《Genius Detective》Chapter 47: Jia on the Run

Seeing that the employees were coming out, the two quickly left. They hid in a small storage room next to the conference room for stacking products.
Lin Dongxue whispered, “Why not directly attack?”
“There is no evidence. If we keep coming to annoy them, I’m afraid that we will be rejected at the door. It will be difficult to continue the investigation at that time. In fact, we are currently illegally trespassing.”
“What!?”
“Don’t worry, if there is a problem, I’ll shoulder the responsibility. This is the benefit of the master civilians... Okay, no one is in the corridor, let's go to the conference room to see.”
The two snuck into the conference room where the morning meeting was just held like thieves. The structure of this floor was like that of a square-shaped donut. The office area was concentrated on the north and west sides. The south side was the main entrance of the company, and the conference room was on the left side of the entrance.
At this time, Xu Xiaodong called. Lowering his voice on the phone, he said, “Is it done? I can’t hold out on my side much longer.”
“No, try to hold out a little more!” Chen Shi urged.
“Fuck, I can’t anymore. Even my smokes are almost exhausted.”
“Then ask to watch the surveillance footage. Take the computer so as not to let the security guard see us.”
“Good idea!” Xu Xiaodong hung up the phone.
“Young man, you still have a lot to learn.” Chen Shi said to himself.
“Where did you learn this sort of stuff?” Lin Dongxue looked at him with her head cocked to the side.
“Life experience... Let's get started!”
He opened the box and inside was a lamp. After the socket was connected, the UV lamp could be used.
Lin Dongxue held the box in her hands behind her. Chen Shi surveyed in front with the lamp. When they went to a place, Chen Shi suddenly stopped and said, “Hey look at this.”
“Found blood?” Lin Dongxue said excitedly.
“No, you can see some traces on the ground. There was a table here, which seems very similar to the traces of the one-piece iron frame table and chair that the deceased was bound to!” Chen Shi stood up and looked around and found that there was a row of windows on the wall, but it was blocked. It also had a layer of paint brushed over it, “Look at this structure, it should be originally designed for a canteen. The small warehouse we just stayed in was originally the kitchen, but it was later changed into two rooms. the big one for a meeting room, the small for a warehouse.”

“How can this kind of inhumane company prepare a canteen for employees?” Lin Dongxue ridiculed.
Chen Shi pulled out a small bottle from his pocket, pulled out the soaked absorbent cotton from the inside, and dabbed it on the ground. He put the cotton wool stick under his nose and said, “There is alcohol. It seems that the company's people have eaten here. Maybe a dinner party.”
“Bloodstains! Check for bloodstains!” Lin Dongxue anxiously urged as she feared that the employees would come in and see them in the act. As a policeman, they were doing thieves' work, which was too shameful.
The two almost checked every inch of the ground but found nothing. Chen Shi said, “There is no blood!”
“Your reasoning is wrong?”
“The deceased died of postural asphyxia. When they die, there will be no blood drops. There will only be blood when they saw off the head. Let’s go. Go to the stairwell to see.”
“Hey, there are people at the front desk!”
“Sorry, forgot.”
The two hid behind the door and stood watch. When the lady at the front desk got up and went to the bathroom, they immediately snuck out. Chen Shi did not go immediately. He took a wireless camera from the paper bag that he had been given by the bald-headed guy and placed it in the pot plant in the conference room before covering it with fallen leaves.
Lin Dongxue opened his mouth in surprise. It turned out to a wireless camera.
The two quietly went to the back stairwell and continued to repeat their previous actions.
However, no blood was found there.
Chen Shi scratched his head and said, “From the look of things, the body was moved as a whole. The blood may be in the car... Or in the wild!”
“If it’s the latter, then we wouldn’t be able to find it at all... Can it be that the deceased wasn’t killed here?”
“Whether or not she was killed here, we must first rule out all possibilities! Let’s finish up here.” Chen Shi dialed Xu Xiaodong’s number on his phone, indicating that Xu Xiaodong could withdraw.

“Finishing work? Shouldn’t we see the manager?”
“What’s the point of seeing him? We’ll come over tomorrow and throw a frontal attack.”
“Why tomorrow?”
“Stupid, I just put a camera here. It will record their morning meeting. We can charge the manager for sexual harassment. That way we can come in freely to investigate.”
“Haha, oh yeah we still have this trick up our sleeves!” Lin Dongxue clapped her hands. Then she suddenly thought of a problem, “But your means of obtaining evidence is a little...”
“Nothing, I will send you the video anonymously. Then you go through the formal procedure to apply for an arrest warrant. This is the convenience of master civilians.”
“You have so many tricks up your sleeve.”[1]
The three met up at the bottom of the company. Chen Shi drove the two back to the bureau and said, “Let’s meet tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. I need to run a few orders. I haven’t worked these past two days.”
“Brother Chen, do we have no tasks?” Xu Xiaodong said.
“Just rest for a bit!”
Lin Dongxue said, “You are confident that the victim died inside the company? What if something goes wrong? Do you want to investigate other clues?”
Chen Shi shook his head and said, “Young comrade, the investigation of a case can be said to be blind trial and error. Everyone is responsible for their own individual piece. The final puzzle that those pieces combine to be will be the truth. One's energy is limited. It is impossible to cover everything solo. This is a point you can learn from your brother. Catching a clue and focusing on it till the very end. This perseverance ought to be encouraged.”
“Your tone is not at all like you’re praising him.”
“Haha, you try and understand it yourself. I will take my leave first.”
The two got out of the car, Xu Xiaodong said, “It’s eleven o'clock. Should we eat a meal first? I’ll treat you!”
Lin Dongxue rolled her eyes at him. “You have a gold mine in your house? Asking to treat me all the time?”
“But you haven’t said yes once!”
“Sorry, I am not hungry right now.”
It was at that moment Lin Qiupu took a piece of information and came out from the main entrance. When he saw the two people, he smiled and said, “How is it? Are you making progress? There is progress on our side. The bloodstains on Jia's knife are consistent with the blood type of the deceased. “
Lin Dongxue groaned and thought that this time she would really lose to Lin Qiupu. She asked, “What about the DNA?”
“Well, it’s still getting tested, but I believe that the results are 100% consistent. What about your side? Don't hide things from me.”
Lin Dongxue recalled their findings in detail while Lin Qiupu listened, sneered and shook his head, “I think he thinks the case is too complicated. Even if the company style is not very good, but they are also ordinary people. When ordinary people commit a crime for the first time, it will always drag the water[2]. This case was done so cleanly and neatly. From the very beginning, I expected it to be an experienced criminal.”
Lin Dongxue was speechless. She was afraid that anything she said now would be gossiped about later. To be honest, she was already doubting Chen Shi’s reasoning. The god of luck couldn’t be looking out for Chen Shi all the time.
At this time, Lin Qiupu received a call and his expression changed dramatically after listening. He ordered, “Terrible news! Jia escaped from the hospital! You are to follow me and hunt him down now!”
1. Directly it would be translated to flowery intestines. I am unsure of the backstory of this idiom, but it means that he has lots of ideas and tricks.
2. Have flaws. Not be so well thought-out.
