《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 893 - Looking into Su Tao

The ambulance came a few minutes later. When the husband saw that the woman was bleeding from her lower body, his face changed drastically and helped her into the ambulance.
Knowing that the woman had been treated by Su Tao, Ni Jingqiu knew that it should be fine. The two of them walked back into the house side by side. All of a sudden, Ni Jingqiu sighed, “There are no good men in the world.”
“Why did you include me in it? I just saved a life and a family here!” Su Tao smiled, bitterly.
“Because if the woman had a miscarriage and divorce with her husband, she might have a new life instead.” Ni Jingqiu refuted.
“You can’t be sure about that. It’s harder for a divorced woman to find another man. Since you said that there are no good men in the world, how can you be certain that she will be a good one next?” Su Tao smiled, shaking his head.
Ni Jingqiu was briefly stunned before she replied in an unhappy tone, “If I’m in her shoes, I would rather be single for the rest of my life. I can still live well without relying on men.”
“Then how are you going to resolve your needs?” Su Tao smiled, tactfully.
“Who says that there’s a need for that?” Ni Jingqiu glared at Su Tao.
“That’s because you’ve never experienced it.” said Su Tao with a bitter smile.
Glaring daggers at Su Tao, Ni Jingqiu entered the master bedroom. When Su Tao followed behind her, she was already lying on the bed with her eyes closed. “The guest room!”
Tugging herself in the quilt, Ni Jingqiu closed her eyes and started sleeping.
In the beginning, Su Tao thought that she was feigning to be asleep. He walked over and deliberately squeezed her wrist, only to discover that she had truly fallen asleep. Carefully tugging her wrist back into the quilt, Su Tao looked at her sleeping peacefully.
About five minutes later, he carefully lifted the corner of the quilt and sneaked in. The disturbance made Ni Jingqiu’s lips move. She turned sideways and subconsciously nudged her body before she calmed down.
All of a sudden, Su Tao suddenly became courageous. Closing his eyes, he said silently, “I guess it can be considered that we’ve slept together after tonight. Let me stay here with you for twenty… no, ten minutes.”
But five minutes later, Su Tao’s heavy eyelids began to drop and fell asleep.
In the next early morning when the sun rose up on the horizon, Su Tao suddenly felt a little itch on his face. It felt like a warm tongue and someone breathing on his cheek. Rolling over to the sideways, Su Tao scratched his cheek with his hand. But all of a sudden, he bounced up and looked around. When he saw a Japanese Spitz looking at him curiously. Occasionally, it would stretch out its paw and to rub the pillow.
Su Tao was dumbfounded when he saw the dog. He had no memories of it yesterday, so where did it come from?

He immediately started to recall what happened last night and remembered how he hugged Ni Jingqiu last night. He could hear a conversation taking place outside in the living room and his scalps suddenly went numb. The only thought that went through his mind was if someone had seen him in Ni Jingqiu’s room.
He immediately flipped the quilt away and saw himself dressed. He only felt relieved after realizing that nothing happened to him and Ni Jingqiu last night.
But just when he was about to go out, Ni Jingqiu suddenly opened the door. The Japanese Spitz immediately hopped down from the bed and ran towards Ni Jingqiu.
This must be a male dog! Su Tao thought.
“Who’s outside?” Su Tao asked in a guilty low voice.
“My mother!” Ni Jingqiu glared at Su Tao. “You were so deeply asleep that you didn’t even discover that someone came!”
“Did she see us?” Su Tao smiled, bitterly.
“Well duh! She’s not stupid!” Ni Jingqiu glared daggers at Su Tao. “I’m in deep shit now!”
“It’s fine. Just tell her that there was nothing between us. We only slept together.” Su Tao squeezed out a smile.
“Give me your hand!” Ni Jingqiu demanded with a solemn face.
Su Tao had no idea what Ni Jingqiu was trying to do. When he stretched his hand out, Ni Jingqiu immediately grabbed onto his arm and bit down on it.
Su Tao grimaced from the pain. As he wanted to keep his voice down, he could only growl out, “Cut it out! I’m a Divine Physician!”
Ni Jingqiu was satisfied when she saw the teeth mark on Su Tao’s arm. “That’s better. I believe that what happened last night was an accident so I forgive you for that. But think of how you’re going to face my mother later.”
“I don’t think your mother will ask about it, right? After all, young people’s affairs are complicated. As an elder, it’s not appropriate for her to ask about it.” Su Tao said with guilty conscience. “Why don’t I find a chance to slip away? Then just pretend that I never came and nothing happened.”
“Why are you so stupid all of a sudden?” Ni Jingqiu looked at Su Tao sourly.
“Well, I’m actually an introverted person.” Su Tao replied, pitifully as he rubbed the teeth mark on his arm.
“I have no idea if my mother will ask you about it.” Even Ni Jingqiu felt a little vexed. Shoving the Japanese Spitz aside with her foot, she warned, “Don’t let it happen again!”
While she seemed to be warning Su Tao, she also seemed to be reminding herself.
Ni Jingqiu left the room gracefully after leaving her words behind. Looking at her, Su Tao sighed inwardly. He knew that there was no way he could prove himself innocent now.
Knowing that there was no way out of this situation, Su Tao came out from the room and pretended to stretch himself. Wang Qiaozhen behaved as usual and looked at Su Tao, “Little Su, come and sit. I bought breakfast.”

Su Tao immediately felt his scalps going numb. Wang Qiaozhen was his patient, and she had been calling him Physician Su in the past. But now, she has changed it to Little Su. It was clear that his status had changed in her heart.
In response to that, Su Tao could only reply with a wry smile. Although nothing happened last night, he did ‘sleep’ with Wang Qiaozhen’s daughter. So he still had to be careful about it.
Looking at the breakfast on the table, Su Tao smiled, “Aunty, isn’t the breakfast a little too sumptuous?”
“Breakfast must be eaten well. Jingqiu doesn’t have a habit of eating breakfast, so I brought them over knowing that she’s here today. But I didn’t expect you to be here as well. I have been wanting to have a talk with you.” Wang Qiaozhen smiled.
Su Tao was a little embarrassed. He looked at Ni Jingqiu for help. Judging from the rhythm of this talk, was Wang Qiaozhen trying to get him engaged with Ni Jingqiu?
Su Tao would naturally take responsibility for what he did. But nothing happened between him and Ni Jingqiu. So wasn’t it a little too fast-paced to talk about marriage with Ni Jingqiu?
“My mother wanted to talk to you about nourishing health. Are you overthinking it? Just look at the sweat on your forehead.” Ni Jingqiu rolled her eyes at Su Tao.
“Oh! My bad! should be obliged to follow up on the patient’s condition as a doctor. I’m truly ashamed that I needed to be reminded of my duty.” Su Tao resolved the awkward situation in a split second. “Let me take your pulse first!”
Wang Qiaozhen stretched out her hand. Taking her pulse for a few seconds, Su Tao then checked her eyes and tongue before he gave his diagnosis, “You’re pretty much fine. There’s no longer a need to take the previous medicine anymore. I’ll write two new prescriptions for you. Take it alternatively every week and you’ll be fine after a month.”
“That’s great! Thank you so much! Come, let’s have our breakfast!” Wang Qiaozhen’s brows loosened up upon listening to Su Tao.
Su Tao went to wash up before returning to the dining table. Ni Jingqiu was drinking a bowl of black rice porridge. Su Tao started with a fried dough stick instead. But just when he was about to chew, Wang Qiaozhen suddenly asked, “Little Su, how many family members do you have?”
That abrupt question took Su Tao by surprise that he nearly threw out the food in his mouth. Wang Qiaozhen was clearly going at the rhythm of checking his household. Swallowing down the food in his mouth with all his might, he squeezed out a smile, “My mother and father are both around. But they’re not in the country.”
“Your parents must be amazing to groom such an outstanding physician like you. I must meet them if there’s an opportunity.” Wang Qiaozhen smiled.
Was this the rhythm for the parents of both parties to meet?
“I’ll definitely let my parents know about it.” Su Tao spoke with a stiff face.
Nodding her head in satisfaction, Wang Qiaozhen continued to ask, “I think it’s better for young people to get married first before focusing on their career. What do you think?”
When Ni Jingqiu saw Su Tao’s face turning pale, she was laughing wildly in her heart. She smiled, “Mom, can’t you let Su Tao focus on eating? It’s impolite to ask questions on the dining table.”
Wang Qiaozhen first glared at Ni Jingqiu before she turned to Su Tao with a smile, “Yeah. You can continue to eat. Let’s talk after you finish eating.”
With an awkward smile, Su Tao slowed down his pace at eating. He was worried about the full-scale questioning that would come next.
After ten-odd minutes later, Su Tao’s phone began to ring. When he answered the call, it was a phone call from Mr. Xue.
They had contacted a few days ago because Su Tao wanted to conduct a health checkup for Vice-Premier Xiao. But Vice-Premier Xiao had been too busy with work. When Su Tao heard that Vice-Premier Xiao would be free two hours from now, Su Tao felt relieved. He finally had a legitimate reason to escape now.
Hanging up the phone, Su Tao looked at Wang Qiaozhen and smiled, “It was a call from the State Council’s Mr. Xue. I’m responsible for Vice-Premier Xiao’s regular health checkup.”
“Then get going quickly. The leader’s schedule is tight. Only you can wait for him and you can let it go the other way around.” Wang Qiaozhen nodded.
Su Tao sped up and shoved down the remaining steamed buns before leaving after a bowl of porridge.
When Ni Jingqiu saw Wang Qiaozhen shaking her head when cleaning up the table, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
“Little Su is too young. I don’t think he’s suitable as a marriage partner. So you should break up with him in my opinion.” Wang Qiaozhen turned around and replied solemnly.
This was the second time Wang Qiaozhen had said this to Ni Jingqiu.
With a bitter smile, Ni Jingqiu explained, “Mom, I’ve already told you that we’re just friends.”
“A friend will stay overnight at a woman’s house? Isn’t it a little too casual?” Wang Qiaozhen didn’t see how Ni Jingqiu and Su Tao slept together on the same bed. Otherwise, there was no way she would let this matter rest so easily.
“You don’t understand the frequency of young people. There are no strict gender differences between friends. If they can communicate with each other, they will become the best company together.” Ni Jingqiu said with annoyance. “Do you know how awkward it was earlier? Don’t worry about it. There’s no way the two of us will get together. Just look at how awkward the atmosphere was.”
Wang Qiaozhen smiled bitterly, “I’m thinking for you. I’m just afraid that you might be cheated.”

Black Wind, White Lotus
In this world, there are haves and have nots. The former are pureblooded humans, some of whom are capable of manipulating qi, the mysterious energy that flows through every living creature, to miraculous results that defy the laws of nature and physics. Wen Feili was one such cultivator. However, she allied with the have nots- the anthropomorphic hybrids incapable of channeling qi-and dabbled in forbidden demonic arts, seeking to change the very composition of reality. This did not end well for her, and she was consumed by her own flames. A decade later, far in the northwestern mountains, her daughter Wen Fengli is working as a lowly servant of the minor Shuangshan sect. In between sweeping the floor and avoiding bullies, she secretly trains with a wooden sword, hoping to become a warrior cultivator at some point in the future. However, since she's part-human, part-wolf, it's just a pipe dream. ....or so she bitterly thought. However, one day a mysterious amulet that belonged to her mother falls into her hands. A deranged old master, a terrible conspiracy, a mysterious past? None of that matters to tomboyish wolfgirl, who only seeks to become stronger. She embarks on a journey of adventure and self-discovery, towards the mysterious southern lands where pure demi-humans are said to live...as spectre of war once again envelops the world of man. This is a Chinese-themed fantasy story set in a fictional world. You can classify it as xianxia, if you wish, but it's a rather low fantasy variant; the heavenly realm is silent, no one reached immortality in generations, and magical artifacts of old are locked away and feared. Magical beasts and spirits have been driven to the corners of civilisation, and "ordinary" abilities such as flying or controlling swords through telekinesis are considered spectacular feats. The main plot of this book revolves around a kemonomimi girl who seeks power, no matter the cost. This story also features multiple character pov, and will not always follow the perspective of the mc- there are two major plotlines, one connected to conspiracy and war ongoing in the political background of the presented world, and the other focusing on the main character's physical and metaphorical journey.
