《TranXending Vision》Chapter 813 - Came in the Nick of Time

Xia Lei couldn’t avert his gaze from the huge glass container. It seemed like his guess was correct. The woman in the huge glass container was indeed Gu Kewen.
She no longer had a peaceful look on her face. The peaceful smile had been replaced by a stoic one. Her body was covered with patches with wires and a catheter to carry the fluid. She looked just like the monster in Frankenstein's lab. Her skin was so pale that it did not seem like she had any blood in her body.
Suddenly, Gu Kewen’s fingers twitched.
Xia Lei was shocked while opening his mouth wide. He hadn’t really believed the guards before this. Now that he had seen it, he finally understood their shock.
Tsukino Kyoko nudged Xia Lei before walking towards one of the researchers.
Xia Lei snapped back to his senses and prevented Tsukino Kyoko from heading towards the guards. He knew what she was going to do. But it wasn’t the right plan.
Tsukino Kyoko turned around with a puzzled look. There were only a few feeble researchers left in the laboratory. After knocking them down, they were free to do as they wished. However, Xia Lei prevented her from doing so. She couldn’t understand Xia Lei’s intention of stopping her from doing what was necessary.
“Let them continue their work. There’s no need to hurt them.” Xia Lei whispered to Tsukino Kyoko and headed towards the glass container.
Tsukino Kyoko was bewildered. However, she was used to following Xia Lei’s instruction. After hesitating for a while, she followed Xia Lei’s footsteps and walked towards the glass container.
At this moment, a woman spotted Xia Lei and Tsukino Kyoko. She said in Hindi as she left her work post and walked towards them. “Who are you guys? What are you doing here?”
Tsukino Kyoko took a step forward and prepared to knock her out.
Xia Lei stepped in front of Tsukino Kyoko and blocked in front of her. He spoke in Japanese. “We’re from V Science Corp. We’ve gotten permission before entering.”
The Indian woman shook her head, indicating that she could not understand him.
Xia Lei once again spoke in English. “Miss, can you understand English?”
The Indian woman finally nodded. She spoke in English, “Of course, English is one of our two official languages.” She paused for a while before continuing. “I was asking, how did you get here? Who are you?”
“We’re from V Science Corp. We are here to provide after-sales service. We have a very good after-sales service system. We’re concerned that you’re not familiar with our machine. We’re here to give a helping hand. We’ve got permission from Mister Nahar. He’s the one who provides us with the password and the pass,” said Xia Lei. He had no way of backing up his statement. He was just making it up as he went.

Tsukino Kyoko finally understood Xia Lei’s intention.
Sometimes, the simplest way to solve things was not with the fist but with words.
“Oh, that’s why you’re here. We’re indeed facing some problems with your machine. It took us a lot of time to translate the manuals. However, it’s far from enough. We did not dare to mess with it as it is too expensive. You come at the right time. Can you give us a demonstration of this machine?” The Indian woman looked at Xia Lei expectantly.
Tsukino Kyoko took a glance at Xia Lei nervously. If Xia Lei wasn’t able to provide a demonstration to the researchers, they would be found out.
In contrast, Xia Lei seemed relaxed. “Of course. By the way, miss, are you the person-in-charge here?”
“Yes, you can call me Salman.” The Indian woman who claimed to be Salman held out a hand to Xia Lei. “And you are?”
“Hattori Mai.” Xia Lei casually said a name and shook hands with Salman. Then, he introduced Tsukino Kyoko to her. “She’s my assistant. You can call her Yamaki.”
“Nice to meet you, Miss Yamaki.” Salman shook hands with Tsukino Kyoko.
“Nice to meet you too, Miss Salman.” Tsukino Kyoko was being polite.
Salman led Xia Lei and Tsukino Kyoko to go around the huge glass container. The medical robot from V Science Corp was behind the container.
It wasn’t a piece of equipment straight out of a sci-fi movie. Instead, it looked like a surgery bed, which the patients could lie on for surgery. It was equipped with a computer, robotic arms and several ancillary types of equipment. It seemed complicated but exquisite.
Xia Lei secretly gasped in admiration. “No wonder it cost five million dollars. It’s definitely worth the price. Japan’s artificial intelligence technology is truly astounding.” Then, his lips curved in an inexplicable smile. “However, the gap will soon disappear.”
“Mister Mai, please wait for a moment. I’ll prepare a specimen for you,” said Salman.
“Go ahead. I’ll get ready in the meantime,” said Xia Lei.
After Salman left, Xia Lei took the backpack off his shoulder and took out his computer from it. He electrified the Divine Hand and connected his computer to the Divine Hand’s master computer.
Divine Hand, it was the name given to the robot by V Science Corp.
The computer was copying the software and the control program from the Divine Hand while Xia Lei was examining the structure of the Divine Hand using his X-ray vision.

What Xia Lei did best was not sniping and designing weapons. Instead, it was turning others’ technology into his own and improving it.
“Boss, what are you doing?” Tsukino Kyoko failed to grasp the situation.
Xia Lei smiled. “Sharing is caring. Since we’re here, let’s get something good out of it. Don’t worry about it. Just keep your mouth shut and watch later.”
Tsukino Kyoko nodded.
After five minutes, Xia Lei put his computer back to the backpack. Shortly after, Salman returned with an operational vehicle.
A man’s corpse was lying on the vehicle. He was fat and stipped down entirely. He had probably been in the freezer because his skin was still covered with frost. The corpse looked stiff and disgusting.
Upon seeing the corpse, Xia Lei understood at once the specimen Salman mentioned. This laboratory really lived up to its reputation as the clandestine laboratory. They were able to retrieve human bodies at a moment's notice.
Salman pushed the man and stopped beside the Divine Hand. “Can someone help me to lift this guy to the machine? We are so short-handed that I can't find anyone else.”
“I’ll do it.” Tsukino Kyoko moved the corpse from the vehicle to the operating table of the Divine Hand with the help of Salman.
Xia Lei moved in front of the Divine Hand. “Miss Salman, what kind of demonstration are you after?”
“We broke his neck, I’d like you to repair the nerves in the cervical spine by operating the machine,” said Salman.
Xia Lei’s brow furrowed. “How can such an operation be done on dead people?”
“Stop asking. Just show me the operation,” said Salman.
“Alright.” Xia Lei entered an instruction into the master computer. He learned the ways to operate the machine during the time the computer was copying the software and related programs from the Divine Hand.
It was actually quite simple. Xia Lei was just typing in the relevant instructions for it to work as desired. Artificial intelligence was no smarter than the average person. The main purpose of this technology is to replace people with intelligent robots in certain environments. If complicated procedures were still needed while operating these kinds of machines, then it would not be known as artificial intelligence.
The Divine Hand was operating as soon as Xia Lei entered the instructions. The corpse was fixed on the operating table. Then, the robotic hand that was in charge of the operation made a small incision in the back of the neck. The progress was shown on the master computer. The machine was using a biological material for repairing the nerve. The whole process looked similar to welding a piece of metal using a welding torch.
“Oh my god, it’s amazing.” Salman gasped in admiration.
“The operation is pretty easy. By the way, Miss Salam, are you planning to use this robot to repair the nerves in the neck of the woman in the glass container?”
“You are right. This is our experiment. That’s all I can tell you. Please stop asking.” Xia Lei detected a note of alarm in Salman’s eyes.
Xia Lei smiled. “It’s not a secret. Mister Nahar told me about his reincarnation program. We’re interested in it and we’re planning to invest in the laboratory. I also know that he's going to bring back the woman in the glass container. Am I right?”
“You… Why would he tell you all these?” Salman’s expression hardened.
“Miss Salman, there’s no such thing as a secret in this world. I also know that Mister Nahar is facing some problems now. You all could be dismissed from this laboratory. How can you continue your research without investors?”
“I see he told you everything. However, I understand. He’s done so much for the laboratory. If the laboratory were to shut down, it’ll be worse than killing him.”
“Now that our companies are about to become partners. Miss Salman, can't you tell me when you're going to operate on that woman and how you're going to bring her back to life?” said Xia Lei.
“Alright,” Salman said. “We’re ready. All we were missing was the operation of the Divine Hand. Since you’ve demonstrated it to us, we’re going to operate on her tonight.”
“How are you going to revive her?”
“It’s complicated. You wouldn’t understand even if I explained to you. If you’re interested in this project, you may stay the night,” said Salman.
It was tonight.
They came in the nick of time.
