

In less than two seconds, they formed a few rings of fire that flew out and collided with the humanoids!

“Your new move isn’t all that impressive!” Mars shouted while firing his pistols non-stop!

The brothers’ clash was also also a clash of elements!

The exchange of flame and water was representative of their oil-and-water nature!

It was a beautiful scene!

Suddenly, Mars’ humanoids changed shape once more!

Countless water droplets gathered in the air and formed a lance-wielding knight that charged towards John!

‘John only has a limited amount of fire elementals!’

John hurriedly called back his fire rings. He commanded them to surround his body to intercept the knight’s attack!

Boom!!

A violent collision could be heard, and the water knight was dispersed! However, John was sent flying!

Bam!

John hurtled nearly a dozen meters backward. The power of Mars’ move was so great that when John landed, he had created a crater!

“Hahahaha! This is the true power of my knight!” In just a single move, Mars had broken their stalemate!

However, Mars did not let down on the offense. Instead, he commanded several more water humanoids to attack his brother!

“Oh no! Is Instructor John that weak?”

“Can someone stop the match?”

“As expected, the older brother is stronger than the younger one!”

A few Diamond Class students began to panic.

Jacques did not blame the students for their ignorance. They had never seen John in battle before, after all. In response to the situation, Jacques lit up a cigarette and flashed a bright smile.

Just as a fist from a water humanoid was about to strike John…

John’s pistols glowed a brilliant crimson!

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

Following three loud shots, the water humanoids that were close to John dispersed and quickly evaporated!

By the time John had regained his footing, there was a noticeable change to his appearance!

His body was covered in fiery red armor!

His hands had been replaced by two cannon muzzles, and his fiery armor was burning fiercely!

“Wow! So cool! This must be the skill, Fiery Gunner!” A Beastmaster in the audience gasped in envy!

Mars frowned and said, “So this is your new move. To be honest, it looks pretty good…”

John walked towards Mars with heavy steps and said, “I developed it just do deal with you! I obtained this skill once my Battle Beast evolved!”

“You think too highly of yourself! You seem to have misunderstood what I meant just now! I only said that it looks good!”

Mars’ face was full of anger. He suddenly recalled the twenty-year-long grudge with the opponent before him!

The remaining water droplets on the field resonated with their master’s anger!

They began to merge with each other, and transformed into countless weapon-wielding soldiers!

Despite the number of water soldiers before him, John was unfazed. John focused his gaze and gathered strength in his feet. Then, in an explosive burst, John charged towards Mars!

He smashed through the water soldiers in his way with his flaming armor!

A trail of steam was produced in his wake!

Mars could not dodge in time. He was hit squarely in the chest by John, and he was flung away!

He crashed heavily on the ground!

A cloud of dust was raised!

If not for the water soldiers’ desperate attempt to block John’s charge, Mars would have been killed by the attack!

Realizing that the armor around his brother was probably heavy, Mars wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and utilized his agility to launch attacks at John!

At this point, the duel had become a battle between a heavily-armored flame warrior and an army of weak water humanoids!
