《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 706 - Resolving the Crisis Again

Cao Menglong followed Yu Youqing into the latter’s office.
Sweeping a glance at Cao Menglong, Yu Youqing raised his hand just when the former was about to speak and interrupted, “Menglong, you don’t have to say anymore.”
Knitting his brows, Cao Menglong asked, “Are you going to do nothing? You’re the chief of the organisation, and someone like Su Tao must be removed!”
“Were you used on this matter?” Yu Youqing sighed.
Cao Menglong was suddenly stunned before his face alternated between red and white as he replied, “I’m just being responsible for the organisation.”
Waving his hand, Yu Youqing took out a yellow envelope. “Someone put this in my office two hours ago. Take a look at it.”
When Cao Menglong looked through the envelope, his face alternated between red and white once more as his lips trembled. “Someone planted false evidence against me! Someone is definitely trying to frame me!”
“You and I have been colleagues for years. If it wasn’t for something special, you wouldn’t act out like you did today and target Su Tao. Justify yourself, did something happen to your family?” Yu Youqing asked.
Cao Menglong fell into a dilemma as he lowered his head. He did not dare to look at Yu Youqing and his hands were trembling as he held onto that envelope.
Seeing the conflict in Cao Menglong’s heart, Yu Youqing sighed, “If you don’t tell me the truth, I can only hand this envelope to the disciplinary department. I’m sure that you know the consequences.”
Suddenly, Cao Menglong dropped to his knees as he painfully hugged his head. “Just two days ago, my son was suddenly arrested in America for consuming drugs. Someone told me that my son will be fine if I do according to what they ask.”
“Who is that person?” Yu Youqing pursued.
“I don’t know!” Cao Menglong sighed as he continued, “I initially thought that I could provide excellent education to my son by sending him overseas, but I never expected that he would mix with a bunch of rogues. Not only did he not study well, but he even touched drugs. I’ve tried seeking help from my friends in America, but there was nothing they could do to help.”
Even if Cao Menglong wanted to use his connections and means as his identity as a National Healer, no one would pay attention to him overseas.
After a long silence, Yu Youqing said, “Give me your son’s information. I will resolve this matter for you, but… you have to resign!”
Cao Menglong was stunned and hesitated for a long time before he nodded his head. He knew that Yu Youqing had already given him a path of retreat.
Even without his identity as a National Healer, it’s not a problem for Cao Menglong to rely on his medical skills to provide for himself in a hospital.

“I’ll promise you, and I’ll leave my son to you.” Cao Menglong begged.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll request for a few leaders to take the diplomatic path. When your son returns, remember not to let him stray onto the wrong path again.” Yu Youqing might understand the reason why Cao Menglong sent his son overseas for education, but he did not support such an education method.
Anyone in the country with the financial capability would want to send their descendants overseas before coming back with an abroad résumé. These bunch of people might have received the qualifications from famous international universities, but they might not even be comparable to local students.
Because most students who went abroad would’ve skipped the college entrance examination.
After thanking Yu Youqing, Cao Menglong suddenly thought of something and asked, “How is the organisation planning on dealing with Su Tao?”
“Three days ago, there was an order for us to remain open-minded with Su Tao’s activities in Japan.” Yu Youqing bitterly smiled.
Cao Menglong exclaimed before he sighed when he realised that his actions today were laughable.
Su Tao’s investigation today was only going through the procedures. That meant that there’s no problem with Su Tao’s investigation.
Furthermore, he did not know about it and even jumped out to condemn Su Tao.
As the saying goes, he tried to dig a hole for Su Tao only for himself to fall in it instead.
“May I know which leader made the decision?” Cao Menglong had lost all hope, but he still wanted to die knowing.
“The organisation has decided that Su Tao will be responsible for providing healthcare for Vice Premier Xiao.” Yu Youqing went on to give a list.
Dejected, Cao Menglong left the office with his head down.
There’s naturally a reason why Yu Youqing could become the chief of the organisation. He did not brush Cao Menglong off but immediately gave a call to an old friend to extradite Cao Menglong’s son back to the country.
Once this matter was done, Yu Youqing sighed and gave a call to Yue Zun.
“Chief Yu, are there any instructions?” Yue Zun guessed that this call must have something to do with Su Tao.
“I have just communicated with Cao Menglong, and he has also realised his mistakes. Furthermore, due to family problems, he has resigned from being a National Healer.” Yu Youqing said as he added, “As for Su Tao, I will need to trouble you to comfort him. He’s young, and I’m afraid that he might do something reckless. Not only will it ruin his future, but it will also be a major loss to the National Healer Specialist Team.”
Yue Zun never expected that this matter would end up with Cao Menglong’s resignation. This time, Yu Youqing was truly swift and decisive in his actions.
“Please be reassured as I understand Su Tao well. He might be young, but he has a wide breadth of mind. As long as the organisation continues to trust him, he will definitely not have thoughts other than contributing his best to the country.” Yue Zun immediately responded.

“I’m relieved with your words.” Yu Youqing smiled.
Yue Zun was the ideal person to replace him in the future. Not only did Yue Zun possess decent medical skills, but he was also proficient in dealing with people. When he retires, Yue Zun would have high hopes of replacing him as the chief of the National Healer Specialist Team.
It’s not easy to lead this team since every single member stood at the pinnacle in the medical field, so the chief had to be able to do everything, such as taking care of a member’s psyche. Take Yu Youqing’s method in dealing with Cao Menglong, as an example. He was extremely skilled and made Cao Menglong retire willingly without any complaints.
National Healers often came in contact with high ranking officials, and some of them would have some secrets. If Cao Menglong harboured hatred in his heart and revealed the secrets of those high ranking officials, it would definitely be troublesome.
After hanging up the call with Yu Youqing, Yue Zun sighed as he thought about how to explain this matter to Su Tao.
“Cao Menglong is finished?” Su Tao took the initiative to speak up first.
Yue Zun was briefly stunned before he smiled. “Your sense of hearing is pretty sharp. That’s right, he has already been kicked out of the National Healer Specialist Team.”
“Old Yu isn’t stupid. Just look at how clumsy Cao Menglong acted, anyone can tell that he was being instigated by someone else with a glance. If Old Yu did not deal with this matter well, it would prove that he’s getting old, and it’s time for him to hand over his position.” Su Tao smiled.
“Don’t be cheeky!” Yue Zun glared Su Tao as he continued, “Chief Yu is a good person, and you will realise that he’s someone who’s protective of the younger generation after you’ve interacted with him more.”
“In my view, he’s not as affable as you, Martial Uncle. If you were sitting in that position, it wouldn’t be so troublesome today.” Su Tao smiled as he shook his head.
“You stinking brat!” Yue Zun felt butterflies in his stomach upon hearing Su Tao hinting that he was more suitable as the chief. However, he still spoke otherwise on his lips, “The ripples caused by your trip to Japan can be considered resolved. In the future, you will have to be more cautious. You can’t be so reckless anymore.”
Letting out a sigh, Su Tao curiously asked, “I initially thought that it would be more troublesome to deal with this matter, but I never expected that it would be so easily resolved. I wonder who’s helping me in the dark.”
“It has already been decided that you will be responsible for Vice Premier Xiao’s healthcare in the future.” Yue Zun gave a roundabout answer.
However, Su Tao knew that he now owed a major favor towards Vice Premier Xiao. Furthermore, this probably had something to do with Sire Shui protecting him in the dark.
At this moment, he felt conflicted. He might have many enemies, but the reason why he could resolve the crisis repeatedly was thanks to someone helping him.
Then again, the interests were interlinked together. If Su Tao hadn’t helped Mr. Xiao and Sire Shui, they wouldn’t have treated him so highly.
As for Yue Zun, Su Tao had marked him as someone in the same faction. The former had helped him repeatedly, and Su Tao had to repay this favor in the future.
Thereafter, the two of them chatted and Su Tao shared his thoughts with Yue Zun, which the latter would give him suggestions. Yue Zun could point out the places where he was insufficient, and places he had to improve.
In the end, Yue Zun wanted to invite Su Tao to have a meal together, but Su Tao had refused his offer.
After coming out of the mysterious building, Su Tao flagged a cab and headed for the Three Flavour Hall branch. Although it was 7 p.m., the lights were still turned on and there were many patients waiting. Su Tao inwardly sighed. It was just as Cai Yan had told him. Under Ling Yu’s leadership, all the physicians in this branch were working hard.
Ling Yu sat in a room and was preparing to clean up after seeing the last patient. When he raised his head to see a familiar face, he immediately stood up. “Senior Brother Tao, why are you here?”
Waving his hand towards Ling Yu, Su Tao helped out to arrange the tools laid on the table and smiled. “I was in a review earlier, but it was perfectly resolved. Have you eaten? Let’s go, I’ll treat everyone who has worked overtime to a meal!”
“I’ll go announce right away! Oh, right, what are we eating?” Ling Yu smiled.
“We’re naturally going to eat a buffet!” Su Tao pondered briefly and smiled. “Let’s go have the buffet that cost ¥300 a person. Otherwise, I’ll feel guilty for everyone working overtime.”
When Ling Yu came out, he immediately announced Su Tao’s words and everyone cheered out.
Looking at all these brothers and sisters who're fighting together with him, Su Tao sighed. He couldn’t describe his happiness at this moment.
An incapable soldier was just a soldier, but an incapable commander would bring up a team of incapable soldiers.
On the contrary, a good commander was extremely important to a team. For Beijing's branch to be filled with fighting spirit, it had a close relation to Ling Yu’s diligence.

Return of Chaos
For the longest time, it was thought that the citizens of Earth were the only denizens of the galaxy incapable of developing superhuman abilities — but recent events have flipped that assumption on its head. Between Austin Travis, Mote Emerson, Pierce Bradley, and their friends, Earth is now host to 12 Chaotics… as well as a myriad of mysteries surrounding them. From a new nemesis in the form of a clone, to connections to ancient technology from a long-lost civilization, to the ability to summon powerful legendary weapons, these 12 Chaotics have unknowingly become entangled in something larger than any of them have ever imagined. As if in response to these discoveries, the sinister machinations of galactic evil are churning. The metallic infection, a calamitous nanotechnology “disease” thought to have been vanquished 20 years ago, is slowly returning — and alongside it, a number of conflicts thought to be long past. While they only seek to better grasp their own abilities, Earth’s Chaotics will soon find themselves in the crossfire of returning threats and old heroes. These superpowered Earthians may not have chosen this path through life, but it will still be up to them to determine if history remembers them — to determine if history remembers the saga of the Keys. Return of Chaos is a direct sequel to Chosen Chaos, which begins the Key Saga novel series. Be sure to read Chosen Chaos first, to understand the plot and the characters thus far! Additionally, the Key Saga as a whole takes place 20 years after Rise. You will not need to read Rise to understand the events of Return of Chaos, however the latter will spoil many of the events that occurred in Rise, due to the simple chronology of taking place later in the timeline.
