Li Fei did not leave the Martial Arts Department (MAD) with Jiang He, and remained there for a debriefing instead .

After he had finished reporting the casualties in his own farm and the farm next door, Li Fei wiped the sweat of his brow, saying quietly, “It’s lucky Jiang He came to help as soon as possible, or Killer Star and that dozen of Ferals would have gone on a slaughter—when that happens, it wouldn’t just be the farms, but all of Jinyintan Village would be destroyed . ”

Meanwhile, the entire MAD became busy .

With various major towns and villages around Lingzhou City attacked by Ferals, they naturally had to deal with the aftermath .

And since the MAD was shorthanded, Duan Tianhe immediately deployed the local public security forces .

All at once, every person in Lingzhou City was left panicking, with Duan Tianhe convening another emergency conference, contacting the local government and estate developers so that they implement the relocation of all towns and villages as soon as possible .

There was a trace of terror in Bai Feifei’s eyes and she gritted her teeth, saying, “It’s not just Killer Star’s body! All the corpses of the livestock and the dozen of Ferals that we should have found at the farms east of Jinyintan Village are all gone!”

“What?”

Duan Tianhe’s face dropped and he promptly made another call—but before he could speak, a voice spoke urgently from the other end, “We have a situation, Chief Duan!”

Thirty miles eastward of Jinyintan was a gully over a dozen meters deep . It was winding and craggy, stretching toward the distance .

Still, it was a very common gully amidst loess highlands .

As the soil loess highlands were loose, soft and had many peaks . Whenever there was a flood over the peak, the water would stream downward and converge beneath the hills, washing away much of the soil . After decades, centuries or even millennia, one gulley hence starting to form after another .

People were a rare sight in such places, with shepherds afraid that their livestock would fall into the gulley in the days before . There was naturally no one in sight once the revival of qi was made public .

Now, however, a lady stood beside one of the gulleys .

She looked to be around thirty, and she wore smoky—even frightening makeup . Her hair was short and she wore black spandex like Bai Feifei . Still, the only difference that set them apart was…

The lady’s eyes were fixed on the direction where the gulley extended, and she giggled . Her voice was soft like a loli’s, and she said, “So, the piece of trash called the Tranquil Heavenly General was hiding along this gulley?”

Three figures stood behind her .

Their auras were powerful . Two of them were rank-seven martial artists and one was a fire-type Awakened who was an equal match for them .

The three of them were all Fiends, Heavenly Generals of the Sky Demon Cult .

And yet, they did not even dare to speak .

Or even breathe too loudly .

If they misspoke and incurred her displeasure, they would promptly be cooked into puppet corpses . Who could they reason with then?

“Boring!”

Meanwhile, the lady complained and snorted coldly, before she giggled like a young girl again . “Luckily, Killer Star is still around . He would give me company and ease my boredom . ”

On the other hand, the three figures behind her were profoundly unsettled, feeling mysteriously frightened .

Did the crazy bitch control Killer Star’s corpse too?

“It’s still early in the morning . Why can’t you let me sleep?”

Jiang He, still drowsy from sleep heard someone knocking on his car window, and so promptly opened the car door and got off, rubbing his blurry eyes . However, before he could actually see who was knocking on his car, he could hear a yell—

“Aaaaah!”

“You thug!”

All drowsiness was gone from Jiang He’s body then, and he was a little lost for words as he looked at Wang Siyu, who was covering her eyes and yet staring at him between her fingers . “What are you doing? I’m all dressed up, and what is thuggish about… oh!”

Wang Siyu was at a loss for words too .

Nonetheless, Wang Siyu turned around and stopped staring at Jiang He . Her cheeks were flushed, and she could feel her heartbeats quickening when she put her hand over her chest .

Even so, she knew that now was not the time for something so trivial, and so spoke with her back still facing Jiang He, “Killer Star’s corpse… is gone . ”

“What?”

Jiang He’s face dropped, and he climbed back into his car, heading straight to Li Fei’s farm without washing up .

A large crowd was gathered around the farm, including the families of the dead, leaders of the village as well as police officers .

Stepping over the police line, Jiang He made a beeline for the spot where he buried Killer Star, and hung his head in agony when he saw the empty grave . “I promised him that I would visit his grave next year . Won’t I be breaking my promise with his corpse gone now?”

Be that as it may, he then saw a shoe beside the hole .

Jiang He was promptly relieved and he grinned . “A shoe? Not bad . We could make a cenotaph if we bury that shoe!”

Li Fei, who was coming toward him, almost slipped and fell when he heard Jiang He say that .

‘Bro…

‘Is that what you’re most concerned with?’

Nonetheless, Li Fei pointed at the loader he drove to pile the grave with, saying, “Old Jiang, the forensics team and some of the older inspectors had come by and had a look . Killer Star must have been dug the hole himself, meaning that he climbed out from beneath all by himself . ”

Frowning, Jiang He muttered, “He climbed out by himself? Does that mean Killer Star is not dead yet? No way, my sword did cut through the left side of his chest, and I could even see his broken heart at the time . The plot twist of having a heart on the right side of his chest shouldn’t be possible, or did a dead guy just come back to life?”

“It’s not just the Killer Star’s corpse,” Li Fei continued . “The more complete corpses of my livestock and the Ferals were all gone . I’ve contacted Chief Duan, and it seems that the same thing is happening in the other villages . ”

Pausing, Li Fei then said somberly, “The higher-ups suspect that someone had awakened superpowers that grants control over corpses!”
