《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 617 - One Locked Up, One Released

Since Su Tao, Liu Jianwei, and Xia Yu were considered dangerous, Deng Feng instructed that the three of them are to be cuffed. As for Chen Guang and his daughter, they were in a better position, especially a refined man like Chen Guang. When he got in the car, he started making calls to his friends.
But even if he’s known as the Conscience of China’s Media in the country, he didn’t have many friends that he could seek help from.
“They’re the good guys, and they only did that to save my daughter!” Chen Guang bitterly smiled. Even if he knew that there were many things in the world where they only looked at it from the surface and not the truth, he still tried his best to persuade.
Locking his brows together, Deng Feng had already obtained the information of those few people and asked, “Mr. Chen, if everyone behaves like them, then what do you want us to do? The dozen that they injured are foreigners, and if this matter blows up, it will be an international matter. Can you bear the responsibility?”
“All of them wielded weapons, and isn’t it all because we couldn’t get any help? If I called the cops, can you guys guarantee the safety of my daughter?” Chen Guang raged.
Hearing Chen Guang’s ridicule, even Deng Feng was a little unhappy as he replied, “Of course we can! But the prerequisite is that you have to call the cops! Right now, they’ve used weapons to fight and even hurt others. This is an act of threatening public safety. Mr. Chen, I know that you’re the victim here, but even if they helped you, you can’t cover the fact that they’re violent criminals. As a reporter, you’re well-aware of the law, so you can’t handle things with your emotions.”
Balling his fists together, Chen Guang glared at Deng Feng and inwardly cursed. What has the world become to treat the good guys as violent criminals?
As he took a deep breath, he noticed Su Tao winking at him. He knew that Su Tao was signaling him not to waste any effort. In the end, Chen Guang could only lower his head. All of a sudden, he realised that he’s helpless. He was helpless when his daughter was kidnapped, and now, he’s also helpless to help his benefactor. In the end, all the time and effort he spent studying were useless.
When the car stopped, Su Tao, Xia Yu, and Liu Jianwei were escorted to the interrogation room, while Chen Guang was escorted to another room to have his statement taken.
Deng Feng knew that Su Tao might be young, but he’s the backbone of this group. Hence, he had decided to interrogate Su Tao himself.
Staring at Deng Feng, Su Tao could tell that even though this person wore a benevolent expression, his eyes were sharp, as if he could read through people’s thoughts.

“Why did you bring people to hurt others?” Deng Feng coldly questioned.
“We’re saving people! If we don’t hurt others, we won’t be able to save them.” Su Tao did not deny the fact that they had injured people.
“According to the eyewitnesses, those Africans were injured by five people. You’re the overall planner, so you should know about their location, right?” Deng Feng pursued, “If you hand over their location, we might be able to consider re-evaluating your punishment.”
Letting out a sigh, Su Tao smiled. “Even I have no idea where they are right now. But even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you. Furthermore, I don’t think that I’ve done anything wrong.”
All of a sudden, Deng Feng glared and slammed the table. “I never expected that you’re such an apathetic person. Don’t you know that your actions can be considered terrorism?!”
“If it’s considered terrorism to rescue others from the hands of lawbreakers, then there’s no justice in the world!” Su Tao sneered.
Su Tao realised that these people had fooled him since their origin was fishy.
After Deng Feng calmed down, he realised that Su Tao was tougher to deal with than he had imagined. At the same time, he couldn’t use any forced interrogation due to Su Tao’s unique identity. After all, Su Tao was a National Healer, and in ancient times, his position was akin to an Imperial Physician in the court.
Readjusting the lamp, Deng Feng directed it on Su Tao’s face. This was a typical interrogation method since the intense light would sting the eye, slowly eroding their willpower. Nodding his head to the person beside him, Deng Feng instructed, “Continue to interrogate until he tells the truth.”
When Deng Feng came out, he returned to his office and found someone on the couch. He was a little surprised since he knew the identity of the person and immediately smiled. “Young Master Shao, why didn’t you notify me of your arrival?”
Handing over a cigarette to Deng Feng, Shao Jing replied, “I know that you’re busy, so I did not want to bother you.”
Walking over to his desk, Deng Feng picked up the phone and instructed, “Prepare two cups of excellent tea!”
Five minutes later, a woman in uniform entered with a tray and placed down the teapot and teacups.
After the woman left, Shao Jing smiled. “I initially thought that this place only had men. I never expected to see such a delicate woman.”
Hearing those words, Deng Feng laughed, “We need to receive people in the office, and women are more meticulous. What’s the matter? Are you interested in her? She doesn’t have a boyfriend, so I can help you with matchmaking.”
Waving his hand, Shao Jing smiled. “You have so many outstanding talents around you, so how is it my turn? You must be joking.”

As Deng Feng laughed, he took a sip of the tea. He knew Shao Jing’s identity, and this was a genuine third-generation official. He’s from Beijing, and he came to Nanyue Province a few years ago to develop it. In the beginning, a local thug wanted to mess with him, but no one expected him to bring an ‘Imperial Guard Squad’ over. In the end, the local thug was beaten up and willingly gave up all his territories.
Deng Feng knew Shao Jing’s ability. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to come and go to Beijing as he wished. Furthermore, Shao Jing’s connections were terrifying after he established a clubhouse, and all of its members are second-generation tycoons in Nanyue Province. They often conduct high-end activities together to exchange resources. The Love Representative Charity Funds was a cover, and they often used it as a name for them to squander money.
“May I ask if Young Master Shao has any requests for me?” Deng Feng asked, maintaining his smile.
“I need two favors from you!” Shao Jing smiled.
“Oh?” Deng Feng was shocked before he replied, “Please let me know what they are. If they’re something that I can help with, I will definitely do my best.”
“Lock one person up, and release one!” Shao Jing suddenly changed the topic and continued, “I previously heard from my friend that he lacks a capable subordinate, and I feel that you have high hopes to fight for it.”
With a tactful smile, Deng Feng replied, “Well, that will depend on the opportunity.”
“I am that opportunity!” Shao Jing smiled.
Shao Jing did not continue talking and placed down a paper on the table then left. When Deng Feng opened up the paper, he saw two names on it. Instantly, he fell into a dilemma before he went over to the shredder and shredded it into pieces.
After entering the sole McLaren P1 in Nanyue Province, Shao Jing gave a call to Qin Jingyu, “As according to your request, I’ve sorted it out. Since that brat, Su Tao, came to Yangcheng City and even caused such a din, then it’s impossible for him to get off so easily.”
Qin Jingyu smiled. “It’s impossible to lock him up forever. After all, he has the Shui Family backing him up, not to mention that he has a good relationship with the Ni and Ye Families as well. But we can still teach him a lesson. Furthermore, get yourself out of the Love Representative Charity Funds as soon as possible. I just received the news that the reporter, Chen Guang, has a pretty great influence. He has many loyal readers, and I know some of them. All of them practically read all of his articles. The reason why Nanyue’s City News dares to publish it is because the Chief Editor had directly sent the script to a few leaders through coded telegram, which instructions came two hours later. Nanyue Province might be a mess, but if they’re determined to govern, they will definitely implement it.”
Letting out a sigh, Shao Jing nodded his head. “I know what to do.”
After a brief pondering, Qin Jingyu reminded, “Getting rich off charity is, after all, a dishonest practice. Since you’ve already obtained your first bucket of gold, then swiftly convert it. As for the scapegoat, you have to give up when it’s time.”
Shao Jing knew that Qin Jingyu was telling him to give up on Cai Mingxuan, to which he briefly pondered and replied, “I never expected that the situation would be so serious.”
After a brief pause, his eyes flashed with rage, and he muttered, “That Su Tao, I didn’t provoke him, but he actually dared to provoke me and stop my fortune? I will definitely not let him off!”
Ever since they returned from Russia, his superior’s mood was pretty good, and this was also the reason why the daily working time was extended.
However, Mr. Xue was already used to this lifestyle. As long as the office of his superior was still lit, he wouldn’t leave his position. This was the fundamental responsibility of a subordinate. He had just asked the logistics to prepare a bowl of wontons. But just when he wanted to deliver it over, his desk phone suddenly rang out. It was a call from the Chief Editor of Nanyue’s City News, Xu Yonggang.
A long time ago, Mr. Xue also came from Nanyue’s City News Corporation, and this was the reason why he had a good relationship with Xu Yonggang. At the same time, Xu Yonggang also relied on his relationship with Mr. Xue to get this far in his career. The two of them had the same hobby and religion. Deep in their bones, they had a dream of extinguishing evil and helping the weak.
“Old Cai, I just received an email, and I hope that you can hand it over to him. As soon as possible!” Xu Yonggang said in a grave tone.
“Oh?” Mr. Xue locked his brows together. Even if he was the most favored subordinate of his superior, as a secretary, he definitely must know how to be cautious. He couldn’t be too subjective in both his thoughts and actions. For such an email to bypass through the standard procedures and be handed over to the superior was a huge taboo.
Hence, he’s hesitating.
“It’s an email from the Chief Reporter, Chen Guang!” Xu Yongyang replied since he knew that he needed to give Mr. Xue an appropriate reason.
Xu Yonggang thought highly of Chen Guang. Otherwise, Chen Guang wouldn’t be able to be the Chief Reporter despite causing so much trouble.
After hanging up the call, Xu Yonggang looked at Chen Guang and sighed, “I’ve already handed it over for you. The only thing that we can do right now is wait.”
