Chapter 100
RMSBS – Episode 99 . Configuration Demolition (1)
There were several bodies on the floor . They were from the Alpha Class parties of the Hebrion Academy . The Clothes Lines that boast such strong defense were torn and blood leaked from lacerations that covered their entire bodies .
But these weren’t fatal wounds . The wounds themselves were not that deep .
*Splash*
The reason they had died from such shallow wounds was from the poison that the Tyrant-Tula injected into their bodies .
The poison of the Tyrant-Tula, which was definitely classed as belonging to a monster of the highest level, was powerful enough to paralyze and melt the inside of the body on contact .
Due to the power of such a poison, they were immediately eliminated and marked to return to reality…
However, something had gone wrong .
*Splash*
The noise easily echoed throughout the desiccated passageway .
One of the bodies rolled over . Black legs sharp as blades ripped into it as the beast ravenously devoured it .
*Splash* *Splash* *Splash*
There was a loud sound of filthy water spilling onto the ground .
This process was repeated several times . Each body was meticulously wrapped into a spider web . The figures of each quickly disappeared as they were sealed within the spider’s silk . Before long, the bodies that once littered the hallway were securely stowed within their new silk cocoons .
The silk that was once visible started to turn transparent and before long the grisly scene was no longer visible . The sharp, knife-like legs were also concealed in spider silk and became transparent .
The blood and bodies that were strewn everywhere had disappeared, as if they had never existed . There was only an empty passage leading into the distance .
Not too long after, the presence of people could be detected and the passage that was completely silent up until then was filled with the echoes of a voice .
“The reason why Tyrant-Tula is dangerous is due to the poison on the edge of its legs . There is also a special gimmick related to its spider silk . ”
The source of the noise was none other than Desir’s party .
Desir moved forward carefully . The filthy water on the ground splattered everywhere as the party traipsed through it .
“Tyrant-Tula’s web has the effect of making anything that it wraps transparent . ”
Most people knew this but Desir explained it for the sake of anyone who didn’t .
*Tap*
Desir stopped .
[Create Water]
Water droplets were suspended mysteriously in the air .
“Yes . It’s literally invisible . Tyrant-Tula has transparent webs everywhere like this and wraps itself in them . That’s why nothing is visible . To unknowing prey, there’s nothing in this passage . ”
Given how empty it was, believing such a monster existed in the passageway they were currently standing in was rather difficult .
“If we go fast and get caught in a spider web, we will get attacked by an invisible enemy . This is why people avoid Tyrant-Tula’s nest . ”
“What do we have to do then? Is there something special? ”
Freechel asked with curiosity after Desir’s explanation .
Desir nodded .
“The principle of the spider’s webs in this passage is simple: Tyrant-Tula uses the webs to sense and attack its prey . So, how should we overcome this?”
“Well… don’t touch the web at all?”
“That’s impossible . ”
Desir pointed at the passage extending straight ahead .
“You can’t see them, but from this point on, there are countless spider webs . As soon as you touch any of the webs, Tyrant-Tula will come running . It’s incredibly fast and invisible . You have no chance of coping . What can we do?”
After no one could offer a suggestion, Adjest opened her mouth .
“What about sabotaging the spider’s perception? Since we have to touch the web, we need to make it so we can break through without being detected . ”
Desir clapped .
“That is the correct answer . Tyrant-Tula’s perception is restricted to the spider’s web . In other words, if we irritate several spider webs at the same time, its perception will be confused . That’s the opportunity that we have to aim for . ”
Its limited perception was Tyrant-Tula’s only exploitable weakness .
“Hit the web with magic and shake Tyrant-Tula’s perception . Of course, we can’t just invoke random magic . ”
Desir opened his palms .
“To induce a stimulus strong enough that masks other human movement at the same time, we must hit at least five magic spells of at least the Second-Circle at the same time . This will give Tyrant-Tula no chance to recognize us . ”
“Let me take that role, Desir . ”
Adjest hurriedly suggested .
“It’s possible for me to arrange more than five spells at the same time at my level . ”
“You can arrange five spells but the problem is landing them at the right time . That kind of accurate magical arrangement is something only I can do . ”
No mistakes were allowed . At the same time, the magic had to hit a thin spider web .
“I’ll distract Tyrant-Tula from a little bit further away . You break though in that chance . Once you do, I’ll be right behind you . ”
“Is this a guaranteed method for success?”
“… Of course . ”
In the strange gap between the question and answer, Romantica frowned .
“Are you sure?”
“I’m serious . I’m sure of this . ”
Eventually, Romantica sighed and allowed the plan .
After getting everyone’s consent, Desir began preparation for his part in the plan .
“Even though Tyrant-Tula’s perception via its spider’s web can be avoided, be careful not to get stuck in its webs . They still have great adhesive force, so proceed with caution . ”
“I know that much . ”
“Good . ”
They got ready to run after exchanging a few more pieces of advice with each other .
“One… Two… ”
Five spells were formed in front of Desir .
“Three . ”
As soon as Desir invoked the spells, all party members except Desir began to run .
Pram swung his sword forward, cleaving open a webless path for the party to traverse .
Desir watched them escape quickly .
After that, the magic arrangements in front of him stopped and faded away .
‘Did it work?'
Desir checked that all of them had escaped and sighed in relief .
‘They would never allow me to do this if I told them the truth . ’
It was true that Tyrant-Tula’s weakness was disrupting its perception, but the way Tyrant-Tula perceived its prey was very different to what Desir had explained .
Desir had to deceive his party again since the actual method did guarantee the safe escape of the bait .
‘The real way it perceives people is… ’
Desir reached his hands forward and felt something on his fingertips . He caught the web .
Entangling it, he brought it to his heart .
‘Bio signal . And amongst them, it responds the most to heartbeats . ’
Tyrant-Tula’s favorite food was ‘live prey’ . Inevitably, it responded the greatest to bioreactions .
Desir stopped breathing and began to concentrate .
‘Recognizing changes in environment:’
‘Detect the slightest changes amongst this absolute silence . Nothing seems to have changed on the surface . ’
Silence .
*Tap*
After a moment or two, dust and debris began to fall off the walls .
Desir smiled .
“How many monsters do you think I’ve killed? Hundreds? Thousands?”
*Frack*
Tyrant-Tula appeared out of nowhere and ripped through the air, aiming to skewer Desir through the back with its leg .
Although there was the expectation that it could only make a small wound to the Clothes Line of a single ranker, it was still incredibly dangerous due to its terrible poison, able to kill its opponent with just the slightest cut from its leg .
So far, no student had ever been able to attack it, since it was able to appear out of nowhere .
At least so far .
However, Desir naturally reached towards his back as if expecting such an attack .
And with the spell that formed behind him –
***
When Desir opened the gate, his eyes and ears were immediately assaulted by Romantica’s loud displeasure .
“What took you so long, Desir?!”
Desir smiled and replied .
“Ah, I made a mistake and failed to disrupt its perception . Fortunately, I ran as well . ”
“You idiot!”
“Well, what’s our ranking anyway?”
“Yes, our ranking!”
Everyone in the party turned on their communication pads and checked the leaderboard .
The leaderboard on the communication pad was as follows:
—
1st: Unknown Party . Leader: Desir Arman
Progression Points 2350, Party Points 1900
2nd: Blue Moon Party . Leader: Argeria G Roglan Nimbias
Progress Points 2320, Party Points 1850
3rd: Red Dragon Party . Leader: Radoria von Dorice
Progression Points 2200, Party Points 1700
—
The party looked at each other in a mixture of surprise and joy .
“OH-YEAH!”
They had succeeded in taking first place .
They had surpassed the Blue Moon party .
“Let’s continue on with this momentum and clear it all at once . ”
“I agree!”
“I will do my best . ”
“Well, you should . ”
While everyone merrily continued down the passage, Desir noticed a scratch on his finger .
‘Hm… It may be from the debris . ’
‘It’s pretty painful for a simulated 30 percent pain limit… am I just imagining things?’
Desir kept his thoughts to himself . He couldn’t give them anything else to worry about . Desir entered the fifth zone while rubbing his bloody finger on his lapel .

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

This is my first time writing a story, i dont know if you guys will receive it well or not. I started to read LN from NU and RL, and it enchanted me. But unfortunately the author and translator are humans too so they couldnt keep up with my reading rate. From what i had read, i started to imagine what if the world like this, or what if this character had an ability like this or what if the decision the character made was different than the stories. All of that keep coming up as i read, and then a few weeks ago i started to write what i imagine into a new story. Through writing the story i learnt that making a story isnt as easy as imagine. I must think of name, plot, character personalities, the environment, etc. Then one day i decided, fuck it lets post it first and see how it is going to be. To tell you the truth i like chinese martial arts story better but i cant make chinese name since i dont know the language. I learnt from the internet that creating a random name in Chinese is dangerous so i make this story to be Japanese like western story. But i still want to add martial arts and cultivation element to it. I will write what my imagine is like, something will be changed along the way thats for sure but i hope you guys will understand it. Each chapter will at least have 1500 words but i am not so good at english so correct me if there is something wrong with my grammar. I post this so that i can share what i imagine. One last thing, i like OP Main Character and although i dont hate training plot but i dont like weak main character. I hope you like what i write, any critics and suggestion is welcomed so write it on comment section so we can discuss it with the others. Warning For you guys that dont like OP Main Character, bad language, violence, and maybe in the future there will be NSFW content, dont read it For those who seek perfection, you wont find it here Strategy, Business Management, Trickery not my forte so dont seek it here but i will try to make it if possible Character skills will randomly appear as i tried to think what op skill i want for my character so bear with it Plot will be good, well i hope so if not then bear with it
