Chapter 4

‘Mr Chen drive to Tao Cang hotel,’ Cheng Yi said .

Zhen Zhen was nervous to have to strange men sit across from her stare at her and the man who saved her sat silently next to her .

‘I’m Zhen Zhen,’ Zhen Zhen said . ‘Thank you… I’m sorry about troubling you earlier . ’

None of the men answered Zhen Zhen .

‘You can drop me off at the street ahead,’ Zhen Zhen said . ‘I can take a taxi home . ’

Yue Gu Zui opened his eyes . ‘Did I say you can leave?’

Zhen Zhen looked at the scary intensity in Yue Gu Zui’s eyes . Her heart pounded and she instinctively moved around the round seat closer to Cheng Yi .

‘What do you want to do?’ Zhen Zhen asked . ‘It’s illegal to kidnap a person . ’

Cheng Yi and Bai Yu Tian laughed . They couldn’t believe Zhen Zhen talked about breaking the law in front of their boss .

‘What is there to laugh about?’ Zhen Zhen asked .

Yue Gu Zui wasn’t pleased Zhen Zhen moved closer to Cheng Yi .

‘Come here,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

‘No,’ Zhen Zhen said .

Cheng Yi and Bai Yu Tian were scared for Zhen Zhen’s life . The last person who dared to argue with their boss had disappeared .

‘Come here,’ Yue Gu Zui said impatiently .

‘You don’t need to use a scary tone,’ Zhen Zhen said .

Zhen Zhen reluctantly moved closer to Yue Gu Zui .

‘I need a girlfriend,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

‘What has that got to do with me?’ Zhen Zhen asked .

‘You said I’m your boyfriend,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

‘I had no other choice,’ Zhen Zhen said . ‘Besides I thanked you . ’

‘Are you saying you used me?’ Yue Gu Zui asked .

‘No…’ Zhen Zhen denied .

‘Ok,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

Yue Gu Zui laid his head on Zhen Zhen’s thighs . She didn’t know what he meant by ok . Why was it ok for him to lay his head on her thighs?

‘Hey!’ Zhen Zhen said .

‘Don’t move,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

‘Miss Zhen, our boss hasn’t slept for three days and three nights,’ Bai Yu Tian said . ‘Can you let him sleep?’

Zhen Zhen thought it was pitiful Yue Gu Zui didn’t sleep for three days and three nights . But it had nothing to do with her .

Zhen Zhen looked out the window . Her thighs were numb but she didn’t have the heart to move and disturb Yue Gu Zui’s sleep . His hair fell over his forehead and she thought he looked like a vulnerable child while he was sleeping . She couldn’t stop her hand from brushing his hair behind his ear . Suddenly she felt Cheng Yi and Bai Yu Tian’s eyes were staring strangely at her and she realised the car had stopped for a long time .

‘Are we here?’ Yue Gu Zui asked . ‘Why didn’t anyone wake me?’

Yue Gu Zui felt refreshed after a nap .

‘It’s ok to let them wait,’ Bai Yu Tian said .

Bai Yu Tian and Cheng Yi knew their boss hated the Tao Nan gang inside .

Zhen Zhen wasn’t satisfied about how slowly Bai Yu Tian adjusted his clothes . So she helped him button his shirt and felt three pairs of eyes stare at her strangely .

‘He was adjusting his clothes too slowly,’ Zhen Zhen said . ‘I wanted to help him so I can go home earlier . ’

Mr Chen opened the door . Yue Gu Zui wrapped an arm around Zhen Zhen and they walked into the Tao Cang hotel . That day Tao Cang was booked exclusively and it added danger to the hotel’s atmosphere .

‘Go find something to eat in the hotel restaurant,’ Yue Gu Zui instructed . ‘Don’t wander around the hotel . ’

Zhen Zhen was annoyed at Yue Gu Zui . But she behaved like a good vase and looked for food to fill her empty stomach . She walked into the hotel restaurant and hundreds of eyes made her too self-conscious to eat so she escaped to the toilet .

Zhen Zhen washed her face, tied hair into a ponytail and felt better after she cursed Yue Gu Zui at least seventeen times .

Zhen Zhen walked out of the toilet . She didn’t want to go back to the restaurant and wandered around the hotel . She accidently heard voices in a private room .

‘Mr Yue you’ve obstructed my business,’ a man said . ‘Considering I know teacher for many years, you should at least give me face in Tao Nan . ’

‘Mr Tao, teacher had not been involved in business for many years,’ Bai Yu Tian said . ‘Boss Yue has been in charge for many years . ’

Mr Tao understood Bai Yu Tian calling him Mr Tao was giving him enough face .

Yue Gu Zui sat crossed legged on a chair unconcerned .

‘I’ve said whoever buys from Da Tu Li is opposing me,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

‘You’re asking me to stand by and watch you swallow my goods worth a few millions,’ Mr Tao said .

Zhen Zhen had trouble breathing . It was tensed inside the private room .

‘Mr Tao then it appears I’ve swallowed your goods worth a few millions,’ Yue Gu Zui said .

More than twenty guns were aimed at Yue Gu Zui and Zhen Zhen covered her mouth to stop from screaming .

Mr Tao held a remote . ‘If you continue to be stubborn and refuse to release my goods then I’ll make the windows in this room opaque and no one will know what happened to you . ’

Suddenly Zhen Zhen couldn’t see or hear anything from the private room . She couldn’t charge into the room and become a shooting target . She searched her bag . Luckily there was a flask filled with chemicals from a failed experiment .

Zhen Zhen picked up a nearby vase, smashed a window and threw the flask into the private room . An explosion was heard and fumes obstructed the gang’s vision .

Yue Gu Zui disarmed Mr Tao while Cheng Yi and Bai Yu Tian pulled out their guns .

Cheng Yi and Bai Yu Tian ran behind Yue Gu Zui . Outside the private room Yue Gu Zui saw Zhen Zhen, he held her hand and they ran to the car .

Mr Chen sped off after his boss’ group entered the car .

‘Cheng Yi, contact Huyen’s group to deal with them,’ Yue Gu Zui said coldly .

‘Yes boss,’ Cheng Yi said .

Yue Gu Zui looked at Zhen Zhen who buried her head in his chest .

‘Did they give you a scare?’ Yue Gu Zui asked .

Zhen Zhen raised her head and swallowed her saliva . ‘A little . ’

Yue Gu Zui didn’t say anything else to comfort Zhen Zhen . She was annoyed why he didn’t thank her for saving his life so she looked out the window .

‘A lot of people are lining up in front of the Yue shop,’ Zhen Zhen said . ‘They sell the best cheese . ’

Zhen Zhen rubbed her pitiful stomach . She would need to settle for a bowl of noodles after she arrived home .

‘Are you hungry?’ Yue Gu Zui asked . ‘Do you like eating cheese?’

‘Of course but I haven’t had an opportunity to go buy cheese from the Yue shop,’ Zhen Zhen said .

Zhen Zhen regretted wasting time going to Lan Jin and the Tao Cang hotel without eating anything .

‘Mr Chen stop in front of the Yue shop,’ Yue Gu Zui said . ‘Cheng Yi buy a box of cheese . ’

The car stopped and Cheng Yi ran into the shop .

‘Why are you skipping the line?’ an angry mob asked .

The women in the angry mob were also a little envious . They thought the handsome Cheng Yi risked his life to buy cheese for his lover .

Cheng Yi ignored the angry mob .

‘Take the money,’ Cheng Yi said to the shop owner . ‘It’s more than a few days of your revenue . I only want a box of cheese . ’

The shop owner looked at the angry mob then he looked at the thick money notes . He would be a fool if he didn’t take the money . He smiled and gave a box of cheese to Cheng Yi .

Zhen Zhen happily ate the box of cheese and thought Yue Gu Zui wasn’t completely bad .

The car stopped in front of Zhen Zhen’s house . She waved goodbye and hoped she wouldn’t see Yue Gu Zui again .

Zhen Zhen walked into her home . Zhen Wu was sleeping in his room . She kissed his forehead and walked to her lab . She thought of Yue Gu Zui as a bad dream… she didn’t know their fates were permanently tangled .
