Chapter 33: Immortal Dragon God’s Body
Locke listened to the old man’s advice seriously.
He looked forward to his future even more.
He did not expect that not only could Beastmasters rely on the augmentation skills of their Battle Beasts, they could also cultivate their bodies.
Moreover, when Locke thought about how only 5-star silver-tier Beastmasters possessed the necessary mana to cultivate, he immediately became excited.
After all, Locke’s mana levels could not be compared to others. Even if though he was only a 1-star silver-tier Beastmaster, he could probably start using cultivation techniques.
He was undoubtedly a step ahead of everyone else when it came to increasing his rankings.
Locke continued to ask, “Other than the university, what other methods are there to obtain cultivation techniques?”
The old man thought about it carefully.
“The only other method would be to obtain it from the black market then. There are many powerful cultivation methods on the black market, and as a result, they’re also much more expensive than the ones you can obtain from school.”
After listening to the old man’s words.
Locke fell into deep thought.
Soon after, Locke had snapped out of his long train of thoughts.
He bowed deeply to the old man and said,
“Thank you for your guidance today, sir. I will definitely pay you a visit some other day to express my gratitude. I will take my leave for now.”
After saying that, Locke made himself scarce.
As the old man watched Locke’s figure recede, a thought-provoking smile appeared on his lips.
As for the reason for why Locke was in such a hurry to leave…
What else would it be for except to check out how much powerful cultivation techniques cost?
After all, there was still some time before the Federation’s university entrance assessments.

He did not want to waste this period of time, so he quickly ran back home.
Locke quickly entered the black market’s website and searched for Beastmaster cultivation techniques.
Soon, a large number of listings appeared on Locke’s phone screen.
Various cultivation techniques were listed before his eyes.
Locke was shocked by the number of techniques listed.
He did not expect Beastmasters to own that many cultivation techniques.
While looking through the large volumes of cultivation techniques, Locke felt a migraine creep up on him.
This was because there were too many of these cultivation techniques, and they were all very complicated.
Moreover, Locke was still a beginner. He had no idea which of the techniques were powerful.
At this point…
Locke’s heart was filled with disappointment.
However, this disappointment did not last long.
Locke suddenly jumped up from his bed.
He shouted, “That’s right, I have the Beastmaster System. All the information about Beastmasters should be in there, right?”
Locke suddenly became excited.
He said to the System, “Scan these cultivation techniques and pick out the most promising and powerful ones.”
Soon, a name appeared on the System’s Interface.
“Body Tempering.”
You read that right, the cultivation technique’s name had only consisted of two words.
Locke looked at the answer the System had given him.
A hint of disappointment appeared on his face.
Looking at these two words, Locke felt that the technique was very weak.
However, the contents that the System listed later had made his jaw drop.
[ Body Tempering is currently the most suitable technique for the host to cultivate. A powerful Beastmaster does not just need a huge amount of mana or powerful Battle Beasts, they also need a strong body that can withstand the repercussions from possessing a huge source of mana. ]

[ Only when the host’s physical body is strong enough would you then be able to wield a huge amount of mana. ]
Even though Locke had a large amount of mana, his physical body was very weak. If he were to ever overexert himself, he would face the risk of exploding.
Moreover, cultivating a strong body was also the foundation of cultivating a large amount of mana.
After reading the System’s explanation, Locke realized how important his physical fitness was.
There was another paragraph underneath the initial explanation.
[ Cultivation Technique Level: Yellow Tier, Rank 8 ]
[ Cultivation method strength: 9.00 ]
[ Hidden Evolution Path ]
[ Body Tempering is a part of the Immortal Dragon God’s Body technique. Conditions for Body Tempering’s evolution: Crystal Core x1, Silver-tier Dragon’s Essence x1 , 100 Function Points. ]
Upon reading the System’s requirements, Locke mentally cursed at the system.
‘A silver-tier Crystal Ore and a Dragon’s Essence! Are you kidding me? Why don’t you tell me to rob a bank while you’re at it!’
The following content made Locke take back his words.
“Immortal Dragon God’s Body, the most powerful body cultivation technique in the world. When cultivated to the extreme, the body can become immortal and indestructible.”
“Almost no power can destroy it.”
Although the System’s introduction was very short, Locke had already felt the power of the Immortal Dragon God’s Body from the those few words.
Locke quickly looked up Body Tempering.
Very quickly, the information of the merchants that sold it was displayed.
It seemed that the Body Tempering technique was really popular, as there were many merchants selling it.
Moreover the price was relatively inexpensive, at only around 100 thousand federal coins.
It was a good price, and in truth, the reason it was so cheap was due to how ordinary the cultivation technique was.
Following that, Locke searched for the materials that were needed to evolve the Body Tempering technique.
However, upon looking at the price tags, Locke immediately lost his interest in cultivation.
It was too expensive.
Silver-tier Dragon Crystal Ores were sold for 180 million, whereas Silver-tier Dragon’s Essences were priced even more exorbitantly, at the cost of 210 million coins.
And Locke had only earned around 100 million coins from auctioning his Beast Eggs.
It was not enough to purchase the two upgrade materials.
Locke instantly became distressed.
‘How can I earn that much money?’
This was undoubtedly a very thorny problem.
Currently, Locke did not have much ways to earn money. Although Beastmasters were a profitable profession, it was still somewhat difficult to earn a hundred million, two hundred million, or even three hundred million coins in a short period of time.
Suddenly, Locke thought of the Beast Eggs that he had previously posted on the black market.
There was finally a ray of hope.

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.
