《I Am Overlord》Chapter 715: Yin Wind Devil

"Aili...and the others...th-they're all dead!" Aikai said, and that final word seemed to have exhausted all his energy. He collapsed onto the ground. Without saying anything further, Xiang Shaoyun fed Aikai some emperor-grade spring liquid. After a short rest, Aikai finally recovered some color to his face.
"What happened exactly?" Xiang Shaoyun asked.
In truth, he did not care about the beastmen's deaths but what had happened that had caused these decently powerful beastmen to die.
"It's the yin wind devils. They have descended! They are too scary. We're not their match at all. They snatched all the yin wind grass we found, and even the yin wind stones were lost," said Aikai, fear plastered all over his face.
"Yin wind devil? How did they get here?" Xiang Shaoyun exclaimed in alarm.
The yin wind devils were a part of the devils. Like the devil wind beasts, they were wind elemental devils. Of the two, the yin wind devils were the stronger species. Generally speaking, devils would only exist within the Devil Domain. But with their appearance here, did this mean that the Devil Domain was related to this place? Or perhaps the devils had invaded the surface world again?
"It's the Yin Wind Devil Face! It was rumored that the crack at the Sinister Wind Den is a spatial crack. Behind the crack are countless treasures. Because of that, each time it appears, the beastmen and demonic beasts will try to enter. But after so many years, nobody has ever left alive. This time, even yin wind devils have appeared. They must have arrived from the Yin Wind Devil Face," said Aikai.
"In other words, the yin wind devils have never appeared before?" Xiang Shaoyun asked.
"Yes," Aikai answered.
"Where are they currently?" Xiang Shaoyun asked.

Just as Aikai was about to answer, they saw some yin wind devils flying toward them. The yin wind devils were akin to corpses without legs. They looked ugly and dreadful, their faces covered by their messy hair. Each had a pair of tentacles that swayed about incessantly, while "woo woo" sounds came from their mouths without stop. The ghostly sounds they made were incredibly eerie.
If one paid close attention, one would find that their faces looked incredibly similar to the devil face. It was clear they were of the same origin. They hovered about, and with a few flashes, they abruptly appeared behind Xiang Shaoyun and Aikai.
There were only five yin wind devils here, but wherever they appeared, a baleful aura filled their surroundings. The moment they discovered Xiang Shaoyun and Aikai, they attacked. Gusts of yin wind surged out of their mouths with an unstoppable speed.
Xiang Shaoyun might be fast, but his opponents were even faster. One of the attacks struck him, slamming him away as a gush of yin vicious energy invaded his body. This was an exact repeat of what the devil face had done earlier, with the strength of the two attacks being the only difference.
This level of attack was still something Xiang Shaoyun could withstand. When the yin wind devils were about to launch their second wave of attacks, several ghostrunes appeared before him.
These ghostrunes had grown to a rather large size. They exuded a rich devilish aura, and as they flapped their wings, a peculiar power rippled out in waves. The moment that power rippled out, the yin wind devils stopped all movement, as if they had been nailed to the ground. At the same time, their bodies swayed about as if they had gotten drunk.
The ghostrunes took the opportunity to charge over and bite the yin wind devils. The yin wind devils were completely unable to resist as the ghostrunes ate them. These ghostrunes were the ones who had survived the frost attack at the Deep Tidalwave cultivation zone. Gui Qi was among them.

After devouring some dark origin energy, they had reached late-stage Emperor Realm. Subsequently, they were nearly killed by the energy of extreme cold. Barely surviving, they swallowed the corpses of their companions, enhancing their bloodline yet again, letting them grow even stronger.
These ghostrunes were no weaker than eighth-stage Devil Emperors, and Gui Qi was now a peak Devil Emperor, only a step away from becoming a Devil Sovereign. Now, they were finally displaying the prowess of the runes on their wings.
The illusory ability of their wings could instantly send an opponent into a daze if the wings were glanced at even once. This attack had caught the yin wind devils by surprise, resulting in their deaths. One could say that this one ghostrune ability was enough to trouble many races.
Aikai had no idea how the ghostrunes had appeared, but he was filled with shock when he saw them defeating the yin wind devils so easily. At the same time, his reverence toward Xiang Shaoyun increased.
Xiang Shaoyun found that these yin wind devils did not have any yin wind grass and yin wind stones. Evidently, the other yin wind devils were keeping them.
"Heal up quickly. We will go pay these yin wind devils a visit," said Xiang Shaoyun.
"Oh, yes, yes," Aikai answered and focused on recovering.
Xiang Shaoyun took the chance to think of a way to deal with the yin wind devils. Since the yin wind devils could kill the feathered beastmen, they were definitely more of them. Perhaps they would even have a Devil Sovereign in their midst.
I'm here to comprehend the profundity of wind. Fighting the yin wind devils might assist in my comprehension, but I doubt they will come in small numbers. I won't be able to face them all, not even with the assistance of Gui Qi and the others, Xiang Shaoyun considered.
After about half a day, Aikai had recovered decently. However, he had not recovered enough to be able to fight. Xiang Shaoyun no longer relied on him. He gave him the antidote and left after learning the direction of the yin wind devils.
The ghostrunes and Money had all been kept away. He was traveling alone. Soon, he arrived at a place with lush weeds. The place was filled with chilly wind, dense baleful aura, and numerous zombies. Rocks were scattered everywhere. It was indeed an incredibly eerie spot.
The yin wind devils could be seen flying about, controlling the zombies in the area. Any beastmen and demonic beasts that approached would be attacked. When they discovered Xiang Shaoyun, they also sent a group of zombies to attack him. Instead of wasting any time with the zombies, Xiang Shaoyun flew to the sky straight toward the yin wind devils.
"Today, I shall get to know the yin wind devils," declared Xiang Shaoyun with excitement.

Many Minded
Synopsis: Issa Pyxis, Spacer orphan and illegal heretic, graduated from living on the streets to running with a gang years ago, but now it looks like that’s all going to change. Her inheritance, more specifically who—or what—she is, is catching up with her, and on a planet with the Emperor’s inquisitors slinking around in every shadow, nowhere is safe and no one can be trusted. What will she do? A cyberpunk story about identity, loneliness, covert infiltration, evil dystopias, and much more! Features: - Cyborgs and cyberpunk galore - This is indented to be somewhat “rational” and “hard” Sci-Fi story - Original Fiction however parts of my worldbuilding are inspired by other Sci-Fi stories (duh) Rationale: The future is cool, AIs are kickass, and questions about consciousness are simultaneously existential and yet unanswered. To me, this story is a vehicle for exploring these topics, and also, I wanted to write a story where the protagonist was unafraid of themselves and where their self is more like a git-repo than a meat computer. Disclaimer: This story primarily takes place in what we’d describe as a “cyberpunk dystopia” with some extra technocracy, autocracy, and religious fervor thrown into the mix, so there will be some “grittiness” in this story. Caveat emptor. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character and other characters in my story can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way they view the world isn’t always objective truth (if such a thing even exists) nor do their views and opinions necessarily reflect the views of me, the author.
