《Overgeared》Chapter 26

Grid felt like a mountain after equipping the gold armor. With the giant sword in his hand, he felt brave enough to even cut at a dragon. The gangsters were swinging their weapons toward him, but there was no need for him to evade them.
Kwang! Kwajajak!
[The enemy’s damage has been neutralized.]
The enemies’ attacks had good momentum, but they couldn’t deal even a small scratch to Grid’s armor. In fact, his body didn’t feel even the slightest fluctuations. Instead, the gangsters’ weapons were damaged.
“W-What?”
“What is this...?”
The gangsters lived in the lawless world, so their warning instincts were unsurpassed.
At this moment, the gangsters felt despair. “T-This is ridiculous...!”
Grid grinned in a devilish manner at the confused gangsters. “Have you heard of ‘item effect’?”
Drugs? Skills? Right from the beginning, Grid didn’t need to rely on such things. There were all types of battle gear piled up in the smithy, and as Pagma's Successor, Grid could use all of them!
Clink!
He grabbed the handle of the greatsword with both hands and tightened his waist as much as possible before lifting it up with all of his strength. Grid didn’t need to use any techniques. He used just the momentum of the greatsword to wreak havoc to anything in its path.
Seokeok!
There was a refreshing feeling in his chest as the sword cut through his enemies. With one strike, the bodies of the gangsters turned into gray light.

Tremendously rewarding sentences kept appearing, but Grid didn’t take the time to enjoy the pleasure he got from seeing them.
“This weapon and armor...”
Grid immediately used the Legendary Blacksmith’s Appraisal skill.

“C-Cough...”
W-What were these amazing things? How did such amazing items show up in the smith of a village like this?
While Grid was shocked speechless by the two items, Khan came up to him and firmly grasped his shoulders.
Then Khan asked Grid in a trembling voice, “You... How can you use Dainsleif and Valhalla?”
Grid couldn’t afford to answer Khan’s question right now. Rather, he was the one with questions. “Khan, why are such great items in a place like this? Huh? Where did you get this?”
“Heok! H-How surprising.” Khan freaked out after listening to Grid’s question.
Grid was stunned because it seemed like Khan’s eyes were going to pop out. ‘Wow, this guy isn’t a frog, so how can his eyes pop out like this?’
Khan’s eyes appeared to pop out of their sockets as he shook Grid. “You... Do you really know the value of these things?”
“Isn’t it obvious that the value is high just by looking at them? The creator is the great Albatino.”
“H-Heok! You figured out who the maker is? P-Perhaps you are...?” Khan’s face and neck turned red. Then he wobbled like he would collapse.
‘What? Why is he in this state? Is it high blood pressure?’
Did Grid save Khan only for him to die of high blood pressure? No! Grid couldn’t let that happen.
“Hey, hey, Old Man! Calm down, calm down! You have to be careful!”
“Ah! Kuoock...”
“Heok? F-Foam? Hey! Old Man. Hey! What is this? Don’t die! I succeeded the quest, right? Then why are you dying? If you have another quest, then give it to me!”
‘No, wait. If Khan died, then what would happen to Dainsleif and Vahalla?’
“...Hey, Old Man. Are you well? Damn! You have to live. You must live.”
After returning Dainsleif and Valhalla to their original locations, Grid carried the old man to the clinic.

Winston was a remote village. However, as the road was built and transportation developed, the village started to evolve rapidly. There were hunting grounds of various levels everywhere, and Winston overflowed with high-quality specialty products and unique quests. These factors meant that its developments were endless. Nowadays, many people came and went. In a survey of new users that a broadcasting station conducted, it was in the top 10 of ‘New Village where I want to Start.’
After seeing the ever-evolving Winston, people envied the residents of Winston. The land prices in Winston had increased by as much as 20 times, so it was expected that the residents would be rich. However, this was only an illusion for those who didn’t know the truth. The reality of the village was quite different, and the lives of the Winston residents weren’t better than ever.
This was due to the Mero Company. The Mero Company had dominated the northern area of the Eternal Kingdom since a long time ago. Valmont, the leader of the Mero Company, had predicted the potential of Winston more quickly than anyone else. When it was still a remote village, he bought the land and commercial areas of Winston at a cheap price from the residents. Therefore, most of Winston’s land and commercial areas were dominated by the Mero Company. It hadn’t officially been promoted to a city yet, but many of Winston’s signboards had the name ‘Mero’ on them. On the other hand, the residents had lost their jobs and suffered from poverty.
The Mero Company was monopolizing Winston. This was a big jackpot for the Mero Company, and it was possible for them to accumulate a huge amount of wealth. The lord wouldn’t do anything to stop them due to the higher taxes and bribes they offered.
“Indeed, people must have insight.”
The owner of the Mero Company, Valmont was happy every day. Most of the profit from the village entered his pockets, so he enjoyed numerous luxuries. However, there was one thing that was raining on Valmont’s mood—the existence of the smithy.
According to the decree of the king, cities and villages could only legally have one smithy. It was one of the government’s extreme measures to prevent local powers from building massive weapons and strengthening their military capabilities. Thus, there was only one smithy in Winston, and the owner of that smithy was not the Mero company but a blacksmith called Khan.
A smithy that could function steadily and gain a large amount of money as a weapons business was rare. Consequently, the Mero Company offered Khan an astronomical amount to sell the smithy, but he refused, saying it had been in his family for seven generations. It was no use even if Valmont used intimidation.
Valmont had a headache. It was too regretful to give up on the smithy. So he thought hard and came up with an ingenious scheme to put pressure on Khan.
“Buy large quantities of quality weapons and farm equipment from the Taji Blacksmiths. Then sell it to the Winston residents and travelers at a cheap price. The profit? There is no need to worry about that. Sell it cheaply!”
Due to Valmont’s order, Khan’s blacksmith store lost its competitiveness. The residents and travelers of Winston no longer went to Khan’s smithy. The weapons sold at the Mero Company were slightly lower in quality than those sold at Khan’s smithy, but they were more diverse and cheaper, leading people to buy from the Mero Company instead.
In addition, Valmont planned one more thing. It was a plan to trick Khan by hiring a scammer.
“If you increase the scale of the smith, it will instill more confidence in the customers and business will be well again. I will lend you the money at a low-interest rate, so invest your money and grow the scale of the smithy. Show the people of Winston and the Mero Company that you will be successful!”
Khan foolishly believed the scammer as the scammer was a long-time friend of his. Without imagining that his friend had been bribed by Valmont, Khan borrowed money from his friend without checking the contract. As a result, the debt snowballed into an amount that he couldn’t afford to repay.
Valmont loved the feeling of watching Khan collapse.
“Huhuhu, that smithy will be mine in the near future.”
The last thing Valmont did was hire a group of gangsters, and he waited in anticipation, believing that the smithy would soon be handed over to him. Yet who knew that Khan would be as stubborn as a bull? When he saw that Khan refused to let go of the smithy despite being cornered, an even greater rage boiled up inside Valmont.
“Where are they? I told those gangsters to be firmly prepared if they didn’t handle it this time.”
He had warned them seriously, so they were motivated to work harder. This time, the smithy would enter his hands...
“What? They’re missing?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Those damn bastards!”
Chachachang!
Hearing the unexpected report, Valmont overturned the table filled with delicacies.
Then he asked his closest subordinate, Rabbit, “Who recommended those gangsters?”
“Biel.”
“Bring him here right now!”
After a few moments, Valmont quietly asked the trembling Biel, “Weren’t you the one who recommended those gangsters? You said I could believe in them? Then what is this? Not only have they not come back with Khan’s smithy within the promised time period, but they have now run away. I even paid them an advance up front. How will you take responsibility for this?”
“I-I’m really sorry. They are the most notorious people in the neighborhood, so I recommended...”
“I don’t need your apology. Give it to me.”
“Huh? W-What...?” Biel asked because he couldn’t understand what Valmont meant.
Valmonth was frustrated with Biel’s confusion and said bluntly, “You must be stupid if you don’t understand what I mean even though you work for a merchant company. Money. Give me money. You are responsible for the advance given to them as well as compensation for the failed commission.”
“Y-Yes?! I-I don’t have that much money. Please give me one more chance...” Biel grabbed Valmont’s clothing and begged.
However, Valmont was relentless. “If you don’t have money, create it. Otherwise, I will sell you to the slave market. Then I will be compensated to some extent. Huhuhu.”
“M-Master! Please… Please!”
“Remove this guy.”
Biel had been with Valmont for 10 years and had always worked hard like a dog. Despite that, Valmont didn’t tolerate even a single mistake. It was a cruel decision, but he didn’t care about morals.
‘Proud and cruel.’ Rabbit didn’t like this about Valmont’s nature. Still, he could earn big money if he worked under Valmont, so Rabbit never betrayed him.
After Biel was dragged out, Rabbit was left alone with Valmont and opened his mouth to say, “It is hard to believe that the gangsters hired by Biel would run away. They live here in Winston. They can’t throw away their homes easily just for a little bit of money.”
“If they didn’t run away, then what is it? Were they hit by the old man?”
“For now, it is most appropriate to think so. Until this morning, they visited Khan’s smithy as normal. However, they were missing after that. It is certain that something happened in the smithy.”
After hearing Rabbit’s explanation, Valmont asked, “Where is Khan?”
“He has also disappeared.”
“This is ridiculous! What on earth happened in that smithy?”
“We’re doing an investigation, so you will know soon.”
It was frustrating because they didn’t know the exact circumstances. Valmont and Rabbit were just coming up with various assumptions and guesses.
“I’ve found Khan’s location!” An informant entered and made a report. “Around two hours ago, there was a witness who saw a strange young man carrying Khan on his back.
“Strange young man... He must be the culprit in this incident. Rabbit, I will leave the business of the smithy to you from now on. Take care of anyone who gets in your way.”
“Yes.”
According to others’ evaluation of his personality, Valmont had talent as a merchant, but he was harsh and violent. How did he manage to grow the Mero Company to this extent? It was because he had Rabbit.
Rabbit was a resourceful and skilled person who could cover Valmont’s deficiencies. He suppressed his emotions and made calm judgments to produce the best results. Now Rabbit was about to have an encounter with Grid.

8 183The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody
[participant in the 2018 NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] The Ordinary Life of Tom Nobody is a LitRPG system story where each person transitions into the system, or SCHEMA as this system is known, innocent and unaware of his former life. Following the tutorial, memories return, but by this point, each person has a better chance of accepting their new world. It also gives them an opportunity to start from scratch, fresh without all the baggage of their former lives dictating their decisions in the early stages of the process. I don’t expect this will necessarily turn into an action-packed heroic tale, my intent is to create a character who wants to have just an ordinary, but reasonably comfortable life. I don’t know myself how well he will succeed, there may be twists and Tom may discover some heroism hidden deep inside. I guess we’ll find out together. This is my first writing attempt. I’ve wanted to write all my life, but I’ve never been able to develop the proper discipline to put in the work. I hope I complete the challenge and work my way past this hump. I am writing this as part of the NaNoWriMo Royal Road Challenge. While I will try to self-edit as I go, the challenge requires close to 2,000 words a day, so parts of the story may be rough, and things like plot lines may not make as much sense as any of us would like. If all goes well, and I complete the challenge, I plan on going back through everything and trying to polish it up. In the meanwhile, thank you for reading and I hope I don’t disappoint.

Named after the hope he represents, he seeks a [Class] so austere that hundreds fail in their search. Yet, before this [Class] even the Gods bow their heads in respect. P.S. This is NOT a number-crunching LitRPG. The System is an add-on, not the story itself. Also known as I Reincarnated as an Immortal Caterpillar, the story follows a monster and humans in a system word with a Buddhist/Hindu philosophy. The System is especially influenced by this philosophy. Cover by the ever so awesome Jefferymoonworm Warning! Not for trauma survivors.

8 79Stone of Eclipse
A stone of ancient legend. Word has it that this stone is so absurdly powerful, it could grant people anything they wanted. Riches, fame, power, reformation, creation of a new world, you name it! One who obtains this stone will earn such dominance. But such absurdity has its demerits. After all, it is just a legend, right? Who would even believe in the existence of such a miraculous object? Was it even an object? Wasn't it more of an abstract energy existing within mankind? Or was it some form of celestial body that only appears during an eclipse? Where does it even exist? DOES it even exist? As such, the legend of this seemingly magical stone entered the realm of being termed as myth. Anybody stating their dream was to find the Stone of Eclipse would be branded as a laughing stock. Regardless, rumor or not, the whole idea of the stone has been deeply rooted into the history of humanity. Society, culture, kingdoms, governments, religions, cults - all have some form of group whose works are driven based on the stone. Enter, Diavolo Signore and his friends, an ignorant trio who have been sent off from their home island to learn of the world, having seen potential, by their island chief. Dolores is a lucky girl with a high-level avatar in a very popular game. She did not level it up; she got it through some fortunate circumstances. She is not interested in fighting and levelling; all she wants is to have some fun and follow her own fantasies. If only there would not be all those idiots who intend to kill her, capture her, or simply use her. And those flaws in the game! Wait, what? Those pesky game characters now appear in the real world? And they can do magic? How did this happen? Adding to her troubles, her crush does not even look at her. As Dolores tries only to survive and hide between 'normal' people, she encounters stranger and stranger things that force her hand and, in the end, she has the answers to a lot of questions. It is a slow-developing story. I had a lot of fun writing it and hope to share it with you, dear reader if you also enjoy it. On the other hand, putting it in an acceptable form requires much work and energy. I intend to bring it to its end and not let it unfinished. I hate it when I encounter unfinished stories, so I understand the feeling. This is not a classical isekai story. There is travel between the two worlds, and the game world seems to be so very real... well, this is one plot of the story. This is not an MMORP game story. Part of the action happens inside a game world, but it is treated as a real world. Updates on a weekly basis, at least Monday and Friday, with additional bonus chapters as time and energy allow. Cover art: White Flower as A Dark Fairy by Darkrealmsmaiden Yolanda gracefully allowed me to use her dark fairy as cover. Unfortunately, this is not enough for people with a low tolerance for warped sentences and... they may want to skip the story :( Well, you have been warned :) I appreciate it when a reader points out a sentence that needs rework. That may spare a follow-up reader some pain and helps me understand where my English grammar problems are. * We thought we made the best game in Earth's history We thought we made the best interfaces ever seen We thought we made it - lifelike But it far exceeded our expectations.
