The Shard Legacy

Although riddled with monsters, and with threats from The Great 13, it is still a place with much wonder and exciitement. And yet, the dangers that they face also cannot be ignored. And perhaps because of that, a certain someone has taken action. After a terrible bus accident on Earth, a class of twenty students and their teacher are reincarnated into the world of Shara. Given new lives and a bit of special power, they will end up awakening in this world through unexpected ways. And they will have to fight the darkness that threatens them all. But also, in this world where they do not all agree with each other, with different ideologies, it is not just the approaching darkness that they will have to fight...but they will need to deal with each other as well as the factions form. The faction formed by the popular Class President, who wants them all to become the heroic shield, selflessly devoting themselves to protect everyone at all times and disturbing the culture and nature of this world as little as possible. The faction formed by the ambitious top student in the class, which believes by unifying the world under the rule of him and other reincarnators, they can live luxuriously while also leading the world to prosperity. The faction formed by the loyal and determined teacher, who will do everything in her power to take every single one of them back home to their world, no matter what, and abandon this world. And then, the fourth faction...led by the boy who would come to be known as Rikuo. Whose journey throughout this world will shape him, change him, and as a result, make him choose the most chaotic option of all. This is their story. The Great Battle has begun. But in the end, who will win? What will the goal of the fourth faction even be? And how will these desires end up shaping the world? The fight is on. Anu dreamed of escaping the mining town, running away to the city of Verse. With no skill for the sword, and absolutely no talent in magic, she set about learning to forge magical circuits. The one thing she could do that would get her into the Academy. She was crushed to learn that it wasn’t enough. Without money, or connections, she would need to find a loop-hole in the entrance examinations, or worse, spend another four years trapped in the mountains. After scouring the regulations, she’d found a way to leave: she would have to contract a beast. Anu hadn’t much mana to offer, but with no other options she stormed into the forest nearby, hoping to contract a beast.

Planet Earth, Monday, October 7th, 2019. 18:30 * * On a fateful day, during rush hour in eastern North America, Heavens and Hell crumbled and fell from their higher dimension on Earth. It came from "above" but not the same above we regard in our tridimensional Euclidean reasoning. No, it came from "above" as in from a higher dimension. Bits and pieces of those places fell on Earth from all directions, this time in tridimensional Euclidean space. Satellites, the ISS, and space debris all were wiped clean from orbit. Even those that didn't crash with the falling debris were knocked off orbit by the shockwaves. On the ground, power distribution lines were disrupted and most power facilities were left abandoned by their dead staff. Most of these had emergency shutdown routines that engaged in a few days. Some others had a survivor among their staff that followed protocol and activated their SCRAM switches, stopping the power plant. Long-distance communication disappeared the internet along with it. The world was plunged into technological darkness. Nine hundred and ninety-nine out of every thousand human beings perished immediately in the pulse of magical energy from the torn spatial boundary. Spirits were rent asunder and vanished, their fate neither salvation nor damnation, only oblivion. The criteria used for this culling was latent magic potential. It didn't discriminate against education, gender, age, or ethnic group. But of the around seven million survivors, most would meet their doom moments later. Those on moving vehicles, like the ones driving on highways suddenly had to contend with high-speed uncontrolled cars and trucks driven by corpses. Trapped in their vehicles and helpless, they became part of the long snake of crushed metal. Very few survived. Those in the air or out in the sea were alone and probably unable to control their rides. Airplanes crashed, and ships kept their course or drifted away, depending on their autopilot. Several ended their own lives in utter despair after seeing their loved ones die in front of them. Another large group would die at the hands of other survivors. Violence and aggression became the norm. Only a few sparse pockets of not-so-sane survivors managed to band together and cooperate for the sake of mutual survival. The sole survivor in a five-over-one apartment building in Georgia, a girl became the keystone to humanity's survival. Sara's fabulous System Apocalypse had just started. She has only one remark.
