《Physician’s Odyssey》Chapter 503 - Visit from Afar

Seeing that Wang Ru has refused to treat, Asaka tried to use an indirect psychology method, “I’ve heard that the father and son of the Wang Family are both divine physicians of this age, and we’ve travelled so far because of your reputation. Are you really going to disappoint us? Even if you’re not capable of treating us, then please get your father. If both you and your father are helpless, then we will give up.”
Shaking his head, Wang Ru replied, “My father is getting on his age, and he no longer bothers with himself with the pharmacy.”
“Mr. Wang Ru, please get your father to take a look at Mr. Koizumi!” Even Kenji Inada begged.
Hearing those words, Wang Ru became a little unhappy. These people clearly did not trust in his ability, which was why they requested for his father.
He had his own pride as a grandmaster, to which he unhappily replied, “I believe that even if my father takes a look at him, there’s nothing he can do, either. Please return, I still have patients waiting for me.”
Seeing that Wang Ru was unhappy and was sending them off, Kohei Koizumi knew that it’s hopeless, no matter how they begged, so he waved his hand. “Then we won’t bother you any longer!”
After that, he took out a card from his wallet and left it on the table.
“This is the consultation free, so please accept it!”
When Wang Ru swept a glance at the card, he did not accept nor reject.
As Kohei Koizumi sighed, he helplessly left the Wang Family’s Pharmacy.
Entering back into the Toyota Century, Kenji Inada patiently comforted, “Mr. Koizumi, don’t be too depressed. There are many doctors in China. Although both the Wang Family’s father and son are famous, I still know some National Healers. I will try and get them to treat you, I believe that we can find a solution.”
As Asaka Ochi glanced at Kohei Koizumi with a complicated gaze, she sighed, “I never expected that Wang Ru would put on such airs!”
“That’s understandable. Every famous doctor cherishes their reputation, especially someone like him, who became famous a long time ago. They won’t treat unless they are confident, or their reputation will be damaged if they fail.” Kohei Koizumi waved his hand.
Despite his calm words, Asaka Ochi knew that her husband was in despair in his heart. Because of his illness, they visited countless doctors in Japan and America, but they failed to find a solution. In the end, they wanted to give TCM a try.
“China is the origin of TCM, but there’s practically been no development for the past ten years. Even so, we cannot despair. With such a huge population in China, we might be able to encounter a miracle.” Asaka Ochi helplessly said.

Nodding his head, Kohei Koizumi replied, “My greatest happiness is to have you as my partner in the last moments of my life.”
As tears flickered in Asaka Ochi’s eyes, she sobbed, “Please don’t say that. You must get better since we still have many more years that await us.”
Looking at Asaka Ochi, Kohei Koizumi smiled. Although his eyes were filled with warmth, Asaka Ochi was heartbroken with her eyes plagued by despair.
Walking to the back, Wang Ru handed the card over to Wang Xi. “American Express Centurion Card, the most mysterious and famous card in the world. For one that’s issued in China, the credit limit is at least ¥2,000,000.”
Sweeping a glance at it, Wang Xi replied, “When someone smells the scent of death, fortune is mere worldly possessions. He’s smart. He’s trying to make use of this card to create a commotion in China by calling all the famous physicians to look for him.”
“Dad, what do you think about his illness?” Wang Ru wryly smiled.
Shaking his head, a bitter smile surfaced Wang Xi’s lips. “He’s condition is beyond cure for TCM. Rather than looking for a solution in TCM, he might as well look for western medicine.”
“I will return this card later, then!” Wang Ru was someone that cherished his reputation, and he didn’t want his moral principle to be lost for money.
Nodding his head, Wang Xi praised, “A gentleman makes his money in just and ethical means. We definitely have to return this card, but you have to pay attention to the method being used.”
Knowing his father’s meaning, Wang Ru replied, “Please be reassured. I will help Kohei Koizumi advertise and let more physicians know that he is currently seeking treatment. At the same time, I will also defend our Wang Family’s reputation and say that it’s not that we can’t treat him, but we hope that the entire TCM industry can be more enthusiastic and join together.”
“You’re becoming more experienced in handling stuff, but it’s a pity that Guofeng hasn’t inherited any of your capability.” Wang Xi smiled.
Letting out a sigh, Wang Ru replied, “But Guofeng’s ability in business is pretty good. Right now, the momentum of the Medicine Deity Corporation’s development is pretty good, and it’s preparing to be listed. If an enterprise with TCM as the foundation can attract the attention of the market and go international, this is also a success!”
Helplessly waving his hand, Wang Xi sighed, “It’s only a pity that the Wang Family’s medical skills will be lost. You’re also getting on your age, so how long can you persevere after I’m gone?”
“Dad, you are still healthy, and nothing will happen to you.” Wang Ru immediately comforted.
With a ridiculing smile, Wang Xi said, “It’s the natural cycle of life, and it’s nothing much. But the Wang Family’s Pharmacy must carry on, and it’s not only for our Wang Family, but also for our lineage in TCM.”

“How about this… after Guofeng’s character has tamed down, we’ll…” Wang Ru still tried to look for an opportunity for his son.
However, Wang Xi grew agitated and interrupted, “Absolutely not! Even after I die, Guofeng can never be a physician again. A healer must be compassionate, and he lacks even the fundamentals. He will only bring harm to others instead!”
When Wang Ru saw the veins bulging out of his father’s forehead, he was startled since he knew that he had angered his father. He knew that the moment his father decided on something, he would not change his mind.
A long time later, Wang Xi took a deep breath and calmed down.
“I have already contacted the Medical Dao Sect. The moment Ling Yu becomes a National Healer, he will enter the Wang Family’s Pharmacy as the next successor of the pharmacy.”
“But his surname isn’t Wang, and this is going against our ancestor’s teachings!” Wang Ru frowned.
Glaring at Wang Ru, Wang Xi snapped, “I’m not a stubborn person, and the Wang Family’s medical skills cannot be lost in my hands. What is this matter compared to having the family’s inheritance lost? Ling Yu is the personal disciple of the Medical Dao Sect’s Sect Master, and he has travelled as a wandering physician to hone his skills. Most importantly, he has an upright moral conduct; he’s the best candidate to be the heir of the Wang Family’s Pharmacy.”
Hearing those words, Wang Ru sighed. Actually, he had another thought. To immediately get Wang Guofeng to have a child. With the fourth generation, it might be able to resolve their awkward situation of not having an heir.
At this moment, he blamed it on his son for being rash in his heart. If his son hadn’t done all those things, why would his father be so disappointed?
Not long after Su Tao returned home, the doorbell rang and he saw Gu Rushan immediately rush in.
Seeing Gu Rushan sneaking around, Su Tao sourly smiled. “Why are you behaving like a thief?”
Staring at Su Tao for a long time, Gu Rushan finally couldn’t hold it back and asked as she bit on her lips, “Why weren’t you home last night?”
“Are you that bored to pay attention to your neighbour? What motive do you have?” Su Tao bitterly smiled.
As her face blushed, Gu Rushan unhappily said, “I’m just showing my concern. After all, we’re pretending to be a couple right now!”
“Don’t jump into the fire!” Su Tao immediately warned with a smile.
“Dream on! Oh, right. My parents would like to talk with you privately.” Gu Rushan snorted.
Su Tao wasn’t as nervous as Gu Rushan had imagined and replied, “We still have to resolve this matter sooner or later, and we can’t possibly hide it from them forever. If they’re going to persuade us to break up, I will deal with it well. Don’t worry about it!”
“You’re going to ‘break up’ with me?” Gu Rushan instantly became a little indignant.
“I’m very busy, and I can’t possibly act with you forever, right?” Su Tao sighed. “I believe your parents will understand it.”
Shaking her head, Gu Rushan firmly replied, “No way! You have to help me until they’ve left Beijing. Otherwise, they will surely force me to go on a blind date or urge me to return. If that’s the case, all the hard work that I’ve put in will go down the drain!”
Since Gu Rushan stood on a higher ethical point, Su Tao had no reason to reject her.
Stretching out his finger, Su Tao jabbed Gu Rushan’s forehead. “Lying can turn into a tendency. I really have no idea what’s going through the minds of you women. Forget it, since I’ve decided to help you, I will go all the way with it and fulfil my promise.”
Letting out a breath in relief, Gu Rushan took out two chocolates from her pocket and shoved them in Su Tao’s hands with a smile. “How obedient. Here’s your reward!”
Seeing how Gu Rushan left as she tiptoed, Su Tao smiled. Although Gu Rushan was materialistic, he felt that she’s living her life to the fullest.
That woman could rely on her appearance to get a good life, but she held onto her pride and wanted to become successful based on her ability, which made Su Tao feel touched.
If he didn’t help Gu Rushan, she might not leave, but she would definitely receive pressure from her family.
It’s not easy to drift in Beijing, so why doesn’t he help her and relieve some of her pressure?
Gu Rushan had finally taken the first role in her life with lines, so she had to get through this test and see if she’s really suitable for this path.
Su Tao was someone with his own dreams, and he could pay the price to achieve them. So despite the schemes and plots shown by Gu Rushan, he could understand them.
Innocent women were only living in their fairytale. If you’re not cunning, how would you be able to stand out in the entertainment circle?
As Su Tao showered, he took out his phone and noticed several missed calls. They were from Cai Yan and Jiang Qinghan.
Cai Yan was coming to prepare for the branch in Beijing, while Jiang Qinghan was coming to participate in a conference.
Su Tao knew that Cai Yan preferred public transport, so he sent her a guide before calling Jiang Qinghan back.
