Chapter 337: 337
Chapter 337 White Flame
Abel learned something by being with Black Wind and White Cloud for so long . If you commit yourself to bonding with your mounts, they would most likely do the same to you . And not just that . On a practical level, Abel’s the one who’s been sharing the soul potions with Black Wind and White Cloud this entire time . He was literally their go-to for boosting their intelligence and strength .
By calling with his soul chain, Abel told White Cloud to make a landing beside the two-foot dragon . While the two-foot dragon was nervous to see a sky sparrow this big, Abel kept on telling it to calm down . Eventually, it started seeing White Cloud as its friend, as a fellow member of the same team .
It’s good to see that a two-foot dragon would befriend a creature that’s not the same species as itself . Because of how quickly it assimilated into the team, Abel decided to give it a soul potion as its reward .
The two foot-dragon kept staring as Abel took out the purple soul potion . It really wanted it . Since the soul potion was the filtered essence of countless hell creatures’ souls, even without explicitly knowing what it was, it knew that its body wanted it .
Thirty seconds . After Abel poured the potion into the two-foot dragon’s mouth, it only took thirty seconds for it to travel through its body . Nothing changed much, though . Its scales just got a little darker . Maybe that just showed how strong a pseudo-dragon was . You’d need a lot of resources to strengthen a creature that was already this powerful .
Still, one bottle was all it took for the two-foot dragon to undergo decades of aging . To show how good that felt, it started breathing out like, then roared in a cheerful manner . The sound pierced through Lilay Valley first . Then, it echoed through the Double Moon Forest towards where team Lawland was .
White Cloud was a little disgruntled by that . On the other hand, all the hair on Black Wind’s body was starting to stand up . It looked really surprised by that roar .

When the two-foot dragon saw this, it decided to stop roaring . It wasn’t trying to scare for its fellow team members . It probably just stopped because it felt pretty relieved already . In fact, since it was a dragon, it didn’t really feel the need to communicate with Black Wind and White Cloud, even though it had already acknowledged their existence .
Right team, team Lawland was waiting anxiously in the Double Moon Forest . Abel had gone by himself, and that made the team members feel very useless . Instead of playing around, as usual, they started to practice their elemental spells . Carrie was glad to see this, but as of now, she was more worried about Abel’s wellbeing .
And suddenly, a dragon’s roar came from their front . It’s the direction that Abel went . Carrie was really getting worried . She turned to look over towards her dire wolf, who was already crouching on the ground .
Despite the painful look on their faces, the four eleven ladies were prepared this time . They were not immobilized by this dragon’s roar . They had gone far enough already, so the imposing pressure coming over to them was not as strong as last time .
When the dragon stopped roaring, Carrie jumped on her dire wolf . She was ready to ride it towards the direction that Abel went . Jenny got in the way, though .
“Move, Jenny!” Carrie called out anxiously, “I should’ve not let Bennett go in the first place! It’s my responsibility to do the scouting! I have to go get him back!”
Jenny was a lot calmer in comparison, “You can’t go, Captain . You know how fast Bennett’s mount wolf is . The only thing we can do is wait . If you want to go get him, you must wait for a day first . After a day, we’ll go look for him together . ”
Lady Muriel got in front of the dire wolf as well, “We’re just as worried as you, Captain! If Bennett doesn’t come back in a day, we’ll all go find him together!”
Carrie suddenly held her head with regret, “I should’ve known this already . The spiritual beasts went away because of the pseudo-dragon!”

From that first dragon’s roar, Carrie started doubting if that pseudo-dragon was just passing by this area . She wasn’t certain about that, though . Now that the second roar was coming in from the same direction, she knew that it was staying in the same place . It was the reason that the elemental spiritual beasts were chased out .
Lady Muriel said as she clenched her fist, “Have some faith, Captain! Bennett is a powerful fighter . Don’t we all know that?”
Carrie frowned and said helplessly, “One day, then . If he’s not coming back, I’m definitely going to find him!”
By this point, Carrie’s already regretted having commenced this quest . Since the team members were all women, they became greedy when they heard that Abel was a master alchemist . It was the same for her . She wanted him to craft the “beauty potion” so she could look prettier .
But with so many accidents happening so far, she should’ve canceled the quest when they encountered that spiritual beast a few days ago . She should’ve told the team to go back to report to the elves, not continuing the pursuit for eternal beauty . The more she thought about it, the more she began to drown herself in regret .
Meanwhile, Abel and the two-foot dragon were having a great time together .
“Let’s give you a name!” Abel said as he scratched the two-footed dragon by its chin . The two-foot dragon didn’t understand, though . With the current intelligence that it possessed, even Black Wind was smarter in comparison .
“What ability do you have?” Abel asked once he connected to the two-foot dragon’s power of the Will .
After hearing that, the two-foot dragon started to open its mouth . Abel could see a powerful fire element that was forming inside . When the fire element became big enough, the two-foot dragon spat it towards a rock that was the size of a human . The flame that came out was white, and after staying on the rock for a while, the rock started falling apart in pieces .
“A white flame! Wow!” Abel said in awe .
Fire could be categorized into different levels . The ones that were ignited by fire elements were many times hotter than ordinary ones, and they could be classified into basic, intermediate, and advanced levels . The basic flames were from red to dark red, the intermediate ones were from orange to light yellow, and the advanced ones were the shades that came after .
Among the different classes of fire, the white ones were at the top level . They could burn almost everything . When most flames came into contact with the substance they were burning, they would usually change into whatever color the substances were . However, white flames would always retain the same color .
It was a white flame that the two-foot dragon spat out . That must’ve been stronger than a top-level advanced spell cast by a top-level advanced wizard . Abel really got lucky here . Actually, come to think of it, what was so scary about Wizard Cliff now? With the help of the pseudo-dragon, he could just go home and kill that man .
Hmm . That could work, but just to be safe, Abel decided that he must be at least a novice wizard first . To be safer than that, he decided that he should also be a summoner druid and a knight’s commander . He wanted to be strong, strong enough to protect himself, and anything that he saw as important .
Abel tapped the two-foot dragon by its scales, “Your name is Flying Flame from now on . The white flame you conjure will make your enemies tremble on the ground . ”
When Abel sent this message with his power of the Will, he could feel the two-foot dragon calling out in joy . “Flying Flame, Flying Flame . ” Now that Flying Flame’s got its own name, it started to look cheery .

Sarsaparilla's Scary Super Power. Completed
Sarsaparilla is an older teenage girl living on Mars. And, like many other young people around her, she has a super power. Or, rather, she is supposed to have a super power. Only she has never been able to activate it, she doesn’t even know what her super power is. This annoys her, tremendously. But she hides this behind a really sweet smile. Adalace is another teenage girl, also on Mars. She knows what her own super power is, and it is quite a good one. She is also really cute… so long has she keeps her feelings under control and doesn’t let out anything from her dark past. Teylon is a man, currently living on Earth. He likes to think of himself as still young, even if he is over fifty. He’s a bit smug about his successful career and is thinking of retiring… until a sadly unfortunate event leads him to the conclusion that he had better immigrate to Mars. Immediately. Apparently, meeting one’s own Angel of Death tends to cause people to make profound changes to their lives… Mars society had better brace itself, because once these three people, plus another three also not so quite stable individuals, collide with each other, the resulting explosion is not going to leave anyone on Mars unaffected. This is another Esmeralda, the Angel of Death, story. It follows on from my previous two such stories, but it is in no way dependent on the previous stories. They can be read in any order. It is fully written and proof read (using Word for Windows, no real editor touched this transcript) and comes to about 247,000 words (about 895 Royal Road pages). It is organized into 50 chapters and I will be publishing them roughly one per day. In my writing, there are multiple characters and multiple points of view. Each change in a point of view is introduced by a header, giving the viewpoint character’s name first, and possibly a title. Inside a Point of View section, dialog in italics represents the Point of View character’s thoughts, while dialog between quotes represent normal spoken dialog. This story is very much inspired by the anime A Certain Scientific Railgun. However I have only taken some elements from the anime, and changed everything I took to make my own story, and so it does not count as fanfiction. Yeah, I know, the book cover page isn’t very good. It’s the best I could do, by tracing over a stock image. The two ladies shown are supposed to be Adalace and Sarsaparilla. Ideally I would have liked there to be two images of this pair, one where they are smiling sweetly and looking cute, and one where they are looking really angry and dangerous. But that totally exceeds my graphics abilities. You will just have to imagine it.

After All
This is not my story. My story was of a world I forged by my raw will, and of you, my children, forged of my dreams. That story has long since ended. Our world was not alone. Another deity came from beyond my sight, and despite our resistance rent our world asunder. In the end, all was lost and you were gone. That I survived your passing is a testament to the cruelty of existence; I cannot forgive existence for the monstrous crime of making me go on without you. This is the story of a new world, forged by the hands of fools. That it is made from the bones of that which I most hated will bring this place no absolution. In the fullness of time, I will seize the reins of this new narrative, and I shall end it. You are lost to me, my children. I will make a funeral pyre of all reality for you, and be with you in oblivion after all. --- DocSumac here. This is a story that has been rattling around in my head for years. It's not complete, but I'm not going to let it haunt me anymore. I'm uploading what is ready, and I'll add more as I can. --- Addendum May 20, 2020: I've added the Sex tag. Not because of actual smut, but becuase of what will probably devolve into an ongoing parade of dick jokes. No point denying my nature.
