《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 560 - An Illness Detected From Scent

After Su Tao finished showering, Qin Meimei came over with a small bottle in her hand and sprayed it in the air. Taking a sniff of it, the scent felt familiar so Su Tao asked, “Perfume?”
Nodding her head, Qin Meimei handed it over with a smile, “Take a look at it yourself!”
Taking a glance at it, the bottle had the logo of the Three Flavour Hall, which he instantly knew what it was and asked, “This is the Three Flavour Hall’s new product?”
Seizing the perfume from his hands, Qin Meimei replied, “This is something that the Three Flavour Hall produced from the formula you gave and even added several ingredients that are suitable for the international market. There are several scents that have been produced, and this one is more suitable for men.”
However, Su Tao wrinkled his nose since he wasn’t too fond of this scent, but at the same time, he did not sound his opinion. After all, the Three Flavour Hall hired professionals, and they would put in consideration when researching a new product. At this age, aside from preserving the lifespan of the product, they also had to adapt to the changes in the market.
For western countries, men and women alike used perfume. It’s a huge misunderstanding that body odours differed by race. The body’s odour changes from the person’s lifestyle, and it’s not caused by one’s race. Ultimately, hygiene and cleanliness were of the utmost importance.
Just like how Chinese liked to enjoy tea, perfumes were considered etiquette for people of the western countries; a necessity just like food. In ancient times, perfume had an essential trade in Arab countries, and it was also once popular in ancient Rome. Back then, when ancient Rome swept through Asia, Africa, and Europe, those countries were affected by the mother country, and thus, perfume slowly became part of their lifestyle.
The formulas that Su Tao provided had several herbs with a pleasant scent. Not only can the scent last longer, but it’s also beneficial for the skin.
Watching how Qin Meimei carefully stowed it, Su Tao smiled. “This product still hasn’t been introduced to the market?”
“We’re all guinea pigs, and we’re required to write a report on it every day. It’s really tiring.” Qin Meimei smiled.
Taking a glance at her watch, Lu Shimiao smiled. “We’re getting late; let’s go!”
“Wait, I can’t hold it in anymore! I have to use the bathroom!” Qin Meimei held onto her abdomen in an exaggerated manner and walked to the bathroom.
Since Lu Shimiao had been moving about, Su Tao did not have an opportunity to privately interact with her. Thus, he made use of this opportunity to secretly hug Lu Shimiao and kissed her, which Lu Shimiao panicked upon hearing the toilet flushing and wiped the lipstick off the corner of Su Tao’s lips.

After Qin Meimei came out, she wore a smile on her lips and muttered to herself, “I think my trip to the toilet was too short. Do you need me to go back in again?”
Coughing out to conceal the awkward atmosphere, Lu Shimiao replied, “We’re running late!”
The meeting was located at the Landscape Club; it’s a high-class location where only the wealthy and respected were qualified to spend here. If it wasn’t for Qin Meimei’s connections, it’s impossible for them to enter with Qihuang Charity Funds’ current status and reputation.
Following Qin Meimei in, Su Tao looked around at the decorations and was slightly astonished. The traditional style here gave off an ancient ambience with all sorts of antiques displayed on the shelf. With just a glance, anyone could tell that they’re all extremely old antiques, and at the same time, it’s also a display for the owner’s wealth.
The lobby’s manager led the three of them to the Golden Jade Room, which they waited for roughly five minutes before a gorgeous woman came in.
The woman appeared to be in her early thirties from her delicate appearance and elegant make-up. She had snow-white skin and a tall structure. She wore a white Cheongsam embroidered with treads that revealed her legs and gave off an ancient beauty. As the woman entered, Su Tao instantly caught onto a perfume scent that left his brows frowned.
Looking at the wrinkles on her neck, Su Tao could tell that this woman was already in her fifties, and she had been well-maintained.
“This is Ms. Jiang Mengou, the Chairman of White Gull Corporation.” Qin Meimei introduced.
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Jiang!”
When Su Tao shook hands with Jiang Mengou, he noticed that her hand was sweating and felt a little cold.
“Meimei and I are good friends, so there’s no need for you to sound so estranged. You can just call me Aunt Jiang!” Jiang Mengou straightforwardly smiled when she noticed that Su Tao was younger than she had imagined.
“Then, I’ll go ahead and call you Aunt Jiang.” Su Tao immediately changed his form of address and continued, “But wouldn’t that make you sound old?”
As Jiang Mengou chuckled, she replied, “I’m already old, so you don’t have to worry about it!”
Wearing a shocked expression, Su Tao exclaimed, “But you only seem to barely be in your thirties.”
Feeling happy in her heart, Jiang Mengou turned to Qin Meimei. “Physician Su really knows how to make someone happy. You’ve not told him of our relationship?”
With a smile, Qin Meimei explained, “She’s my maternal aunt.”
Raising her chin to look at the ceiling, Jiang Mengou sighed, “Youth waits for no one. Even if I still retain my beauty, my heart has already aged.”
“My aunt is a genuine successful woman. She created the White Gull brand all by herself, and I believe you guys know about it, right?” Qin Meimei smiled as she introduced.

The White Gull Corporation was a company that manufactures air-conditioners, and at the same time, it’s also the biggest air-conditioner brand in the world. Not only was the quality of their products outstanding, but their technology was also very advanced. It’s an iconic enterprise in the country.
At this moment, Su Tao finally understood the reason why Qin Meimei would choose to hold the meal here. To receive such a successful woman like Jiang Mengou, they definitely had to pay attention to the standards.
However, Su Tao could decipher some negative news from Jiang Mengou’s complexion. The state of her body wasn’t good. She has been in high stress for an extended period, so her body was extremely chaotic, and shockingly, she seemed to be suffering from severe Yin-Yang imbalance.
For the time being, Su Tao was still unaware of the objective behind this meal, but he came up with three possibilities. One being Qin Meimei hoped that he could take a look at Jiang Mengou’s illness, another being that Qin Meimei was trying to rope in a sponsor for the Qihuang Charity Fund, and the last being Qin Meimei had been planning to take revenge on Li Yede, in which she needed support.
As the waiter came in with the menu, Su Tao was inwardly shocked when he swept a glance at it. The prices here could only be described as ridiculous. Even a simple plate of Simmer-fried Tofu costs over a hundred; it’s simply a slaughter for people's money. Then again, they’re definitely not eating food of this level right now.
After the waiter left, Qin Meimei smiled as she looked at Su Tao. “You should have some mental preparation, right? Today’s meal isn’t just a simple meal.”
Sweeping a glance at Jiang Mengou, Su Tao smiled. “This meal is to treat Aunt Jiang’s condition, right? It’s an old ailment that has been bothering her for over thirty years.”
Hearing Su Tao’s words, Jiang Mengou was shocked. Although Qin Meimei boasted to her in the past about Su Tao, she was initially somewhat disappointed when she saw Su Tao since the latter was too young. Doctors were all about experience, so how capable could a lad who’s in his twenties be?
Hence, Jiang Mengou wasn’t optimistic about it in her heart. The reason why she told Su Tao to address her as Aunt Jiang was a signal to Qin Meimei that she wasn’t optimistic about Su Tao treating her.
“This condition is nothing serious, but it’s an awkward one, especially since it’s getting more severe as you age. At the same time, it’s not convenient for me to say it out loud since it concerns your privacy.” Su Tao continued.
When Jiang Mengou heard Su Tao’s words, she was instantly shocked to the point that she was left speechless. But after a brief pondering, she smiled. “There are only the four of us right now, so you can go ahead and say it out loud; it’s fine with me.”
Even now, Jiang Mengou still had some doubt about Su Tao in her heart. She’s extremely experienced, and she has also encountered many con men in the past, in which they’re all using their words based on your expression and tone to make you fall for their trap.
Thus, Jiang Mengou didn’t believe that Su Tao managed to see through her condition without doing anything. After all, it’s a secret that she has kept well, and even Qin Meimei didn’t know about it. So it’s ridiculous for Su Tao to detect her condition when they’ve only shaken hands.
“Aunt Jiang, don’t underestimate Su Tao’s eyes. Even without taking your pulse, he can still analyse your condition from some details, and I’m already used to it.” Qin Meimei smiled. She was also curious about Jiang Mengou’s illness.
Although Jiang Mengou was successful in her career, she still wasn’t married at this age. Hence, all of her relatives have been suspecting that Jiang Mengou had some mental illness, but no one dared to mention it out of concern for Jiang Mengou’s status.
But Qin Meimei had been pondering that if Jiang Mengou was really sick, then Su Tao might be able to help her, and thus, she created such a plan.
The meal with Jiang Mengou was to find a sponsor for Qihuang Charity Funds, and Qin Meimei purposely boasted about Su Tao before Jiang Mengou to get the latter to give Su Tao a chance.
Initially, Jiang Mengou considered this to be a free meal, but she never expected that her heart would be lifted along with Su Tao’s words.
With a faint smile, Su Tao did not reveal her condition and only spoke of the conclusion he had in his heart, “In fact, Aunt Jiang’s condition is nothing serious. Although it has been troubling her for a long time, she can recover in a month if she uses my prescription.”
“Really?” This condition tormented Jiang Mengou for decades, and she sought many doctors. However, there wasn’t any effect. Even if her condition was briefly alleviated, it would soon relapse.
Seeing how Su Tao gave a promise, Qin Meimei became worried and asked, “Why don’t you take a serious look at my aunt and take her pulse, at the very least?”
Wearing a bitter smile, Su Tao placed his hand on Jiang Mengou’s wrist and replied, “Alright, I’ll take her pulse then!”
Some illnesses require the taking of the pulse, but some didn’t.
Many people feel that physicians must take the pulse of their patients to make a detection, but this was a misunderstanding.
For example, if you have eczema on your face, it could be detected with a glance.
As for Jiang Mengou’s condition, it could be detected with a sniff.

I have checked for spelling and grammar mistakes, but just in case there is the occasional mistake, please comment on it, rather than insult me. From personal experience, I have seen people insulting my grammar, with a comment akin to:"Cant u even spell 'mom' correctly? It's 'mom' not 'mum' you idiot!!!" So, please, don't insult me like that... It really ruins my day, which might have already been awful... Also, I apologise if they get really overpowered, or sound really arrogant... I don't mean it that way, but that's how it is read, so I'm sorry before hand. Well done for making it this far, and thank you for reading. noelicoan.
