Despite the lack of celebratory red lanterns or marriage candles or rings, Tang Yuyan’s happiness was unrivalled. But right at the moment where she willed to douse herself in bliss, someone had to ruin it. There was someone behind the door.

The footsteps outside had caused the entangled couple to pause their rendezvous abruptly. This almost felt like deja vu, much like the slight taste of pleasure she tasted on the night at Dawang snow mountain. She couldn’t believe that she was getting a second chance. Xia Lei followed her gaze, immediately noting the pacing Zhang Yumei behind the door.

Zhang Yumei had plastered the side of her face against the door in an obvious attempt to figure out what was happening inside. After two seconds of hesitation, she reached out and gripped the doorknob.

Xia Lei frantically got off Tang Yuyan and pulled the blanket over them.

The door opened and Zhang Yumei came into view.

Tang Yuyan was impressed with Xia Lei’s fast response. If he had acted one second later, her mother would’ve caught them red-handed. If she walked in any other time, it would’ve been fine. There would be no trouble other than the expected awkwardness. After all, Tang Yuyan was already Xia Lei’s wife. Unfortunately, tonight’s events were extraordinary. Xia Lei was still supposed to be ‘unconscious’ at this moment.

Though Xia Lei was fast, the man had left behind vital evidence. Their underwears. He had just plucked off her white lace panties and dropped them off the side of her bed along with his. The overlapping of their undergarments was much like their missionary position earlier.

“He’s still unconscious.” Tang Yuyan lied through her teeth. “He hasn’t woken up yet.”

Tang Yuyan heaved a heavy sigh and conjured up the painful experience she had to endure earlier. Her tears began to pour helplessly. Her tearful voice wavered, “Mother, do you think he’d ever forgiven me? You have all committed a grave sin.”

“I’m sure he’ll find it in himself to forgive you. You’re husband and wife now. He won’t be so heartless. Plus, as long as you hide it well, he wouldn’t notice.” Zhang Yumei walked to the bed, seemingly unwilling to believe in Tang Yuyan’s words. She needed to confirm Xia Lei’s situation herself.

“No! He’ll never forgive me!” Tang Yuyan sobbed. “You…! You stole his AE capsule! He’ll never forgive me for that. I’m doing this now because I really wanted his child…”

Tang Yuyan’s emotions flared. “If you knew of such risks and yet can’t shoulder its consequences, why even do it in the first place?!”

“There’s never free lunches in this world, Yuyan. Everything has its price. From what we can get off Xia Lei, we’re willing to take any risks.”

“You…” Tang Yuyan suddenly went quiet. It wasn’t because of her mother’s infuriating stubbornness that she clamped her jaw shut. There was a sneaky hand underneath the blankets working its magic. Tang Yuyan was worried that she’d sound weird if she went on.

“You’ll understand this someday. Everything we do is for the sake of the Tang family and its descendants. It won’t be long before the Tang family becomes the world’s strongest clan. You’ll have the luck to see the dream come true and when that time comes, you’ll finally understand that all risks were worth it.”

“Mmph.” Tang Yuyan made a noise through her lips, her expression weird.

“So you understand it? I’m glad you understand it now.” A smile had appeared on Zhang Yumei’s face. “Wait it out for a few more days and then go apologize to your grandfather. I’m sure he’ll forgive you. And your father. You need to apologize to your father too.”

“Mm.” Another light hum rolled out of Tang Yuyan’s throat. The woman was biting down hard on her lips now.

“Alright, go on with what you’re doing. After all, Xia Lei’s children are what we want too…” But suddenly, Zhang Yumei was reminded of something. “Is he even able to do anything in this state?”

“Get out!” Tang Yuyan screamed at her mother.

As soon as the door clicked shut and before Zhang Yumei’s footsteps were a considerable distance away, Tang Yuyan roughly peeled the blanket away and slapped Xia Lei’s ass. She cried, “My family is bullying me and you’re bullying me too. My mother was here with us and you… !”

Xia Lei hugged her. “You’re so pretty, I couldn’t help but tease you a little. If that was bullying… How about I bully you a little more?”

Tang Yuyan gnawed her lip and then nodded heavily. She closed her eyes and awaited that moment of happiness.

Xia Lei inched forward.

Every second of their consummation night was precious.

“What did she say?” Tang Tianlong was impatient.

Tang Tianlong and Zhang Yumei couldn’t help but lock gazes.
