《I Am Overlord》Chapter 995: Defeat?

As far as Xiang Shaoyun was concerned, the Cosmos Dao Destroying Fist was the best technique to display the primal inception energy's might. When he threw his fist out, it was as though heaven and earth were overturned and stars were exploded. This was a fist that seemed unblockable.
Dugu Qiubai grew incomparably excited as all five stars stirred and pumped out the primal chaos energy that he used to throw a punch at Xiang Shaoyun.
Primal Chaos Fist!
Two clumps of radiance burst out, one was nine-colored while the other was five-colored, and they collided.
Xiang Shaoyun and Dugu Qiubai instantly exchanged over 100 punches, multicolored shockwaves spreading in all directions. It presented a dazzling sight as though numerous fireworks were blooming.
Xiang Shaoyun only used the Cosmos Dao Destroying Fist and nothing else, while Dugu Qiubai only used his Primal Chaos Fist. After a series of intense exchanges, Xiang Shaoyun finally displayed the might of his nine-star physique and forced Dugu Qiubai onto his back foot.
The onlookers gasped in astonishment.
"The decisive battle has finally arrived. What terrifying strength!"
"That Xiang Shaoyun has really fused the nine powers! That is inconceivable! Does this not mean that more of such top-tier physiques will appear in the future?"
"It won't be that simple. The many ancient organizations had tried countless times to accomplish the same, but all of them had failed. This is most definitely a dead end. Perhaps Xiang Shaoyun had merely gotten lucky. It won't be too late to wait until he reaches the Sovereign Realm first before we make any conclusions."
"This is most definitely a legendary battle between the two strongest physiques. We will soon know which of the two is superior. I can't wait."
"Boss, beat him so badly even his mom won't recognize him! My boss is the best!" Xia Liuhui started shouting.

Xia Liuhui had originally thought that the gap between him and Xiang Shaoyun wouldn't be that big. But now, he found that Xiang Shaoyun was indeed worthy of being his boss. The gap between them was as large as ever, and his admiration toward Xiang Shaoyun deepened.
The Overlord Legion members hoped to see Xiang Shaoyun win, and they all stared at the battlefield anxiously. Xiang Shaoyun originally believed that he could easily suppress Dugu Qiubai using the primal inception energy, but in the final round, he found that it wasn't so easy.
The primal inception energy was boundlessly mighty, but he kept having a feeling that something was missing, causing him to be unable to fully unleash the energy's might. Because of that, he was unable to fully defeat Dugu Qiubai.
On the contrary, Dugu Qiubai had long awakened his primal chaos energy and was extremely proficient with it. Thus, he was able to fully unleash the energy's might, and the two were actually quite evenly matched. They fought in close quarters, exchanging punch after punch, fighting without holding back. The battle was incredibly intense.
A punch landed on Xiang Shaoyun's face, a kick landed on Dugu Qiubai's abdomen, and it continued on and on. Both of them were extremely powerful, and both of them were having an unpleasant time. Even so, they persevered with the pain and kept on fighting. It was clear just how tough their bodies were.
Xiang Shaoyun made use of his speed advantage and constantly shifted his position, bombarding Dugu Qiubai from all directions. On the other hand, Dugu Qiubai stayed steady and unmoving like a mountain. He adopted a reactive stance to deal with whatever came his way, defending while attacking at the same time.
Both were able to injure the other numerous times, and blood was spraying everywhere. Even their bones could be seen, presenting the sight of a brutal battle. However, they still fought on even with their badly injured bodies, causing the onlookers to gasp in amazement.

As the two fought, they constantly used numerous different healing methods to recover as fast as possible. One could say that they were fighting while healing. Nobody would know who was stronger before the battle ended.
As a whole, Xiang Shaoyun was leading slightly in this round. After all, he was faster than Dugu Qiubai. However, as the battle dragged on, he realized that things weren't looking so bright for him because his supply of primal inception energy was reducing rapidly.
After absorbing the origin energies in the coffin, he had increased the amount of his primal inception energy, which was how he had been able to last so long in the battle. However, he had failed to defeat Dugu Qiubai speedily. His weakness was on the verge of getting exposed, and he would most likely be the one defeated if this continued.
Xiang Shaoyun was unwilling to be defeated just like this. It would not only be a great blow to him, but it would also harm his master's reputation.
Dugu Qiubai was also exhausting his energy at a rapid rate, but he found that Xiang Shaoyun's rate of exhaustion was even higher. Inwardly, he thought, He won't last long. I will be the victor!
He took out a five-colored fan. It was a feather fan made of rare feathers of the five elements, the Primal Chaos Fan. It was a weapon that could help him fully unleash the might of his primal chaos energy.
Unfortunately, the Primal Chaos Fan wasn't made of primal divine stones, so it was merely a second-tier weapon. Even so, it was good enough for Dugu Qiubai's current needs. He swung the fan at Xiang Shaoyun, sending a wave of primal chaos energy crashing at Xiang Shaoyun.
At this point, Xiang Shaoyun's reaction time had slowed considerably. Dugu Qiubai's weapon also caught him by surprise. He wasn't able to avoid the attack and was struck head on. He spewed a large amount of blood, and his bones were deformed. Even his inner organs were on the verge of bursting apart. Signs of his defeat were starting to show.
The hearts of Xia Liuhui and the Overlord Legion members raced, worried that Xiang Shaoyun would die just like that.
"Time for your defeat!" Dugu Qiubai roared and pressed on.
He swung his Primal Chaos Fan once again, and a massive amount of energy rushed over like a churning ocean.
Xiang Shaoyun could feel that he was slowly losing control over his body, and he couldn't avoid the incoming attack. His only option was to use the primal inception energy and withstand it head on.
Xiang Shaoyun was sent flying away, and his injuries worsened. He could no longer hold on.
Am I about to be defeated? No, I can't! I must be the champion! Xiang Shaoyun roared inwardly and used a large amount of spring water. His body started healing, and he used the powers of yin and yang once again to protect himself, avoiding being killed by Dugu Qiubai.
"Xiang Shaoyun, stop struggling. Just surrender, or you'll die," Dugu Qiubai demanded as he swung his fan continuously.
Xiang Shaoyun did not reply. His Light of Wisdom blinked rapidly as he tried thinking of a way to turn defeat into victory. In his current condition, if he used the Nether Soul Domain or his soul clone, he would definitely win. However, he was unwilling to win in such a manner. He wanted to defeat Dugu Qiubai fair and square.
Suddenly, inspiration hit him, giving him a glimpse of victory.

The Laptop Hero (Portal/Isekai LitRPG)
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - April 2022 Silas got summoned to another world—by a group of kids attending magic school who seemed rather unhappy with the results of their ritual. After a brief glimpse of his summoners Silas woke in the town dump. Unable to speak the local language, a misunderstanding escalated and before long Silas wound up in a jail cell, the locals having confiscated all his worldly possessions aside from his laptop, which had formed some strange bond with him. Now he can summon his laptop at will, and he can view his Status, level up, and gain powerful skills and magic as if he were some character in a video game, which is great and everything, but all Silas really wants to do is sit in a dark room and play games on his laptop. Only, life isn't a game, and Silas needs to get his act together because everyone else is playing for keeps. Or does he? Maybe for Silas life is just one big game now, with everyone else stuck playing by his rules. Assorted Disclaimers, in no particular order: I am only posting this on RoyalRoad.com, so if you find my story elsewhere it was not posted by me. Please do let me know! While I do consider this a progression fantasy, and have tagged it as such, Silas's Status improvements will not necessarily proceed in a linear fashion. His RPG stats will have ups and downs, exploits and nerfs, periods of growth and stagnation. Such is the life of a gamer, to be held under the thumb of the all powerful devs, or in this case a certain goddess devoted to the idea of Balance. SIlas himself should learn and grow, improving and progressing in areas where he struggles, or rather, to show such is my goal. The story is told from multiple points of view. While other PoVs will come and go, Silas shall remain the only lead character. The world Silas finds himself on is not a nice place. Expect him to encounter gore and traumatizing content and bad people who do bad things for selfish (or possibly noble) reasons from time to time. Some characters will use profanity, however due to cultural differences the curse words used will differ from those used in our corner of reality, so I'm not including the profanity content warning. Silas himself isn't one for foul language. No explicit sexual content here. This novel is intended for mature readers, however, and will include mature topics, including, but not limited to, sex, violence, death, and taxes. No harem. Might be an eventual romantic interest, possibly even some competitive jealousy, yet as his story begins Silas is too overwhelmed with other concerns to consider long term plans. Musophobics might want to steer clear of this story. Same goes for turophobics. You have been warned. Keep in mind, however, if my other disclaimers didn't make this clear, I only have the faintest of outlines at the moment. This story will take me where it will. My goal with this story is to write it to the end, something of a long-term writing exercise, with the hope others might take an interest in my work and encourage me to keep at it. I've started a number of works before, even finished a few, but this is the first time I've shared any work in a public forum. My temporary cover was made by me, in GIMP using public domain images. If you can do better I'll happily accept your submission and give credit for your work here!

The Dweeb Prince and the Eight Cursed Princesses
Prince, despite his name, was more of a dweeb high school student, who often spends his free time reading instead of socializing. One day, he discovered a secret section of the library, and in it was a mysterious book. Then, his careless action of opening it unleashed eight curses of the different princesses living in the book. Those curse will jinx his fellow female schoolmates so each of them would suffer a tragic end.But hope remains, in the form of a fairy called Pixie. Together, Prince and Pixie will track down each individual possessed by the curse and guide them to their story's happy conclusions instead of the tragic ones. With that, Prince will have to deal with classic fairy tales such as Snow White, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, and others in a modern setting. Note: The 'HAREM' tag doesn't mean that the MC will explicitly enter a polygamous relationship with multiple girls. The tag was added because this story involves encountering and dealing with different girls without entering the dating relationship. So yeah, this is more like the harem tag in anime rather than the harem tag explained here in RR. Releases a chapter every Sunday.
