For Chen Feng, it was possible for him to absorb the lightning powers. Only, his opponent was unleashing a furious flurry of attacks at him at the moment, making it impossible for him to devour them at a large scale.

Individually, these two lightning Slaughterers were stronger than the three-headed and six-armed Slaughterer he faced earlier.

Caught in the midst of the attacks, Chen Feng was incapable of moving forward. A more unsightly description of his situation was that he was trapped.

I was careless. Chen Feng secretly sighed to himself as he kept displaying his sword techniques to cut down all of the lightning attacks that approached him.

Suddenly, space rippled and all of the attacks disappeared. Next, Magiris appeared beside him.

“Looks like you’re not doing too well,” Magiris said with a smile.

“Enough with the nonsense. These two fellows are very strong. One careless mistake and we’ll die.” There was a serious expression on Chen Feng’s face. The moment Magiris teleported the surrounding lightning attacks away, the Longevity Sword flew out from Chen Feng’s hand to arrive above one of the lightning Slaughterers. But before it could descend, the lightning whip that it fired out knocked it away.

“Help me,” Chen Feng said to Magiris.

Magiris nodded and used his eye technique again. Following that, Chen Feng disappeared to re-appear behind one of the lightning Slaughterers.

That was the effect of Magiris’ eye technique.

With a beckoning move from Chen Feng, the Longevity Sword flew into his grasp before stabbing into the Slaughterer’s body at lightning-like speed. At the same time, sword light swelled outwards to pierce right through its massive body.

Boom!

Before Chen Feng could extricate himself, however, a lightning bolt heavily struck him to send him flying.

The other Slaughterer gave Chen Feng a glance before sending a lightning chain forward to tie him up.

However, the lightning chain missed. Chen Feng had disappeared, re-appearing behind the wounded Slaughterer. Once again, Ageless Light swept out from his glabella.

Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa! Pa!

The Slaughterer had sensed danger. Lightning powers kept surging out, not to attack Chen Feng, but to create a thick protective barrier around itself.

The Ageless Light cut into the lightning powers to create a blinding radiance. This time, the Ageless Light failed to cleave the Slaughterer into two, but it did pierce the Slaughterer’s body. Most importantly, it managed to reach the Slaughterer’s crystal core. Due to that, the massive Slaughterer began convulsing.

In the beginning, Chen Feng was somewhat taken aback by its response. But when the Slaughterer’s body began collapsing, he sensed that he had found his opponent’s weakness.

His hand stretched out and a crystal core flew into his grasp. After that, his figure dashed to evade the incoming lightning attacks.

By working together, they had managed to kill one of the two Gold Immortal stage Slaughterers. He had not expected this. As for the other lightning Slaughterer, its aura took on a somewhat fluctuating quality. Knowing that the other party was feeling fear, Chen Feng burst into a smile.

“Can Slaughterers feel fear?” Chen Feng’s will to fight surged upwards as he replenished the power that he used up for the earlier attacks. The soul seed within his sea of wisdom burst open with a bang and a clump of golden light spread out. Next, a formidable ripple caused the entire sea of wisdom to shake and Chen Feng felt as though he was on the verge of losing control of the situation.

“Kill!”

The Longevity Wings on Chen Feng’s back flapped and he rapidly charged towards the other lightning Slaughterer. In the beginning, there had been a need to evade its attacks. However, things changed once Magiris took action. A portion of the attacks were teleported away, lightening the pressure on Chen Feng.

Chi!

Chen Feng could not hold it back anymore. Once again, he fired out the Ageless Light attack. Golden light swept out to destroy everything in its wake. As for the Slaughterer, it had long since prepared itself for this. The lightning power it released from its mouth formed a lightning dragon that assailed the incoming Ageless Light attack.

“Scram!”

Magiris had already closed his eyes and two drops of blood trickled out from the closed eyes. Even so, formidable energy waves continued to charge out through his eyelids.

Just as the lightning dragon was about to collide against the Ageless Light, it was suddenly cut into several sections. The Ageless Light, on the other hand, abruptly accelerated to fall upon the Slaughterer’s body and it almost split the Slaughterer’s body in half.

“Alright! Let’s finish it off in one go!” Magiris shouted. Despite his closed eyes, he was still able to see what was happening there.

“We should.” Chen Feng nodded and another stream of Ageless Light shot out from his glabella. This time, though, it quickly disappeared.

Following that, Chen Feng grunted and his figure wobbled. A crack appeared on his glabella and waves of chaotic power emanated out from it, becoming like hurricanes to rage around him.

“What’s wrong with you?” Magiris asked, concerned.

“I overused the Ageless Light. It caused a backlash.” Chen Feng grunted again. There was a calm look on his face but he knew just how bad the situation was.

“How can this happen at such a critical moment?”

Normally, no matter how serious the problem may be, they would be able to slowly resolve it. Only, this was not a normal situation. They were in the midst of a critical moment in battle. One careless mistake would translate to their deaths.

“I’ll stop him.” Magiris closed his eyes and brandished the Illusory Demon Edge, moving forward as he attempted to stop the Slaughterer.

Suddenly, another Gold Immortal stage Slaughterer appeared. This one had a human appearance and he wielded a battle lance. He thrust his lance forward from afar, causing the surrounding space to freeze.

Even before his opponent attacked, Chen Feng could already sense danger. Due to that, he pre-emptively ducked to the side, but the battle lance then swung to send him flying.

Pa! Pa! Pa!

That was the sound of his amour cracking.

Just one blow had been enough to break through the defence of his combat armour. Chen Feng knew then that this opponent’s offensive power was very strong. At that very moment, however, his soul was badly damaged and his sea of wisdom was unstable. His combat power had fallen by several notches. He was most certainly no match for this Slaughterer.

Chen Feng was not the only one facing a tough time. Magiris was also sent flying.

The two of them stood side by side, both facing a difficult time.

The two of them had their eyes closed. Chen Feng had overused the Ageless Light, causing damage to his soul. Magiris, on the other hand, had overused his eye techniques, which also caused damage to his soul.

Earlier, the two of them had worked together to kill off the Gold Immortal stage Slaughterers and put on a grand display of might, but the situation had quickly changed and they now found themselves in a highly precarious position.

“Can you run away?”

“It’ll be somewhat difficult.”

“I was careless. Back when I was cultivating it, it was still somewhat unstable. I should not have forced myself to use it. Still. Even though we are unable to kill them, they can forget about killing us.” Chen Feng’s hand reached out to touch his glabella and the crack there closed up. Not a single mark could be seen there.

The soul flame within his sea of wisdom burned fiercely. Although both his eyes remained closed, his aura had stabilized.

Weng!

Suddenly, the Longevity Sword thrummed and the power it gave off turned slightly chaotic, becoming somewhat cantankerous.

“Your Longevity Sword wants to level up? Now is not the time for this.” Magiris realized what was happening.

“It is indeed not the time for this, but there is nothing I can do.” Chen Feng smiled and extended a finger to tap the Longevity Sword. Not only did the Longevity Sword not stabilize, it instead released an even sharper sound.

Chen Feng frowned. He then waved his hand and a talisman flew out to paste itself onto the Longevity Sword. After that, the Longevity Sword fell silent.

“What kind of talisman is that? Is it useful?” Magiris asked quizzically.

“I inadvertently got my hands on it. It is something that a veteran Gold Immortal crafted. It contains a Spirit Gathering Array and Soul Subduing Array. Naturally, it also has some other powers. Only, I have not done a detailed study on it yet,” Chen Feng said with a smile.

“You’re using it even though you haven’t finished studying it? Isn’t that a little too risky?” Magiris’ eyes widened.

“What about it? Are we in any position to not take risks? Still, it is true that I had wanted to properly study it. This is something that a veteran Gold Immortal crafted, after all. “A good sword technique!”

Hearing those words of praise from the Slaughterers, Chen Feng then saw the two Gold Immortal stage Slaughterers charge forward. In the Slaughterers’ opinion, these two human cultivators were too detestable. They had killed off a high number of Slaughterers, even some Gold Immortals.

As the strongest powerhouses amongst the Slaughterers, the strength of those Gold Immortal stage Slaughterers was simply a defiance of Heaven. They simply did not view the opposing Gold Immortals here as a threat.

And yet, facing Chen Feng and Magiris had given the Slaughterers a feeling of danger. For that reason, they had to get rid of the two.

The Slaughterer with the battle lance strode forward. The attack that he unleashed was very simple, but it was very strong. “I’m not trying to get myself killed. I am saving you.” Chen Feng snickered.

“Save my ass! As if I need you to save me! I’m doing fine!” Magiris then opened his eyes. This time, the stream of light that flew out was not black in colour, but dazzling golden.
