《Everlasting》Chapter 862 Deepsea Spectre

Hearing that, Chen Feng broke into a smile. This was not the first time they had invited him. They had four cultivators in their team, all at the high-level Human Immortal stage. It was a small team, only established recently. This time, they were out for an ocean adventure.
After a brief interaction with Chen Feng, they had tried to recruit him only for Chen Feng to refuse. Chen Feng’s objective was different from them, after all.
“Guys, I have already said it before. I have a different objective for heading into the ocean,” Chen Feng refused with a smile.
“Brother Chen, aren’t you heading to Glazed Island?”
“Of course not.”
“That’s a pity. Recently, a change has happened to Glazed Island and more glazed treasures have appeared there. Most of the cultivators on this ship are heading to Glazed Island.”
“That’s right, Brother Chen. I can see that you possess quite the decent cultivation level. Come join our team and explore Glazed Island. You’ll be able to obtain some treasures.”
“I’ll think about it when the time comes. If I do end up in Glazed Island, I will surely join your team.” Chen Feng smiled.
Even though they were feeling disappointed to see Chen Feng refuse, they did not say anything about it.
Bang!
Suddenly, the colossal ship shook. It felt as though something had struck it.
“It’s probably water yaos again.”
Along the way, they had encountered the attacks from water yaos many times. However, the colossal ship possessed a defensive power equivalent to that of a Dao artefact. Additionally, there were also many cultivators on the ship. Due to that, the journey was not a dangerous one for them.
“I wonder what type of water yaos came this time?” All of them laughed as they continued chatting amongst themselves. They were not feeling too worried about it.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Soon, though, they all felt something amiss. The sound of collisions rang out repeatedly, causing the 1,000-zhang-long ship to shake fiercely.
Weng!
Light flashed out as a thick layer of barrier encased the entire ship. Next up, violent attacks landed upon the barrier.
“Looks like the water yaos this time are quite powerful,” said a cultivator known as Sun Ming as he furrowed his brows.
This colossal ship was a ship belonging to one of the great trade associations of Domain World, specializing in providing services for cultivators who wanted to head to the ocean for an adventure. This Dao-tier ship had journeyed into the ocean many times before. Although it would face attacks every time, it would always safely reach its destination.
Thus, despite facing this level of attack, most of the cultivators aboard were not feeling too concerned.
Even so, some of the cultivators with higher cultivation levels did sense something amiss. The attacks they were facing this time felt different compared to the attacks they had faced in the past.
Chen Feng spread out his divine sense, which easily made its way down through the barrier. There, Chen Feng noticed one titanic creature after another attacking the hull of the ship. Additionally, there were also a high number of black silhouettes emerging from the depths of the ocean to attack the ship.

What is this?
Chen Feng suddenly noticed a black silhouette making its way through the ship, disappearing from sight. Seeing that startled Chen Feng. Then, focusing his divine sense, he noticed that the black silhouettes were making their through the barrier and into the ship.
Could they be Deepsea Spectres?
If that is the case, this will be problematic.
As Chen Feng was tracking the movements of the black silhouettes, the ones in charge of the ship, members of the trade association, quickly took action. There were grim looks on their faces.
“Damn it! We encountered Deepsea Spectres!”
“These things are not that scary. I’ll go check it out.” A high-level Human Immortal then stepped into a teleportation array set up within the ship to head into the waters.
“That fellow has a death wish! The last time this ship encountered Deepsea Spectres, we ended up with a high number of casualties. If it weren’t for the fact that there were a few experts amongst the passengers back then, this ship would not have been able make it out.”
“What do we do, then?”
“Don’t panic. First, investigate the number of water yaos and Deepsea Spectres. If we cannot handle it, we’ll have to ask the passengers to help out.”
“The water yaos are not the problem here. It’s the Deepsea Spectres. They are simply too terrifying.”
It was the truth. Chen Feng himself was personally witnessing the terror of the Deepsea Spectres. One of the black silhouettes had made its way into the ship. Like a body snatcher, it quickly entered the body of a starter-level Human Immortal. Chen Feng’s lifebound flame burned with intensity and he was able to easily see through the starter-level Human Immortal’s body. He watched as the black silhouette utterly devoured the cultivator’s soul. It was far more overbearing than the usual body-snatching process.
As expected, it’s Deepsea Spectres. Logically speaking, this part of the ocean should not have any Deepsea Spectres. Did something happen? Chen Feng grew puzzled.
“Brother Chen, what is it?” Sun Ming noticed the change in Chen Feng’s expression and he could not stop himself from asking.
“We could be in trouble,” Chen Feng said.
“Trouble? What trouble? These are just some water yaos,” a cultivator named Shao Wu said scornfully.
Sun Ming’s actions of inviting Chen Feng into their team several times had earned Shao Wu’s displeasure. Thus, he deliberately shot out words of ridicule. At the same time, he also attacked, performing a grasping motion to crush and kill one of the water yaos outside.
“It’s not just water yaos. There are also Deepsea Spectres.” Chen Feng then motioned with his hand, causing the space before him to ripple as images began playing out there. It was none other than the situation within the waters. One black silhouette after another snuck beneath the cover provided by the titanic water yaos to enter the ship.
“Those really are Deepsea Spectres! There are so many of them!” Sun Ming was shocked.
“I’ll check it out!” Like Chen Feng, Shao Wu also sent his divine sense through the barrier to investigate the situation under the ocean.
“It’s true! There are so many of them!” Shao Wu’s face sank. Suddenly, several black silhouettes noticed his divine sense and they instantly attacked. In just a flash, they devoured the stream of divine sense that Shao Wu sent into the ocean.

His divine sense devoured, Shao Wu’s soul became damaged and he began bleeding from his seven orifices.
“Shao Wu! What happened?” Sun Ming and several others quickly rushed forward.
“It’s true. There are Deepsea Spectres. I was attacked by them.” Thanks to the assistance from them, Shao Wu was able to quickly recover. However, his face remained somewhat pale.
“Deepsea Spectres! This ocean adventure is not smooth sailing for us. I wonder if the Seacloud Trade Association can handle them.”
“The way I see it, it will be very difficult for them. If it’s just water yaos, they would be able to handle it no matter how many of them there are. However, these Deepsea Spectres can come and go without leaving a trace and secretly possess others.”
“There’s also a lot of them,” Shao Wu continued.
“Get ready for battle.”
They were not the only ones to notice the existence of the Deepsea Spectres. Many others on the ship had noticed it as well. The news spread quickly and it did not take long before every cultivator on the ship was aware that they were in serious trouble.
“Prepare for battle!”
“We are passengers here! We have already paid for this trip. The guys from Seacloud Trade Association should be the ones to deal with this!”
“That’s right. I paid a great deal of money for this ocean trip. The Deepsea Spectres are terrifying existences. We are incapable of dealing with them.”
“Everyone, don’t panic! Let’s observe the situation first.”
“Who’s panicking? I’m just feeling a little dissatisfied.”
Bang!
A slight uproar rippled through the entire ship. It was then that a banging sound rang out as a starter-level Human Immortal who was hiding in a corner fell to the floor. Next, a black silhouette flew out from his body to fly into the body of another cultivator.
“A Deepsea Spectre!”
Several cultivators attacked at the same time to quickly kill off the possessed cultivator. They surrounded a black silhouette, sending a clump of flames to engulf it. Instantly, the black silhouette cried out in misery.
“These things are afraid of fire! Those who cultivate the power of fire, attack!”
Another cultivator brought out a magic treasure to capture one of the Deepsea Spectres. “Ha ha ha! I managed to capture a Deepsea Spectre. Although they are terrifying, they are also treasures. They’re supplementary items that could be used for concocting medicinal pills or forging magic treasures!”
Under normal circumstances, the average Deepsea Spectre was worth as much as a mid-grade Sacred artefact, perhaps higher.
However, even though there were cultivators who would continuously kill off the Deepsea Spectres, more and more Deepsea Spectres entered the colossal ship and the number of casualties kept rising.
Moreover, there was still a high number of water yaos attacking the barrier around the ship. As the number of water yaos continued to increase, the barrier began cracking.
Sou!
A beam of sword light charged out, flying about in various directions. Everywhere it went, water yaos would be killed off. Next, a peak-level Human Immortal appeared outside the barrier. With a beckoning move, a sword flew into his grip. After that, he bellowed and charged forward only to be quickly swarmed by the water yaos.
“That’s a cultivator from Seacloud Trade Association. A peak-level Human Immortal, Wang Feng.”
Sou! Sou! Sou!
Several more cultivators charged out from the barrier to kill the water yaos.
Boom!
The colossal ship shook as a thick pillar of light swept forward, evaporating every water yao in its path.
“They’ve activated the magic arrays of the ship. The pillar of light is formed by the power of Extreme Yang. It can burn even the void.”
The pillar of light swept back and forth and over 100 of the titanic water yaos were killed off in an instant.
However, the pillar of light only lasted for a brief moment before disappearing. Although it was only a brief moment, it had used up a great deal of energy. Prolonged usage of the attack was impossible.
Rumble! Rumble!
The colossal ship sped up. However, after advancing through a distance of several thousand li, it slowed down again. The number of water yaos around it had grown once more. It had to be said, the distant ocean region was a somewhat special place. The sky above it was filled with strong lightning powers that contained the power of destruction. They were strong enough to even destroy Dao artefacts. This was why the cultivators had chosen to ride the colossal ship and travel through the ocean.
At that very moment, the Deepsea Spectres were the biggest issue. If it weren’t for the Deepsea Spectres, the cultivators there would have no problems joining forces to kill their way out from the encirclement.
The Deepsea Spectres wreaked havoc upon the interior of the colossal ship while constantly possessing the cultivators there. As time went by, the advancing ship would probably come to a halt.
Sou!
A black silhouette emerged from the floor. Next, it charged towards Chen Feng with lightning-like speed.
“Careful!” Sun Ming shouted.
However, the moment the black silhouette approached Chen Feng, its speed faltered. It had entered Chen Feng’s domain. Grasping, Chen Feng then captured the black silhouette.
“So, this is a Deepsea Spectre!” Another cultivator named Ma Heng grew curious. This was his first time seeing a Deepsea Spectre.
A perfunctory glance would give one the impression that the black silhouette was composed entirely of energy. However, a detailed look revealed the body within the silhouette. Only, this body was constantly wriggling, like a deep-sea gelatinous creature.
The power of water and shadows. However, it feels like there is another unique power as well. Chen Feng held the Deepsea Spectre tightly. No matter how hard the Deepsea Spectre struggled, it could not extricate itself from Chen Feng’s grip.
I’ll keep it first. I can study it properly when there’s time. Chen Feng waved his hand, collecting the Deepsea Spectre.
“Although the Deepsea Spectre is very dangerous, it is also very valuable. Many people would pay handsomely for them,” said Sun Ming, who was beside him.

Office Days
Follow Captain Monday and the Weekdays team as they fight the good fight against the villainous Weekends. Oh, and file form a33-2 before eoq3. Comes with a dash of The Office and Office Space plus a side of Super Hero satire. Office Days is episodic in nature. So each story is standalone and may vary in length and focus. The Monday Case is the first episode and serves mostly to introduce the characters broadly. Comments get +Rep for effort. This setting was intended to be a comic series but I never found an artist for the job... probably for lack of trying. The "art" is for concept only... it took me far too long to make and it's still all sub-par.

Written by two authors, this novel covers the tale of a pair of protagonists in a wuxia world. Oh, and maybe an isekai or two. Our goal with this project is to make an engaging and entertaining story, while making a good attempt at a somewhat realistic wuxia setting. We’re aware of the oxymoron…
