《Everlasting》Chapter 1145 Entering the Battlefield

Although the Longevity Tower was only heading out to lure the enemy away, Chen Feng had a feeling that the Longevity Tower would not return anytime soon.
Following the Longevity Tower’s departure, Chen Feng had first felt somewhat uncomfortable and empty. However, his heart quickly relaxed.
Only then did Chen Feng realize how much he had been relying on the Longevity Tower all this time. Thanks to the changes to his state of mind, Chen Feng then entered a wondrous state.
An epiphany from the depths of the soul! Tie Zhen and the others exchanged glances before silently backing away. Some of them even revealed a slight look of envy. An epiphany of this level was incredibly rare, comparable even to over 10,000 years of bitter effort.
As expected of the most noble bloodline! Tie Zhen secretly mused.
Even after the warship had arrived, Chen Feng was still immersed in the transformation of his state of mind. As for Tie Zhen and the others, they kept standing guard over Chen Feng, not allowing anyone to approach him so as to not disrupt him.
Chen Feng was experiencing a very special change. His soul power was not growing stronger, but his state of mind was clearly improving. This was a qualitative improvement, akin to a large dog transforming into a young tiger. And although its strength was still very small, its room for growth had expanded.
His divine sense spread across the warship. And although the amount of soul power he was using was similar to the past, the scope had increased by 10%.
Over 100,000 cultivators were in the midst of a bloody battle and the sky was dyed red. Mountains cracked and the lands roiled. Various chaotic powers kept rampaging about and highly-compressed pillars of energy kept flying around. Those were the energy cannons, which roared loudly.
This was a battlefield that would only appear in a high-level world like the Immortal Plane. Any participants in this battle would be considered as a pinnacle expert in the lesser worlds.
The 10,000 plus cultivators from the Six Daos Sword Faction had already joined the war. Even so, the situation remained unfavourable to them. The Six Daos Sword Faction had to face the combined attacks of two other forces. They could not neutralize the pressure nor avoid the casualties of this war.
As for Sword Premier Demolisher and the other high-level Heavenly Immortals, they were fighting within an independent stretch of space. Besieged, they were in a disadvantageous spot. Even in the grand scheme of the war, the tens of thousands of cultivators from the Six Daos Sword Faction were constantly forced to give ground. Should this be allowed to continued, it would end with the collapse of the Six Daos Sword Faction’s army.
“There are 18 spiritual fountains here. These fountains are the objectives of the two warring parties,” said one of Chen8’s bodyguard named Jin Feng, a mid-level Heavenly Immortal.
“What grade of spiritual fountains?” Chen Feng grew interested.
“These are spiritual fountains containing the grand dao of Heaven. It can benefit cultivators up to the high-level Heavenly Immortal stage. Even True Immortals and Ascendant Immortals can absorb the spiritual energy there to cultivate.” Jin Feng had already inquired the details of the spiritual fountains.
“These are good items,” Chen Feng said, flying out from the warship to join the battlefield. Tie Zhen’s team of six followed him closely.

The moment he approached the battlefield, hundreds of attacks shot towards Chen Feng like a hail of arrows. However, even the strongest amongst the attacks were from a half-step Heavenly Immortal. This was due to Chen Feng’s cultivation base at the True Immortal stage. Thus, Heavenly Immortals were not dispatched against him. Only some Heavenly Immortals with formidable cultivation bases were able to sense something amiss.
Before the attacks could approach Chen Feng, swift and forceful sword beams shredded the attacks to bits. Next, the sword beams swirled around before expanding into his surroundings. By the time the sword beams dissipated, over 100 enemy cultivators had died to the sword beams.
“What? They have an expert!”
“Fellow cultivator! As a Heavenly Immortal, killing True Immortals is a violation of the laws and regulations of the Immortal Plane.” Seeing what happened, a Heavenly Immortal there grew furious. With a wave of his hand, he formed a great starlight hand, which then pressed down on Chen Feng.
Shua!
A sword beam flashed out and the great starlight hand was cut down. At the same time, the Heavenly Immortal’s entire arm shattered apart.
“You’re a high-level Heavenly Immortal. Attacking a True Immortal is a violation of the Immortal Plane’s rules, no?” Tie Zhen said.
“How can he be a True Immortal?” Envoy Heavenly Sword from the Immortal Sword Sect spoke up, his voice drifting out before transforming into a flying sword, which shot towards Chen Feng.
“Courting death!” Tie Zhen’s battle lance swung out to shatter the flying sword. Next, the battle lance stabbed forward and a large hole appeared on Envoy Heavenly Sword’s body.
“Tie Zhen, go kill him,” Chen Feng said.
“But…” Tie Zhen felt somewhat concerned.
“Don’t worry. With the five of them following me, there will not be any dangers,” Chen Feng said, the sword in his hand slashing forward to form a Storm of Sword Beams, which swept far into the distance.
Due to Chen Feng’s insistence, Tie Zhen nodded. His entire being seemingly became upright. Wielding his battle lance, he then strode forward. With one step, he broke space. With the second step, he entered the battle dimension of the Heavenly Immortals.
“Die!”
Every single move from Tie Zhen was clean and quick. The battle lance in his hand stabbed out with lightning-like speed and Envoy Heavenly Sword was pierced by the lance. Envoy Heavenly Sword had wanted to evade but failed. In the end, he was killed off. Only after he had died did the few cultivators there howl out and their attacks surged forward.
A lance silhouette abruptly burst into two before bursting into four. In the end, it became countless and the cultivators attacking Tie Zhen were all sent tumbling backwards.
“How is this possible?!”
The cultivators from the Starsource Order and Immortal Sword Sect exchanged glances. They were all high-level Heavenly Immortals. How could there be such a big difference between them? Then, they thought back to the True Immortal from earlier. Perhaps, he was really a True Immortal.
“Ha ha ha ha ha! Chen Qing is indeed a True Immortal of our Six Daos Sword Faction! Our Six Daos Sword Faction has yet to stoop so low as to bully those at a lower level!” Sword Premier Demolisher laughed loudly.

“Sword Premier Demolisher, why must it come to this? As long as your side agrees to it, we will be able to negotiate this peacefully. Why must it escalate to the point where we cannot even negotiate?” Suddenly, Envoy Starbreak from the Starsource Order spoke up. At the same time, he and Envoy Crescent Moon cast a glance at Tie Zhen. They had determined that Tie Zhen was the one who teleported away the warship back then.
“You fellows are the ones who started this war. Although our Six Daos Sword Faction has fallen, we are still not something that sects like yours can bully. You want to exterminate our Six Daos Sword Faction? Are you aware of what kind of price you have to pay for that?” Sword Premier Demolisher laughed loudly. Even with Tie Zhen’s participation, their side was still in a disadvantageous position. However, Tie Zhen’s strength had given him slightly more confidence.
Only, since killing off Envoy Heavenly Sword, Tie Zhen had not taken the initiative to attack anymore. Turning to look at Chen Feng, he then saw a display of dominance from him. Killing intent surged to the sky as the sword in his hand swung and sword beams rampaged about. Jin Feng and the other four bodyguards followed Chen Feng while keeping a distance from him, not attacking at all. Some starter-level Heavenly Immortals were sent flying before they could even approach the five bodyguards. Due to that, everyone there realized just how strong the five of them were and they dared not approach them anymore.
Over 300 True Immortals had fallen to Chen Feng. Next, the sword beam he fired out cut through space and his figure flashed forward to enter yet another battlefield.
The number of cultivators in this battlefield also exceeded a thousand. All of them were Heavenly Immortals, one level higher compared to the battlefield of True Immortals that he was in earlier.
Entering the battlefield, Chen Feng was immediately targeted by the combined attacks from tens of Heavenly Immortals. Seeing that, Jin Feng and the others wanted to immediately rush forward.
“I’ll deal with this. You fellows stand aside.” Chen Feng pushed out with both hands and a shield appeared before him. It was none other than the Longevity Shield that had levelled up to the pseudo-Divine tier.
All the attacks fused as one before landing on the Longevity Shield. Instantly, Chen Feng felt as though a river of stars from the Nine Heavens was scouring him. The Longevity Shield was only able to endure for one breath’s worth of time. The Longevity runes on its surface burst apart in quick succession before the shield itself disintegrated. The remaining energy streams then scoured Chen Feng’s body and multi-coloured streams of light engulfed Chen Feng.
The faces of Jin Feng and the other four bodyguards sank and they wanted to rush forward only to be stopped by tens of enemy cultivators. Even Tie Zhen’s face sank, but two enemy cultivators stopped him.
Due to their feelings of concern, Tie Zhen and the others stopped holding back. They unleashed a tempestuous wave of attacks which quickly killed off tens of Heavenly Immortals.
“The Longevity Clan! These fellows are from the Longevity Clan!”
Someone exclaimed and the Heavenly Immortals from the Starsource Order and Immortal Sword Sect revealed looks of concern.
“Don’t worry. I am fine.” Chen Feng’s voice then made its way to the ears of his six bodyguards. After the streams of light dissipated away, Chen Feng could be seen there, utterly unscathed. The power of laws intertwined one another as a suit of combat armour covered in various runes wrapped around Chen Feng.
The Longevity Combat Armour! The eyes of Jin Feng and the others lit up.
A pity, it is only at the pseudo-Divine tier. That said, it contains the power of 64 Heavenly laws. It should already be comparable to a genuine Divine artifact. Chen Feng kicked with both legs to disappear from where he was standing and the attacks descending from the sky missed. Chen Feng then charged into a highly-packed battleground.
Earlier, Chen Feng’s fight against the True Immortals was practically a slaughter fest and even Chen Feng felt like a bully. Only now was he able to feel pressured. The combined attacks from the tens of Heavenly Immortals earlier managed to break apart the Longevity Shield and even force Chen Feng to retreat quite a bit.
Without the Longevity Tower to serve as insurance and backing, everything came down to Chen Feng alone. In the face of the pressure, Chen Feng kept killing his way forward. Finally, he was able to feel the satisfaction of battle.
Of the two high-level Heavenly Immortals who were besieging Tie Zhen, one was killed while the other was badly wounded. Tie Zhen, on the other hand, was not satisfied with this result. Only, seeing Chen Feng safe and sound, he grew relieved.
“Fellow cultivator, why would your Celestial Longevity Plane interfere in the war between our side and the Six Daos Sword Faction? Are you fellows perhaps interested in the spiritual fountains here? If that’s the case, just say the word and we will retreat.” There was a hint of awe in the way Envoy Starbreak looked at Tie Zhen.
Due to the war a million years ago, the Celestial Longevity Plane’s strength had fallen somewhat. Even so, its exalted position was not something that forces like the Starsource Order could contend against.
Existences like the Celestial Planes were for the Immortal Court to worry about. The Starsource Order and Six Daos Sword Faction were incapable of withstanding even a finger from the other party.
Tie Zhen ignored them. With one step, he left this battlefield to enter the battlefield that Chen Feng was in. The battle lance in his hand swung out and the tens of Heavenly Immortals blocking his way were all killed.
No one dared to speak up and criticize Tie Zhen.
“Let’s just retreat.” Envoy Starbreak sighed.
Chen Feng, who was having his fill of fighting in the battlefield, suddenly felt the pressure on him lessening. Only then did he notice that the other party was retreating. Seeing that, the cultivators from the Six Daos Sword Faction’s side, who were already on the verge of losing, let out howls of surprised delight.
Looking around, Chen Feng immediately understood what happened.
Looks like I cannot stay in the Six Daos Sword Faction anymore.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
