Chapter 1049, Funeral
Because at that moment, the physical body of [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei] had suddenly collapsed like a carved statue into fine powder, drifting away with the wind. In the blink of an eye it had disappeared from the top of Capital Sky Peak and no longer existed.
How did that happen?
Shocked, Ye Qingyu instantly flashed closer, but there was nothing he could do and it was difficult to reverse the situation.
The fine powder dissipated, signifying...
Impossible!
Ye Qingyu forced that thought away from his mind.
It was impossible for the peerless [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei] to fall.
And since the [Cloud Top Cauldron] had returned safely, it proved that [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei] had not been defeated.
Ye Qingyu convinced himself with tens of millions of reasons.
He wanted to find some clues from the [Cloud Top Cauldron]. He carefully sank into an observation state, but there was no special indication on the cauldron. The storage space in the cauldron, as before, was still stored with Ye Qingyu's collection. All precious treasures were present. [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei's] divine spirit was not preserved in the [Cloud Top Cauldron]. The only change was that drop of blood.
This was the blood of a Quasi-emperor.
And Ye Qingyu was certain that it must be the blood of [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei].
What had happened in that starry field, and what was the outcome of the battle? Ye Qingyu saw with his eyes that the grey-copper temple was smashed, and that a terrifying long-haired creature had rushed out to battle against [Quasi-emperor Xiaofei]... What kind of creature was living...

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Ever wonder what would happen if a summoned """"hero"""" gets kid-- summoned multiple times? Will they ever get tired of it? ***I re-read the first 16 chapters and figured I should rewrite it when I get a new PC. Yes, I'm not writing this on a PC, but on my mobile. Everything on mobile, so pardon the quality since my thumbs are bigger than the keys, and will be bound to have quite a lot of mistakes. ***Getting lazy to fix the first 16. If you want to PR them, PM me with your edits. ------------------ KaosChild is my previous name. I now go as, Gyfera.
