《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 866 - Ten Best National Healers

There was a result the next day. Shao Wentao had confessed to several crimes, which implicated Sun Changle. During their time in the National Healer Team, they acted as intermediary bridges for officials and businessmen. Because of them, many high ranking officials were also affected, and the aftermath caused a sensation across the country.
Now that Shao Wentao and Sun Changle were arrested, Yue Zun became the most popular candidate for the National Healer Team’s leader position.
Su Tao received a call from Yan Peng. It took him a long time to recall this person. They previously met in a restaurant, which Su Tao brought his employees for company dinner. At that time, Su Tao mentioned Yue Zun to express his unhappiness for Shao Wentao.
He had also mentioned this person to Yue Zun. Su Tao became an intermediary since this person wanted Yue Zun to take a look at him. Yan Peng invited Su Tao to visit his home, in which he prepared a vehicle for Su Tao and Yue Zun.
The vehicle first went to pick Yue Zun before Su Tao.
Sitting on the backseat, Su Tao smiled, “I’m sorry to trouble you, Martial Uncle. But there’s actually a story behind why I accepted this patient.” Su Tao then explained how he came across Yu Youqing and Shao Wentao in a restaurant back then.
“So it’s a patient you snatched from Yu Youqing and Shao Wentao. Then I’ll really have to take a look at this patient.” Yue Zun smiled.
The vehicle arrived before a luxurious villa. Yan Peng had been waiting for their arrival for a long time now. He shook hands with the both of them and smiled, “Thank you to the both of you for making a trip over.”
Nodding his head, Yue Zun smiled, “If you want to thank, you should thank Su Tao instead. You might not be able to invite me over if it’s not for him.”
“I’ll have to thank you then, Mr. Su!” Yan Peng turned to Su Tao with a smile.
Passing through the courtyard, Yan Peng led the two of them to the living room. Sitting at the coffee table, Yan Peng personally brewed a cup of tea for Yue Zun and Su Tao.
Yan Peng was a successful businessman. So he was pretty entertaining in a conversation. Su Tao noticed how Yue Zun would ask Yan Peng about his diet. Yue Zun was actually paving the way for the treatment now.
Diabetes was also known as thirst-quenching disease. There was a saying in Chinese; those who have trouble drinking water daily would also have difficulty urinating. TCM was one of the earliest medical studies who recognized diabetes, and there were four main causes for it.
One was the deficiency of Yin and the weakness in the five organs. The second was irregular diet and obesity. The third was emotional disorder and the irregular flow of the liver’s energy. The last was toxins invading the body.
Yan Peng wasn’t obese, and he didn’t seem to have an issue with his emotions. So that leaves two other possible causes.

But since Yue Zun was the one responsible for treating Yan Peng, Su Tao did not interfere. Yan Peng’s diabetes was long detected, and Yue Zun could tell that he had type-1 diabetes from the medical report. It was caused by the immune system destroying insulin-producing cells.
“Little Su, what do you think about this prescription?” Yue Zun handed a prescription that he prepared for Yan Peng over to Su Tao. Generally speaking, only those who are confident in their skills would give their prescription to another doctor to examine. Then again, Yue Zun had regarded Su Tao as a family.
Although they were western medicine, Su Tao still agreed with Yue Zun’s decision and smiled, “These medications can effectively control your blood sugar. Furthermore, they don’t have any side effects. As long as Mr. Yan takes this for a long time, your condition will get better in six months. But you still have to change your lifestyle a little and avoid going to bed in the morning.”
“Mr. Su, you’re really amazing to be able to tell that I have a habit of sleeping late.” Yan Peng smiled, nodding his head.
“Oh, right. Don’t look at Little Su for being young, but he’s a specialist in TCM. Since he’s here, it would be better for you to consult him.” Yue Zun smiled.
Yan Peng heard of Yue Zun’s reputation, but he didn’t understand Su Tao too well. But after Yue Zun reminded him, he smiled, “Please give me some guidance, Mr. Su.”
Seeing Yue Zun looking at him with smiles, Su Tao smiled bitterly, “The medication that Mr. Yue prescribed you is all effective for your condition. My suggestion to you is to make sure that you rest well and exercise frequently.”
There were many treatments for diabetes, such as diet therapy, exercise therapy, drug therapy, and blood sugar monitoring.
Su Tao could tell that Yan Peng lacked exercising, which was why he gave that suggestion.
After they finished examining Yan Peng, Yan Peng arranged a vehicle to send them back to their residence.
When the vehicle drove out for ten-odd minutes, Yue Zun smiled, “This Yan Peng doesn’t seem simple!”
“Oh?” Su Tao looked at Yue Zun, baffled. It was rare for him to see Yue Zun praising someone.
“He’s a famous investor, the director of North-China Pharmaceutical Corporation.” Yue Zun smiled.
Su Tao finally understood why Yu Youqing and Shao Wentao were so polite to him. So it turned out that Yan Peng was an incredible figure. He smiled, “Is that why you deliberately picked medications that are released for the past two years?”
“A medicine merchant like him might not have professional knowledge in medication, but those under him definitely have some knowledge. If you use some commonly seen medication in the country, he will only look down on your standard. To be honest, there’s nothing serious about his condition. All he needs to do is to rest and exercise frequently while taking medication.” Yue Zun nodded.

“It’s hard to change a person’s lifestyle. We can only use medicine to improve it. But I’m afraid that it won’t be easy if he doesn’t change his lifestyle.” Su Tao smiled.
“Oh, you can get his help to promote the products of your medicine factory and Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate.” Yue Zun pondered briefly and smiled. “Forget it, let me help you with that since you’ve been helping me.”
Su Tao was briefly stunned. He never expected that Yue Zun would offer to take care of this matter. Then again, there was no need for him to be polite based on their relationship. He smiled, “Then, I’ll have to thank Martial Uncle for it.”
“Why are you so polite to me?” Yue Zun laughed, waving his hand. He then mentioned a few other names. They were all famous merchants in the medical industry which Yue Zun had a good relationship. They were mainly western medicine, but they have a matured marketing channel that could help to facilitate Chinese medicine into the various hospitals.
Even Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate could make use of their channel.
Yue Zun had wanted to introduce them to Su Tao, but he had been a little too busy recently. So now that they were talking about it, he became open about it.
Western medicine doctors and western medicine have a close relationship together, especially someone as famous as Yue Zun.
“Martial Uncle, I can’t remember so much!” Su Tao smiled.
Nodding his head, Yue Zun replied, “I’ll take some time tomorrow to give them a call. I’m just giving you a heads up. They’re all shrewd businessmen. As long as your medicines are effective, they will definitely help you out. But you’ll have to work on the commission. These people are profiteers.”
Su Tao knew that Yue Zun had treated him as a family by doing this much.
Along with Yue Zun becoming the new leader of the National Healer Team, Yu Youqing was invited out of the scene and moved out of his office.
As for Shao Wentao and Sun Changle, the two of them were in deep trouble. The discipline team found many dirt on them. The two of them had been using their status as a National Healer for their personal gain. Not only were they expelled from the National Healer Team, but they also faced imprisonment.
A few days later, all the National Healers were here in Beijing for a massive gathering, a total of over a hundred and eighty specialists. Everyone was here aside from a minority who were exempted because of important matters. Even Song Sichen and Dou Fanggang had come to Beijing today, which Su Tao brought the two of them around Beijing. Eventually, the two couldn’t hold themselves back from hosting a consultation event in Beijing’s Three Flavour Hall for three days, bringing the Three Flavour Hall’s popularity to a new height.
On the day of the conference, Su Tao came to fetch the two elderly with Su Tao. They then went to the hotel to participate in the conference together.
They met Wang Xi and Wang Rui when they entered the hotel. Wang Xi was sitting on a wheelchair, and his complexion seemed better than before. Song Sichen and Wang Xi exchanged a few greetings when they met. Although Wang Xi wasn’t exactly in his best form, he still had a clear mind. When they chatted, he kept praising Su Tao for being the hope of TCM.
Receiving the Wang Family’s Divine Physician’s praises, Song Sichen and Dou Fanggang’s faces were plastered in smiles. Although they did not talk about it blatantly, they were still feeling quite proud.
The meeting today was on a whole new level. Aside from Chief Wei, the State Council also dispatched a vice-ministerial official to attend the meeting. After the leaders finished their speeches on the stage, the host announced the Ten Best National Healers’ name list, which was welcomed with thunderous applause from the audience.
When Song Sichen heard Su Tao’s name called, he was smiling from ear to ear, “Su Tao, he’s calling you. Hurry up and receive your award. It’s not an easy award to obtain. Even I received one decades ago. It’s not an award that all National Healers could receive.”
Letting out a disdainful snort, Dou Fanggang replied, “Old fogey, why are you so cocky?” Dou Fanggang did not receive this award. He knew well that his reputation might be comparable to Song Sichen in TCM, but Dou Fanggang’s contribution was still lacking.
But when he saw Su Tao going up on the stage to receive the award, he smiled. He might not have the honor to receive this award, but his disciple received one at such a young age. In a sense, Su Tao had fulfilled his dream on his behalf.
Su Tao stood out among the award winners. Even though the Ten Best National Healers this year were young, none of them was as young as Su Tao.
Chief Wei personally presented the certificate and trophy to Su Tao. He walked over and gently patted on Su Tao’s shoulder. He smiled, “Keep it up, young man.”
“Thank you, Chief Wei.” Su Tao would be a hypocrite if he said that he wasn’t excited about it. It was an unimaginable honor to receive an award before nearly two hundred top medical specialists in China.
Grandfather, can you see this? I have already come this far. I believe that things will get better for the Three Flavour Hall in the future.
After the Ten Best National Healers’ awards were presented, the next segment would be the election of the new leader. Yu Youqing looked a little haggard today. On the other hand, Yue Zun looked full of spirits.
Half an hour later, the host announced after counting the votes, “With 162 votes, Yue Zun has been elected as the new National Healer Team’s leader!”
That announcement was welcomed with thundering applause from everyone in the meeting.

The book of forever
An experimental diary of sorts recounting my life and experiences, written as a slightly whimsical scifi story about setting off from the past to unknown lands, rebuilding from nothing and finding myself again. The first section of the book contains matched chapters, a chapter for a interlude, both happening at the same time roughly The second section of the book contains more one off stories as we follow one of the travelers explore their heart as well as a unknown land, growing in the process. All of the text here was written in 10 syllable chunks, this reads like a epic of sorts, just with more philosophical focus and POV jumps. Hope you enjoy! >Updates may be sporadic as I only write when I have something about myself I want to share The chapters can all be read individually, although there may be some crossovers between them they work as single poems. You start at whatever chapter you want since these are a collection of roughly connected poems (although you'll notice tie ins and references to eachother)
