《Everlasting》Chapter 807 Soaring Starsoul Dragon

Since meeting Chen Feng in East Dragon Island, Hu Xian’er had already shown an interest in Chen Feng. And now, Chen Feng’s aura had become even more fleeting and his cultivation base more formidable. For Hu Xian’er, this simply made Chen Feng even more attractive. In her opinion, Chen Feng was much stronger compared to the many elite students of Absolute Academy.
The path of cultivation was long and endless. Every cultivator had to endure the coldness of solitude. If they could find a suitable companion for their path, it would undoubtedly make their life more colourful. More importantly, they would be able to find a formidable companion to serve as a reliable supporter.
Every cultivator who could enter the Four Great Holylands was a world-shaking talent, possessing a lofty mindset that looked down on every cultivator in the world. Hu Xian’er was no exception. Although there were many male cultivators from Absolute Academy who confessed to liking her, both openly and secretly, none of them caught Hu Xian’er’s attention.
Ever since meeting Chen Feng, however, Hu Xian’er had a feeling that this was her ideal partner. Formidable strength, astonishing potential and an inexplicable charm.
Due to that, Hu Xian’er wanted to grab the opportunity. However, seeing the look of indifference on Chen Feng’s face, Hu Xian’er felt somewhat disappointed.
“I had inadvertently noticed it,” Chen Feng replied with a faint smile. Naturally, Chen Feng could see Hu Xian’er’s intentions. Rather, even an idiot would be able to see it.
Speaking of which, Hu Xian’er was indeed an outstanding female cultivator. She was beautiful, possessing a voluptuous body and a formidable cultivation base. She was the dream lover of countless male cultivators. Chen Feng himself had to admit that she was a very charming woman. And yet, Chen Feng could not feel anything for her.
Planet Voidsoul was an independent life-bearing planet. Although the worldly laws of this planet were different from the worldly laws of Eternal World, they were all Human Immortals that had cultivated immortal dao laws. Due to that, the difference in worldly laws could not affect them by much.
The factors that affected them the most were the savage monsters and harsh environment.
What they were facing at the moment was one such example. Earlier, they had entered a massive volcano to search for fire-type spirit stones. They had only just gotten some harvest when they encountered a group of fire-type yao beasts. There were over 100 fire-type yao beasts, all at the Yao King (Human) stage. Thus, after a short battle, Chen Feng’s team had to flee.
“Planet Voidsoul is truly special. No wonder many cultivators would come here for an adventure.” Chen Feng held a circular yao core in his hand. The yao core brimmed with the power of fire. It was something he had obtained by killing the fire-type yao beasts earlier. It was a good item for cultivation and Chen Feng managed to get a few of them. Only, he used them all to feed the Ancient Flame Beetle.
However, the Ancient Flame Beetle had already advanced to the starter-level Earthen Immortal stage. Thus, the power of fire within the yao cores could only fill the gaps between its teeth. They were incapable of doing much for its cultivation base.
Naturally, if Chen Feng had released the Ancient Flame Beetle earlier, he could have defeated all of the fire-type yao beasts. He did not do that. Firstly, he did not want to reveal his hidden cards so casually. Secondly, Chen Feng could faintly sense an even stronger existence deep within the volcano.

A Yao Immortal.
Chen Feng’s perception was astonishingly formidable and he was able to sense the aura of a Yao Immortal coming from the very depths of the earth. Although he was not afraid of the Yao Immortal, he was not alone here. Given how many of them there were, the need to face a Yao Immortal right from the start would likely be unfavourable for them.
“Unexpectedly, we would be able to gain some harvest right from the start. Unfortunately, there are too many yao beasts there,” Chen Xing’er said with a somewhat joyful tone.
As they were not as rich as Chen Feng, obtaining a few yao cores from Yao Kings was already a considerable harvest for them.
“There is a fight going on in the distance! There are people fighting there.”
“Let’s go check it out.”
The six of them did not hesitate. They instantly changed their advance trajectory and rushed forward. In the beginning, Chen Feng had wanted to stop them, but he decided against it in the end.
He could sense something different about the battle up ahead. There were energy fluctuations from grand dao laws emanating out from the place. That was proof that there were formidable characters there.
“The students from Heavensight Academy are besieging a high-level Yao King.”
Ten plus Human Immortals had surrounded a yao beast. The yao beast looked like a wyrm, but not quite a wyrm; a dragon, but not quite a dragon. After getting a closer look, Chen Feng realized that it was actually a peak-level Yao King. It possessed a massive body and unpredictable techniques, sucking in the clouds with each inhalation and releasing mists with each exhalation, causing its surroundings to change drastically. Strands of grand dao powers flowed around its body.
Shockingly, the Yao King had already begun to comprehend grand dao powers and was in the process of transforming into a Yao Immortal.
Despite the extraordinary savagery of the Yao King, it was constantly getting wounded. On the Heavensight Academy’s side, the strongest cultivator was only at the mid-level Human Immortal stage. However, the power that the cultivator could unleash was comparable to that of the average high-level Human Immortal. Additionally, most of the students from Heavensight Academy also possessed spiritual roots. Add the high-grade magic treasures that some of them possessed and their coordinated attacks, killing off a peak-level Yao King would not be an issue for them.
“What do we do? Do we disrupt them?” Hu Xian’er was the first to speak up.
The Four Great Holylands were on equal footing. However, the competition between them was very intense. Sometimes, the competition between them would surpass even that of the other sects.
However, this competition also gave them a very big benefit. Due to the intense competition, the strength of the Four Great Holylands kept rising higher and higher to give birth to an increasingly high number of experts.
Feng Jian contemplated the matter for a moment before saying, “Let’s wait for a moment. We’ll consider it again after they are done.”
By then, the students from Heavensight Academy had already noticed the arrival of Lan Ling’s group. They panicked and the attacks they displayed grew even more violent. Due to that, the Yao King ended up suffering even more. Several times, it had nearly died to their attacks.
Boom!
In desperation, the Yao King burned its essence, energy and soul power to display a power that was several times stronger than usual. Due to that, it managed to smash out an opening. Next, it changed its body shape and charged out.

However, it would seem that the Yao King had become confused. The direction it took to flee was taking it right towards Chen Feng and the others.
“Attack!”
Tie Yuan and Feng Jian attacked at the same time, killing off the Yao King in just two to three moves before quickly collecting the Yao King’s corpse.
“What! Hand it over!”
“Hand over the Soaring Starsoul Dragon!”
Every one of the students from Heavensight Academy bellowed and they charged forward to surround Chen Feng and the others. Their faces were filled with hostility.
Don’t joke around. They had fought a hard battle to kill off the Yao King only to have students from Absolute Academy reap the rewards in the end. How could they accept that?
“I advise you fellows to just hand it over and we can forget what happened today,” one of the cultivators from Heavensight Academy, clad in blue combat attire, spoke.
Although those on Heavensight Academy’s side occupied the numerical advantage, the earlier fight had exhausted some of their strength. While it seemed that they would win in a fight against those from Absolute Academy, the fight would surely inflict some casualties upon them. That was not something they wished for. Thus, it would be for the best if they could settle the issue peacefully.
“What a joke! We were the ones who killed off the Soaring Starsoul Dragon.” Tie Yuan laughed.
“Nonsense! We were the ones who besieged it!” The cultivators from Heavensight Academy grew furious.
“It died in our hands!” Tie Yuan refused to give way.
“Looks like an agreement is not possible. In that case, we’ll have to fight it out. You fellows should reconsider. If we start a fight, you fellows will all die!”
“Do you have what it takes? Kill us? At least half of the people on your side will die in the end!”
“Our Heavensight Academy is not afraid of anything! And most definitely not you fellows from Absolute Academy! Attack, kill them all!”
“Let’s run!”
Tie Yuan shouted. He did not fight them. Instead, he took the lead to run away. Feng Jian and the others followed suit. Seeing what they were doing, Chen Feng burst into a smile.
“You think you can run?”
The ten plus students from Heavensight Academy grew highly infuriated and all of them quickly ran after Chen Feng’s team.
“Get on the chariot and chase!”
“That’s right! They want to snatch what’s ours? They have a death wish!”
Promptly, the students from Heavensight Academy brought out three magnificent-looking chariots, allowing them to chase at an even greater speed. Their advance left shockwaves in the air.
“This is bad! They actually have chariots. We miscalculated.” Tie Yuan and the others were shocked. Unexpectedly, those fellows would possess chariots. If so, they would be incapable of running away from them.
“Forget it. Why don’t we return it to them?”
“Sigh, it’s not that simple. Even if we return it to them, they will not let us off.”
“I’ll guard the rear. You fellows, run quickly!” said Feng Jian, who quickly turned around and pushed both hands forward. Winds rose up to form a wall of wind, which then assailed their pursuers.
Boom!
The chariots smashed against the wall of wind, but they were seemingly capable of smashing through everything in their path. The wall of wind that Feng Jian sent out was instantly shattered and one of the chariots galloped furiously towards Feng Jian. If the chariot were to collide against Feng Jian, it would certainly smash his body to pieces.
Shua!
Chen Feng flashed forward, grabbing Feng Jian to rescue him from danger.
“Huh! That scared the hell out of me! To think that they would be riding top-grade Sacred-tier chariots. We’ll be incapable of running now,” Feng Jian said, a lingering note of fear in his voice.
Sou! Sou! Sou!
It was then that another chariot charged towards Chen Feng and Feng Jian. The other two chariots went after Lan Ling and the others.
“Don’t worry!” Chen Feng displayed the Kirin Steps and his entire being seemingly became one with the void. With every step he took, his figure would appear elsewhere. It was a speed surpassing that of the chariot.
“So fast!” Feng Jian, who was still in Chen Feng’s grasp, looked on with widened eyes. As for the students from Heavensight Academy who were riding the chariot, they gaped.
He’s even faster than the chariot. Is he even human? Since when did such a monster appear in Absolute Academy?
Great Longevity Palm.
Boom!
With a palm attack, Chen Feng sent the chariot flying. Although it did not manage to destroy the chariot, it did throw the students into a tumbling bout of dizziness.
Boom!
Boom!
Two more Great Longevity Palms were sent out and the other two chariots were sent flying as well.
“Sii!”
Feng Jian inhaled sharply. Chen Feng’s moves were simply too monstrous.
“Let's go!”
Chen Feng did not go after the students from Heavensight Academy. Instead, he brought Feng Jian with him as he ran after Lan Ling and the others.
“They should not be coming after us anymore, right?” Lan Ling breathed a sigh of relief.
“Something is not right!” Chen Feng’s face turned grim. He could sense a formidable aura rising from behind them.
“Eh, they’re chasing us again! They really don’t know the meaning of death! Senior Brother Chen, attack and kill them!” Hu Xian’er cried.
“Something isn’t right. They are running for their lives,” Feng Jian said grimly.
The students from Heavensight Academy gave it their all to empower their chariots and they charged madly forward, rushing towards Chen Feng’s team. It looked as though they had gone mad.
“It doesn’t look like they are after us,” Chen Xing’er said with a puzzled tone.
Kacha!
A distant spot in space suddenly cracked and a yao beast, over 500 kilometres in size, emerged from the void. Next, it released a bellow. That one bellow caused the minds of every living being within a radius of tens of thousands of li to shake violently and fall into a state of haziness, losing control over their own bodies. As the students from Heavensight Academy were closer to it, they ended up bleeding from their seven orifices. It was a terribly wretched sight to behold.
1 li = 0.5 km

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?
