《Everlasting》Chapter 816 Layer of Ice

“Humph! Whoever wants to leave can leave. I don’t believe there are any dangers.”
“Did Chen Feng exaggerate the issue?”
Although Chen Feng had rescued them earlier, they were all geniuses, dragons amongst men. Every one of them had hidden cards that they had yet to reveal. Thus, even if what Chen Feng told them was true, they would not choose to leave.
Lan Ling sighed.
Chen Feng, who was already some distance away from them, sighed as well. However, he did not say anything. At any rate, his relationship with them was limited. They were not yet at the level where they can entrust each other with their own lives.
“I can only do my best. Hopefully, the danger will come at me instead,” Chen Feng said, this aura becoming even more violent as his fighting spirit swelled skywards, transforming into a stream of energy that refused to dissipate away. It was such that even those that were 5,000 kilometres away would be able to sense it.
Chen Feng moved swiftly, flying non-stop through the skies above Planet Voidsoul. After every 500 kilometres, he would descend to the ground and gallop forward for a moment. The few yao beasts he encountered would be pummelled down as countless trees were destroyed and even mountains were levelled in his wake.
Chen Feng put his ferocity on full display. Thankfully, Lan Ling and the others were not there to see it, otherwise they would become shocked yet again.
One whole day went by, but nothing happened. Although Chen Feng found it peculiar, deep inside, his heart felt even more anxious. By utilizing the Sensor Talisman, Chen Feng could tell that Lan Ling and the others had yet to leave. He then revealed a self-deprecating smile. “Heh, even now, nothing is happening. Maybe they are laughing at me now.”
However, if an Ascendant Immortal and a Barbarian Deity with an unknown level of strength decide to duke it out, they would shake the entire planet. Rather, they might even end up destroying it. Then, the passageway would be destroyed and there would be no way to return to Eternal World anymore. In the end, we would have to drift about in the endless space.
But I cannot leave this planet yet. According to the prediction technique I used back then, this trip will net me a great harvest. However, I see no signs of any such harvest. Was I mistaken? Chen Feng pondered.
The prediction technique was something that Chen Feng had recently found amongst the techniques recorded within the Longevity Scripture. After spending sometime practicing it, Chen Feng had managed to make some inroads into the technique. Upon entering Planet Voidsoul, Chen Feng had secretly performed the prediction technique and was able to faintly sense that he would be able to gain something in this trip. However, he was in the dark about the details.
Forget it, staying on guard all the time would only put me in a mentally exhausted state. I should find a place to relax. Besides, if the danger truly comes, I would be unable to avoid it. After that, Chen Feng’s figure flew down in a straight line.
Hu! Hu! Hu! Hu! Hu! Hu!
Chen Feng landed upon a field of ice. The ground beneath his feet was as smooth as a mirror. Peering far ahead, all he saw was an eye-piercing expanse of white. He was actually incapable of seeing the edge of this ice field.

Huh, the temperature here is simply insane. Ordinary humans aside, even cultivators at the Concealed stage would be frozen to death here. No wonder only Human Immortals may explore this planet. With such dangerous places, any lapse in attention would end with death. Next, Chen Feng fired out a stream of quaking energy downwards, breaking into the layer of ice beneath his feet.
Kacha! Kacha! Kacha! Kacha!
A series of bursting sound rang out as countless cracks spread out into his surroundings. Chen Feng continued to send yet another stream of power down. This time, he had utilized the Volcanic Power move. The compressed power abruptly charged down and the layer of ice within a radius of 100 metres was instantly shattered. The shockwaves quaked the ice shards into powdery bits. Next, Chen Feng waved his hand and a deep hole – tens of metres in size – appeared beneath him. Strands of icy energy flowed out from the hole to condense into icicles.
Sou!
After entering the hole, Chen Feng sensed his surroundings slightly. “Incredible. The temperature here is much lower when compared to the outside temperature. However, how thick is this layer of ice? Judging by the rate at which the temperature is dropping, if it’s deep enough, even a Human Immortal would be frozen to death.”
Chen Feng flicked to fire a spiralling energy blast downwards, drilling through the layer of ice again. After drilling through tens of metres, it disappeared.
The durability of the ice here is even stronger than Mystic Iron. Although this place is covered with ice, it is quite a good place for cultivation. Even though the temperature there could freeze cultivators to death, it was nothing for Chen Feng. His fleshly body was strong enough to resist the cold there. Thus, there was no need for him to resort to his techniques for it.
Sou!
Chen Feng opened his mouth and inhaled sharply. As a result, the surrounding power of ice came together to form a hurricane, which then spun into Chen Feng’s mouth. The whole process lasted for one whole hour and it seemed as though Chen Feng’s mouth had become a bottomless pit.
Then, Chen Feng blew and the energy stream he fired out assailed the layer of ice beneath him like a sword. Like the undercurrent within the ocean, the energy stream surged vigorously with a high level of power. This attack from Chen Feng lasted for one hour, carving its way several hundred metres into the layer of ice.
Next, Chen Feng inhaled and exhaled again. As time went by, the hole beneath him grew deeper and bigger.
The technique that Chen Feng was displaying for his cultivation session was only a very ordinary breath-regulating technique. However, due to his formidable cultivation base and mighty fleshly body, every breath he inhaled and exhaled was as vast as the ocean. In the face of Chen Feng’s breath attack, even Mystic Stoutsteel would easily be pierced through.
The strength behind the breath attack represented the might within Chen Feng’s fleshly body and his immense potential.
This cultivation session lasted for several days. As Chen Feng regulated his breath, he also channelled the Secret Domain Circulation technique. Surprisingly, hot air was produced as well, spreading out in waves from his body. It was as though a volcano had suddenly emerged from the layer of ice. Due to that, the surrounding ice was turned into water, which flowed around before getting evaporated. The resulting water vapour then surged out from the hole to create a column of smoke that rose several thousand metres up into the sky.

“Ten days have passed and the sense of crisis has disappeared. How strange.” Chen Feng felt puzzled. Next, he brought out the Sensor Talisman and was shocked to notice that the Sensor Talisman was no longer working. He could no longer contact Lan Ling and the others.
The power here has affected the Sensor Talisman. Chen Feng’s heart thumped and he brought out the Thousand Seeker Mirror next. He channelled his soul power into the Thousand Seeker Mirror, activating it to scan his surroundings.
By then, the Thousand Seeker Mirror was already a grade 4 Sacred artefact. Although that was nothing special when compared to the rest of the magic treasures in Chen Feng’s possession, its tracking and scanning abilities were still good.
As expected, even the Thousand Seeker Mirror was affected by a strange power. Seeing that, Chen Feng increased the amount of soul power he sent into the mirror and the surface of the Thousand Seeker Mirror began shining with light. Finally, Chen Feng was able to find something.
A pity, this Thousand Seeker Mirror’s grade is still too low. Even though I have been refining it with the Longevity Weapons Condensation Technique, its core essence is not good enough. Next up, I will have to find some materials to add to it.
It’s this way. I want to see just what is it. Next, Chen Feng employed the power of water and channelled the power of ice within his body, causing his figure to meld into the layer of ice.
He walked through the solid layer of ice akin to one walking on the ground. This was a type of earthslip technique.
Although Chen Feng was in the midst of moving through the ice, every pore on his body was open as he kept taking in the surrounding power of ice using a regulating technique. He was continuing with his cultivation practice even as he moved forward.
Kacha!
Suddenly, a crack appeared upon the Thousand Seeker Mirror. Noticing that, Chen Feng kept it. By then, Chen Feng could already sense an unusual power there despite not using the Thousand Seeker Mirror.
Activating his Magic Eyes of Darkness, Chen Feng’s gaze was able to make it past the thick layer of ice. Finally, he saw a small palace encased completely in ice.
Eh, it’s a palace? To think that there would be a palace here. How strange. Is this one of the grotto-mansions belonging to the old man from the Skyfire Clan? However, someone like him would probably not hide his grotto-mansion in a place filled with ice.
The ice around Chen Feng was no longer similar to the previous layer. The density of the ice there had reached an unimaginable level while the coldness was at a level that Chen Feng’s fleshly body alone was incapable of resisting. Strands of the power of fire sprayed out from his pores, transforming Chen Feng into a furnace-like human to stave off the intense cold around him.
In the end, restrictive arrays appeared before him. Layer after layer of semi-transparent lines and countless runes flashed within the ice there. After just a minor inspection of the restrictive arrays, Chen Feng became certain that the restrictive arrays were not laid out by the old man.
It should also be the work of an Ascendant Immortal. However, the restrictive arrays are much stronger than the one the old man laid out for his grotto-mansions. Looks like this is the work of a formidable Ascendant Immortal.
“Tower, looks like my luck is still very good. I’ve managed to obtain quite the harvest this time around. Additionally, it is also quite the big harvest. This palace should at least be an Immortal artefact, no?” Chen Feng said smilingly.
“It’s probably not that simple. You’ll have to check it out first.”
“Easier said than done. Those are restrictive arrays that an Ascendant Immortal set up. I am now just a Human Immortal.”
The way Chen Feng conversed with Tower had begun returning to normal.
“If you are destined for it, you would be able to approach it even in the Human Immortal stage.”
“Sigh! What a load of bull!” After saying that, Chen Feng then brought out the Heaven Piercing Lance to break the restrictive arrays.
“Do not be reckless! Be sure to observe carefully. These restrictive arrays are not the type that you can randomly destroy. If you are not careful, you might trigger a backlash. Additionally, I am presently not strong enough. If the palace decides to fly away, you would have no way to chase it.”
“What else can I do? Still, I have broken through many restrictive arrays before. I suppose that makes me something of an experienced fellow in that area,” said Chen Feng, who then thrust forward with the lance in his hand, shattering several runes apart.
It was effective. And yet, Chen Feng merely frowned. The weapon he was using was an Immortal artefact. It was something powerful enough to destroy even a planet. And yet, that attack he unleashed earlier had only managed to shatter a few runes. If that was the case, how long would it take for him to break all of the runes here? By Chen Feng’s estimate, not even one year was enough for that. Additionally, there was no telling what would happen in between.
“You fool! Look at your surroundings. This place contains the power of ice. Don’t you have two Abyssal Ice Orbs on you?” Tower then reminded him.
“That’s right! How did I forget about that?” Chen Feng slapped his forehead and reflexively revealed a wry smile.
Chen Feng then brought out an Abyssal Ice Orb, which instantly absorbed the power of ice from the surrounding layer of ice at a furious rate. The Abyssal Ice Orb was a high-grade Dao artefact, innately in possession of ice-type grand dao power. Thus, in just the blink of an eye, the power of ice within a radius of several li was utterly devoured, causing the ice there to dissolve and break down. Soon enough, a large space had appeared before Chen Feng. Additionally, that space continued growing bigger.
1 li = 0.5 km

The Last Death Mage
Since time immemorial humanity has always feared and shunned what it didn’t understand. Over time this changed a bit to encompass things that didn’t conform to their thoughts and ideals. Due to humanity’s stubbornness with which the enforced their ideals many lives were lost and changed. When humanity first clashed with monsters and the beings that use magic, this trait caused many bloody fights. Over time the fights escalated into battles and full on war on several occasions. Humanity due to their adaptability and persistence won many of these altercations, causing huge casualties to the magical beings. Humanity did not come out unscathed however; many of the empires and civilizations noted in human history fell due to these battles and wars. Eventually over time humanity and the magical beings came to a sort of agreement. Magic and the beings associated with it faded into the background of history, being relegated to myth and legend. Humanity meanwhile advanced leaps and bounds once magic faded, leading to our current level of civilization. Not all magical beings were content with this, thus they did their own actions and killed or fed on humans. This has led to many organizations to be formed concerning this, on both the side of humanity and the side of magical beings. They regulate and control the use of magic as well as protect humanity from the darker things that are now not but myth to them, but there is a reason humanity instinctually fears the dark. Unfortunately there are always those that are unsatisfied by the status quo, and those that are prejudiced against things that are different. This is a story of a young man who wanted nothing more than to be normal. Unfortunately Fate and the world he lives in do not easily allow that this, thus his life changed, not for the better. Everyone has heard of or read stories about monsters and legends, heroes and villains, this is one such story. Hi, this is my second attempt at a story here, the first was before the major overhaul happened and i lost everything related to that story due to PC troubles. I hope you enjoy this if you dont please leave some constructive criticism in the comments. An Editor and the like will be needed, but I will edit as problems are pointed out and as i proof read. This story will have no set schedule, unless of course I decide to type up a bunch in succession then i will note that in a chapter beforehand. ADDED NOTE: most sexual content will be in Interludes or sub chapters with a .5 attached. Profanity and gore however shall be plenty in the actual story, though the descriptives for the gore may be added later. (For example, in the prologue that gave a hint at what happened to the MC, will be enhanced so that the gore invokes more descriptive/complete mental pictures, though it may wait.) ~Tyroth Gideon
